BenQ G2110W IS NOT 22" as many of the price list in Lowyat put it.

Native resolution = 1680 x 1050
Response time =  5ms
Screen Size =  20.1"
Brightness  = 250cd/m²
http://www.benq.com.my/products/LCD/?produ...=specifications
Could be a TYPO... hmm.gif

According to main BenQ website: http://benq.com/products/LCD/?product=1300...=specifications

Screen Size = 21.6"
Brightness = 300cd/m²

Yup 21.6" not 22" or 20.1". I just seen it from one shop here.
But I can't see much different between 21.6" and 22" although when put side by side.

May be because my lcd is 17", 22" is big enough for me. So now instead of 24", I only aim at good 22" lcd montior.

I believe when your monitor is big, you have to have some distance from monitor when playing game to enjoy all the view. The bigger the size, the longer the distance. I read some of the post by forumer that some are prefer normal viewing than a widescreen when playing fps game.

Want to play PS3 go for larger screen but you already got 42" tv, why want to get larger monitor lcd? 22" is really enough if you already get a lcd tv.

I also tempted with 24" monitor, but after thinking that I also got a lcd tv for movie and game, so why 24"...

If I'm not wrong 32" LCD TVs are more expensive than a 24" LCD monitor for the same resolution. For example, a Sony 32" Full HD LCD TV costs about RM3.5k (Got the price from SonyStyle Malaysia's website) while a 24" Full HD LCD monitor will cost around RM1k(for the cheapest one, and depending on the panel type, it can reach up to RM2-3k). So, it really depends on your usage and your affordability. If you use the LCD mainly for movies and also console gaming (and you can afford it), I would suggest you to get a 32" Full HD LCD TV. Else, for people on a tight budget, I would suggest you to buy the more affordable 24" LCD monitor. I hope my opinion helps. smile.gif

Yups, those 32" full HD ones costs a lot more than the normal 32" ones.. Well, if the price does come down to "reasonable" levels, I will consider switching to this. biggrin.gif

tq so much for ur explanation..appreciated it bro notworthy.gif
now,i am not richie rich,so there is a no no no 32" LCD tv for me sad.gif
but i wil go to 24" LCD monitor instead and the most affordable one.
i scout it already, and found this BenQ 24" (4got the name of it ) and Dell S2409W.
both of them are below RM 1100 iianm.

or i also can stick with 22" that have hdmi port, but not fully utilize my console.
also afraid my gc cant go on with a 24".

Of course depend on the budget. Most 32" only have 1366 x 768 like mine. But enough for watching movies and playing games. No blue-ray, of course.

Don’t get me wrong, I said better get 32" if the price of 24" lcd monitor more than 1.5k. So, if the price is below and you can afford them, why not?

Previously I said the larger the screen, the more distant you have to sit from your monitor. So, for console game, better you get an affordable 24” monitor.

Actually I never seen 24" here, so have no experience regarding this. So, not all GC can support 24"? What gc can support them?

In my opinion, I'll go for the 24". Since we rarely change our monitors (or is it just me...? sweat.gif ), I would opt for the 24". It gives you more real estate (in other words, more desktop space). Once you got to larger monitors, you'll never turn back to smaller ones.

I've heard of the popular Benq G2400W. It's the most affordable 24" with the ratio of 16:10 currently and it performs. From your GC, I think it can handle games just fine, but you'll have to tone down on the graphics settings.

But, if you would like to have all the eye candies turned to the max, then by all means, get a 22" LCD monitor that has HDMI input and the necessary requirements to run a console(like the HDCP compliant). smile.gif After all, the games on the console are displayed at 720p, of which any monitor with 1680X1050 resolution can handle it.

It's also important to have 1:1 mapping for the monitors with 1920x1080 resolution as Full HD only has a resolution of 1920x1080. With the 1:1 mapping, the image will displayed with two black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Where as, w/o the 1:1 mapping, the image will be stretched to fit the top and bottom gaps and this makes the image less pleasing to the eyes.

For 16:9 monitors (like the Dell S2409W), however, they do not require 1:1 mapping for Full HD content as the image will fill in just nicely into the monitor.

I hope my tiny bit of info is able to help you. smile.gif

Nice information you have there. Thanks.
True, once you got larger monitor, you'll never turn back to smaller size.

yes,that's the one i am mentioning earlier..BenQ G2400W.
my friend used it with xbox360, very nice indeed. the price also is affordable smile.gif

now, bout the 1:1 mapping, it need to be done with 1920x1200 rite?
so that it will compatible with Full HD ( 1920x1080 ).

but the Dell S2409W, it is already 16:9. Its max reso is already 1920x1080.

If I'm not mistaken, 1920X1080 already a hd resolution. So 1920X1200 will have extra pixel at the top and bottom. If no 1:1 mapping, the picture will stretch to fit the 1920x1200.

I believe Dell S2409W was manufactured solely for HD thus it support HDMI.
