you mean you can't access your modem at 192.168.1.2 right? the answer is simple. because you plug your Modem into your Router's WAN port. logically, they are on a different VLAN, hence you are not able to access your Modem.

Assuming if you set the modems IP to be 192.168.2.1 , go to Scripts ( http://192.168.1.1/admin-scripts.asp ) (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)

In Init , copy and paste this (this is your client address , you can call it 192.168.2.x , its your call)

CODE
ip addr add 192.168.2.3/24 dev vlan1 brd +

Then in Firewall Tab , copy and paste this , this is to allow connections to your modem so that you can add

CODE
/usr/sbin/iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.2.3/24 -j MASQUERADE

Did you put everything correctly , try sshing (get Putty) , and type the commands manually in Terminal and then that should do it

You might wanna turn off the firewall for a while (your routers firewall)

Your modem you change it to 192.168.2.1 , you gotta figure that out , SSH to 192.168.1.1 , to your router and login with root and as well with your admin password. Once you're in copy and paste those two commands I gave you and then try ping 192.168.2.1

You gotta make sure that your modem IP is 192.168.2.1

Hey Prasys,

ip addr add 192.168.2.3/24 dev vlan1 brd +
/usr/sbin/iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.2.3/24 -j MASQUERADE

this part here, what is he suppose to put for the ip address? is he suppose to put 192.168.2.1/24 instead?

Is your modem's IP Address 192.168.2.1 , you gotta chagne your 192.168.1.1 in your router to 192.168.2.1 first.
