QUOTE(WilliamG @ Oct 7 2008, 12:09 PM) Hmm...jus saw this post today and was thinking that im getting w2408h soon and my gc is HD 4850 512mb. My question is that by using hd 4850 can it fully support 1920x1200 games like crysis or other big games? if you run everthing at max setting, you'll get average 30-40fps only for latest game. so, when newer games are released in the future, probably within a year, you may have to get a better graphics card or just play the games at lower resolution, which looks crappy on lcd.I don wanna use a 24" monitor to play games with onli able to support 1680 x 1050 reso |

QUOTE(Vivato @ Oct 7 2008, 08:37 PM) About 24" monitor, which brand selling this monitor around rm1000? Dell still selling 24" for rm1200? If you check at Dell's online store, they are selling their lower end 24" monitor (S2409W) for RM1089. I bought it from PC World for RM1040 and received it yesterday Havent check the news for quite some times However bear in mind that its Full HD and its native resolution is 1920x1080 (16:9). I use it mainly for PS3 so no qualms there. Also plugging it to my laptop. As far as I know, this is the only 24" monitor that is around RM1000 (which is why I bought it hahaha). The closest is BenQ's newly released full hd monitor at about RM1100-RM1200 or so I heard. |

Sluggishness is noticeable at Very High setting. Somehow previously I can run smoothly on 19" LCD. Hopefully my new 4870 will get rid of this sluggishness |

Sorry for the noob question, but if you're a gamer, is 16:10 or 16:9 better? Is there a significant difference between the two?

Is there a significant difference between the two? 16:9 is the normal TV widescreen resolution.16:10 is the widescreen ratio for computer monitors. There is hardly any difference between the two. 16:9 stretched to 16:10 (for those who are using their monitors as TVs too) isn't too bad. |

For game and movie mostly is using 16:9 which is 1920*1080, so is almost 1:1 mapping and compatible. But if for browsing and doing office work then 16:10 will better since you have another 220 pixel to view ur webpage or document. |

I have friends who still thinks that 5:4 is the best and refuses to upgrade to 16:10 because he says 5:4 is the best. And he went around asking for the any 5:4 larger than 19".
So, it's user preference, 16:10, 5:4 etc. as long as it rocks your boat, anything goes. This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Oct 8 2008, 12:23 PM |

5:4? Or 4:3?
I'm thinking of getting one of those 16:9 LCD but my 4850GS will definitely not able to run them at the native resolution maxed out. Wonder if I can run half hd instead? 1280x720 or that will need to depend on games? If play those with 16:10 means err fatter screen display? or can set so that the screen doesn't stretch it but having the black gap on the sides? |
