A layer of RUST acts as a protestant against further oxidation, and you will see this on engineering structures like bridges, buldings etc (brown colour)...You will never rust SOLID iron like your driveshaft away from outside.. The only thing it doesn't look good. If it bothers you much claim warranty them apply some coating on your new driveshaft..

just dropping by to say thank you to hypermount for posting the TDC sensor fix at savoc.net.

Now it's problem free. smile.gif

Oh and is there no way to do some preventive measurements against this issue?

Today, good feeling with my SAVVY Manual!! flex.gif

I drive from Klang, kapar (Straight road)... Meet a BM silver 5 series.

The road is 2 way, 1 up 1 down.... Cause the front lorry is rolling very slow!!!
_______________________________________________

All the car, MPV, van, small car follow at behind.. wink.gif wink.gif
all the car waiting the chance to cut the Big truck/ lorry...

1 by 1, cut and cut and cut brows.gif
We are only can slowly cut the big lorry...

Then, a Silver 5 series cut from behind... I saw this driver very brave to cut so many car
I follow his tail cut, get advantage from him brows.gif brows.gif

we drive from Kapar to Sungai buloh old road!!

_______________________________________________

After a quite long straight road,
we reach some very sharp corner road...(like Initial D road)
I just realise 1 black Wira AB SE 1.5 tailgate this 5 series (525i) 2.5

I saw so interesting, my savvy 1.2 just follow, their car got only 1 person, I fetch 2 college inside
I act like LEARN icon_idea.gif from their way, and follow behind them 2 rolleyes.gif

feel VERY DANGEROUS, and VERY LOOK ALIKE initial D sweat.gif

after so many long corner, 5 series take lead from WiraAB (he slow a bit liao)
Then I cut WiraAB also.... Now, we cut so many slow cars
Only 3 cars leading
1st 5series flex.gif 2nd Savvy brows.gif 3rd WiraAB sad.gif
___________________________________________
Now, NEW WAR cool2.gif SAVVY vs 5 series

I challenge with 5 series at so many corners, he drive extremely fast...
But, I still follow him very hard, cause I fetch 2 big man ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

When I reach 1 corner, he suddenly left some left space for me to cut him...

then... I feel like won this match already
Reach Sungai buloh, bye bye icon_rolleyes.gif

Dear all

Good news to announce
Aux-in is now possible with the original head unit!
after banging my head for 2 sleepless nights. finally i have chosen the easy route to get it done

methods:
1. use radio
disable the mw circuitry, port music directly into radio signal input
when want to listen to mp3, just switch station to MW.

2. use cd
port the signal directly into cd line
when want to listen, have to put in a blank or silent cd

also good to know:
3. steering remote control works!
works by using resistors:
for example, 1k ohm = vol up, 2k7 = seek -

our lovely player can actually accept 5 inputs:
input 1 = cd
input 2 = tuner
input 3 = auxin
input 4 = telephone/bluetooth
input 5 = unknown

the input selection is done by 3 bits datastream from cpu. thus could not be controlled manually, unless re-flash the cpu.

I spent most of my time trying to fool the cpu into thinking that other inputs are available. no matter how i try.. it still fails.
even the bluetooth wire dangling out could not be used.

the pinout for the bluetooth:
white = V+
Black = Gnd
Blue = mute/sense
grey = audio+
red = audio-

usually the method is to pull sense pin to gnd via 1k5 ohm. but tried all ranges of resistors... not successful. even burned myself accidently connected a low ohm resistor V+ to gnd

Pictures:
Backview. The mod is at the radio section on top left.
if mod method 2 is around the center right area (the digital preamp)

lots of components missing to save cost sad.gif sad.gif

CD player unit
those experiencing cd player problem... just troubleshoot this area. most likely lack of lube
