I want to know more about corn cob bedding. Cannot find aspen, woodchips semua pine and softwood...Yesterday's paper is too expansive. So far it seems fine, and I have a huge bag of it. Online said it's a good choice but seeing as all of you use something else..I'm starting to get worried

that's a relief
I'm also wondering how to entertain my hamster...she's not easily entertained. I tried giving a stick, she ignored it. Paper roll...only a bit was chewed. Nothing but the wheel seem to interest her, I want her to stop biting plastic also :\ And she's extremely picky with the Slius mix. Like tak makan saja >_< This post has been edited by Sophiera: Jul 1 2008, 05:54 PM |

If your hamster is a very picky eater with a lot of food remaining, what to do? I don't add food so often now since it's not really finishing.
Give other things, she will eat it all...but not very keen on the staple |

Well, my hamster is adopted from someone else...they're not like us forumers who always scrounge for the best things for our pets no matter how short lived they are.
The hamster grew up on Living world by the way. Pine cedar and hay too. not changed to Corncob and tissue paper. She loves tissue paper...better absorption too. Lol, yeah... it's like eating the cheap food and suddenly need to eat lots of veggies and fruits for health reasons Actually I prefer bread and cheese and pasta for comfort eating.Quality ones too, cna't stand cheesedale much anymore. Hopefully my hamster's taste upgrades soon @_@ |

"Corn Cob is ok. Just noisy when a hamster digs stuff. Yesterday's News? Do we have it here? I normally use Breeder Celect or Healthy Pet."
I think I saw a bag or two in Ikea, donno if they still have it. Sigh, my robo is very scared of me...I try to help it bathe in sand by sprinkling over it, and sometimes just a pour. Now don't want to take food out of my hand also Oh well as long she's happy. It's bad enough she fought with her mother before I took her in. My first hamster was a syrian, nobody educated us that she cnanot live on sunflower seeds and carrots. One day ate something wrong under the kitchen and kaput. So so very sad This time after the robo dies of a ripe old age, I'm going to get a syrian from Nezu or pet shack |

But fish tank berat wor...@_@
My current robo cage is a two floor wire with a plastic base...my robo spends 90% of the time on top though. Maybe should sell that old one off and get the tank as suggested. |

O_o macam ini pun boleh... who started this cruel idea?! Using human cereals to feed hamsters...
...Which nutritionist also warn that they're NOT good for humans also. I brought back guava branches from taiping for hammy to bite last new year...but she balantly ignored the branch even when I slightly poke her with it. I put inside the cage for a long long time also not a single bite on it. Instead she chew the wheel and her house >_< Not to mention the zomg rusted ladder too. Why this hamster so many bad habits wan?! Argh must change it ASAP but no money. The more I read here, the more I regret not learning enough about my old hamster when I was 10. |

Lol
The wheel's axis now have tiny little pits, and she cheed down a house before. Ugh, I can imagine all the plastic bits in her system...and they also go into my compost... ARGH THE NASTY CHEWING HABIT MUST END D: D: D: P.S fur condition is a lot better after some toothbrush grooming and pouring sandbath over her...at the cost now she don't like me This post has been edited by Sophiera: Jul 3 2008, 02:05 AM |

Food is downstairs, house is upstairs. It's a double story cage If I take out the ladder, she'll start to climb and no way of going down except...dropping. It looks painful so I have no choice but to leave it there.
She starts to chew on plastic when I approach her...like she's stressed seeing me. Probably going "Please don't groom me please don't groom me please don't groom me" |

Mwahahaha, I digged up an aromateraphy stand and removed the top bowl...
i'm not sure around the material though. It is smooth, no rust...sounds like a cross of metal and ceramic. I'm planning to change that into her house, because the plastic one is really hard to clean. |

If she spends a lot of time with the babies it's a good sign. Give her more milk boosting stuff and we'll see.
Meantime you might want to start preparing cages for the babies. I noticed my hamster now has less oily coat. Hair is growing back at the bald spots, but still rather matter towards the bum. It's a great, great, GREAT improvement from last time. She tolerates brushing when given sunflower seeds, but the collected tufts of fur are so packed I actually considered using a find toothed comb to fray it before brushing. Unfortunately little Bean never stays long once all the sunflowers are gone. The fur is still a bit dirty but not balding anymore. Currently she's on Sluis ( that's the only healthy hamster food they have at Megamall) with 5-6 Sunflower seeds and a pinch of split green beans with the skin removed (It's dhal I think). The bowl is refilled every 2-3 days because she's one really picky and slow eater...must force her to finish most of it. Occasionally when mom cooks chickpeas we'll give her 3 biji. I have some super sweet corn frozen in the freezer. She's a corn addict, and I know it's not good to feed that too much so only a little pinch. Is it ok to give the little pinch every day or every other day? I have to be cautious giving fresh things because her house is very hard to clean. She rejected my clay aromatherapy holder totally so back to the same hard-to-clean house. Now the bowl where you put water to heat up is now the foodbowl I changed it because...she peed in the old plastic container where I put the food. Yeah she's not toilet trained and I'm fine with that as long she don't do it inside her bowl. Actually...kinda concerned because they're also inside her house. Sigh, what to do...she's inside the house 80% of the time. |

My robo lives alone too, simply because the last pair fought. don't know what happened to the other...since when I rescued the hamster she's the only one left.
Mother and daughter sure fight right? |

don't know...I got mine alone. So sad to see her alone like that...
the past owner told me the both of them fight I think Nezu asked a survey of what people feed their nursing moms. But...cannot remember. diet is quite high in protein and calcium I think. People give a good mix of dry and fresh food plus mealworms/tofu/egg Oh, must have enough calcium. No calcium how to make good milk? |

Is it ok for me to let my hamster chew a dried corn cob. She chewed off the dried remains as expected and finally she stopped chewing metal or plastic...
but is it safe? I heard corn cob pellets give blockage in rabbits. hammy leh? Correction: she resumed biting the wheel again. sigh This post has been edited by Sophiera: Jul 15 2008, 12:34 AM |
