QUOTE(lex @ Jul 2 2008, 01:38 AM) Hmm.... Are you using analog VGA or DVI? On DVI, when on the 2b test, the flicker is hard to spot until i look carefully or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me? ahhh yes the viewing angle test forgot about that. Still i'm quite happy with the overall performance/price.Should not flicker at all. My 22" monitor passed every test EXCEPT the "Viewing angle" one... Can't be faulted, its TN panel weakness. That does not happen with S-IPS or PVA type panels.. |

QUOTE(yumyum77 @ Jul 2 2008, 09:29 AM) On DVI, when on the 2b test, the flicker is hard to spot until i look carefully or maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me? On DVI shouldn't flicker at all... anyway, the test 2b is completely stable on mine, but there is a slight hint of flicker on 4b which is extremely hard to notice (have to look very/extremely closely). Otherwise from normal viewing distance, all test patterns looks stabil. QUOTE(soulfly @ Jul 2 2008, 10:01 AM) lex, what monitor are u using? An old BenQ FP222W... Example detailed review here: http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/benq_fp22wh/ (the "H" version has HDMI) QUOTE(soulfly @ Jul 2 2008, 10:01 AM) Is Samsung 226BW better than 2232BW? Known differences between 226BW and 2232BW...Hardware contrast ratio 700:1 vs 1000:1 Otherwise according to specifications, both almost the same... Here's a review of 226BW: http://www.trustedreviews.com/displays/rev...Master-226BW/p1 Here's a review of 2232BW: http://www.trustedreviews.com/displays/rev...aster-2232BW/p1 The 226BW scores higher though.... Note: Don't trust Dynamic Contrast, Magic Color, Magic Bright, Senseye, thingy... Good for movies and games but not for photo editing stuff as they screw up colors on the fly. Even the reviewer mentioned this here http://www.trustedreviews.com/displays/rev...Master-226BW/p2 QUOTE The Magic Color option I mentioned earlier does what it says on the tin but like Dynamic Contrast it washes out the high end so you lose subtle colour graduations. It makes Windows more vivid but I would make sure it’s turned off when photo editing. This post has been edited by lex: Jul 2 2008, 01:55 PM |

Other reviews also gave 226BW high marks:
http://www.behardware.com/articles/662-7/2...ond-coming.html http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/03/15/Samsung_226BW/4 However, just beware of the "A", "S" and "C" panels of the same model... http://www.behardware.com/articles/667-1/s...he-verdict.html http://www.behardware.com/articles/673-1/s...er-226bw-c.html "S" panel is the best. Where can I find the Acer AL2416W for less than RM1000? is this a better choice than sammy 226BW/2253BW? i'm using it mainly for movies. |

Have to look at the label on the monitor, as pointed out in the links I've posted. the current stock are A or S or C? My bad.. it wasn't AL2416W... Re-checked, it was AL2423WD (has VGA+DVI)... saw one on display at Sri Computers. This monitor is NOT a TN panel, you can check it yourself.. Clue, there were no characteristic darkening when viewed from below as in TN panels... great viewing angles too. That was the display model... according to the price list, this model is AL2423WD, donno if its the same one or not... |

QUOTE There are many reported problems with the internal electronics of the monitor. When hooked up through DVI the monitor is said to have some 'No Input' issues, where the monitor will be connected and receiving a signal, but it will display the 'No Input' message. This little glitch requires a hard reboot of the monitor. The screen itself gets warm, some have even reported the monitor overheating. The monitor has a very strange anti-glare coating, it doesn't give the screen door effect like a lot of monitors, but it does have an odd shimmering This post has been edited by Skylinestar: Jul 2 2008, 06:53 PM |

Lets look at the positives: http://www.pcprofiles.com/dir/Detailed/Ace...200_LCD_28.html ...
QUOTE The monitor uses the P-MVA panel, which is a very good all around panel, said to outperform the panel in the Dell 2407fpw. It displays blacks excellent, and the only backlight bleed you can see are some slight bright top left and right corners, and it's a very, very small area. QUOTE VIEWING ANGLE Ok this is what really impressed me. You can look at this monitor directly from the side and there is no color blending or any strange discoloration. It looks perfect from the side angles. It's a slightly different story when you're looking from angles above and below the monitor, there is slight glare on the screen if you're not eye-level with it. Added on July 2, 2008, 7:21 pm QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Jul 2 2008, 06:52 PM) although its only RM999 (chepest 24 incher) I hope this trend continues... Price avalanche...
