Received my Flight of the Phoenix BD today and straightaway pop it in to watch the plane crash scene. Awesome AQ. Makes you feel like you're in the plane sweat.gif

I have this BD too. Quite a nice movie. AQ is good. But, will test it again once my new subbie arrives. Now, didnt watch any movie. Only listen to music.

Hi guys, i am quite interested in the SVS subs after reading so many good review about it. However since there are no local distributors here... we will need to buy online and import it right?

I did a simple calculation.

The SVS SB12+ is priced at US$699 (round up to 700)
Shipping another US250
Exhange rate 3.4
Malaysian tax 26%

so (700 + 250) x 3.4 x 126% = RM4070??????? ohmy.gif shocking.gif doh.gif rclxub.gif

Such a simple affordable sub in the US become so expensive here???? Anybody knows how to bring it in at a cheaper rate or through any agent?

Thanks for the advice, will check with him and see.

Btw, which of the following you guys think is better? I am in to 50% music / 50% movies. I prefer controlled and accurate bass.

SVS SB12+ , SVS PB12+, Sunfire HRS-12, Velodyne SPL-1200R

Err... no preference. Anything as long as it sounds good, tight and accurate. Whats the advantage of forward or downward? downward more powerful?

Downward tend to be more controlled and better for music. Forward firing tend to blast you into oblivion biggrin.gif or in other word better for movie blush.gif

A newbie in subwoofer here.

May I ask if I am planning a simple AV setup, for a small to medium sized room.

Amp not yet available tongue.gif, but eyeing an either a Marantz (eg, new 5003), or Harmon Kardon entry level (eg. AVR 355).
Mostly for music - ie. vocal, light rocks, instrumental, occ. classical pieces..
Movies too, but lesser except for TV or Astro normal viewing..

Which sub would all of u recommend? My budget is max RM1500 - 1800. I heard of both SVS entry level or Paradigm PDR10, what do u all think? Or is there any other sub you may recommend?

Thanks a bunch.

according to pierreye downfiring subs will give u a more even output.. meaning less peaks n dips.. he actually tried his front firing sub turning it into a down firing sub using doorstops
