Hi all, i'm doing the reseach about the DELL 24 inch monitor right now. Currently interested in S2409W to upgrade my current 17 inch monitor since is value for money. I have some question might need you all help me to answer.

1) For those just get their S2409W, congratulation. Just curious that any angle problem or difficulties while u watching movie from far away, example lay on the bed but watch the LCD straight from the table?

2) I wondering whether my old ATI x1600XT card can support this DELL2409W LCD?

Really need you expertise or experience for these icon_question.gif , thanks.

Hi Pal, really appreciate and thanks for your review. Now i might go for the s2409W, just a last question. In ur cons list, u mention No 1:1 pixel mapping will that cause any issues?

Interesting read. But how would we know which monitors use which type of displays? smile.gif
*
Normally, i will judge those panel from the Max. Viewing Angle and Color Gamut. For TN panel, normally viewing angle will be 160 or 170 for the vertical or horizontal. For the Color Gamut, normally the TN panel can't have high % due to the it using 6 bit and the S-IPS is using 8 bit. Anyway this all imho only, i think some shifu here can explain more detail. thumbup.gif

Ah so usually TN screen's have viewing angles of 160-170°'s? smile.gif
Dang. Still can't find anything more about a particular monitor. A quick search on Google did not yield any results as well. doh.gif
*
Normally is like that, for some info sharing http://www.behardware.com/articles/686-8/r...2407wfp-hc.html
In the review of previous dell model 2407wfp HC, it got the TN, MVA, PVA and IPS viewing angle comparison. You can have a look in those, and this site is quite knowledgeable. thumbup.gif

A bit out of topic, i had receive the s2409w unit in office today. So far i don't found any dead pixel, will stress test again later. smile.gif

Hey everyone I just got my hand on the DELL S2409W monitor, and it is amazing! Buy one and you won't regret it! I'm playing my ps3 on it and it looks amazing! no screenshot though cuz I'm poor now...

P.S. I'm not hire by DELL to advertise here smile.gif
*
I had received the unit, so far so good but facing some angle problem when i lay down on my bed and watch the movie. Need to tilt down a bit when watching, anyway is expected since is TN panel. The color look quite sharp, now still configure out the setting that suit me when viewing.

Hi Guys, what about Gateway's FHD2400? hows the picture quality? and if compare Dell's 2409 and Gateway's FHD2400, which one would u'll suggest. Thanks..
*
I read the comments from Hard Forum, a lot is good comments but from CNET is bad comment lol. I own the DELL s2409, so far so good but now my graphic card spoilt so can't test more in it. Anyway 2 also is the TN panel, just the Gateway have more input component and USB compare s2409.

Ya is grey-to-grey 5ms for the TN panel. Actually i can't differential the 2ms or the 5ms during gaming, so IMHO 5ms is serve me well. smile.gif

Well as i said the dell delivery and the online order is fast and easy, so u just bear for awhile ( Mostly within 5 days) then u can receive ur new dell baby. I think that is more better deal, unless u really got anything urgent then i might try to help since i will order another unit again. smile.gif

Well, size is a matter but not mean that big is good. Just depend on the ppl need and how good it suit us and help us in work and entertainment. If said technology then i dun think we should discuss about the size only, we need to discuss about the panel as well, rite? Anyway, this thread have a lot shifu and those who really expert in the LCD, i also seek for their help b4 doing any LCD decisions but still the choice is depend on me since i'm the one who pay and use it. So Just think wisely and which LCD is prefect in ur needs.

Planning to buy a 22" inch

with budget RM900

I like Samsung, but I dont know i shd go ahead with samsung or not.
Dell 22" inch with webcam is my second choice too...

Shall I sell my Samsung 940BW or just use Dual Screen ?

btw, I am using 8800GTS.
*
hmm.gif Seriously i dun think 22 inch Dell with Web cam is a good buy since too expensive compare to other brand 22 inch LCD, Dell 22 inch currently need RM1,219. (I believe u can save the money from buy other brand decent 22 inch LCD, and buy a better web cam. tongue.gif )
For the dual screen is depend on ur need, but i really dun have experience on it, any dual screen user to help him? smile.gif

Sorry for the noob question, but if you're a gamer, is 16:10 or 16:9 better? Is there a significant difference between the two?
*
For game and movie mostly is using 16:9 which is 1920*1080, so is almost 1:1 mapping and compatible. But if for browsing and doing office work then 16:10 will better since you have another 220 pixel to view ur webpage or document. smile.gif

Siu_Keong and owikh84,

I made my order and payment for Dell S2409W 24" last sunday, only today I received the Delivery Notification, and when I check the order status in Dell website it stated the estimate delivery date is in 20 Oct 2008, which is freaking long time to wait , meaning 15 days time

is it normal ? or  is it they just put a long estimation for their safe state, while usually only taking 5-7 days time?
*
Usually they put 15 days as the safety time to them, u can call them to verify anyway. Hope ur baby reach soon and safe. smile.gif
