Testing and will see how it goes. But what's the theory behind that .dll thingy? A single file (even if we are not running G) will still autorun and consume our poor batt?! Thanks!!!  notworthy.gif

I've heard about it. Kinda interested to know more too. I wonder if it's the same thing as those artistic transparent wrapper ppl customize at the small stalls.

Yes, I think renaming the extension would disable it. As a secondary precaution, I took the file to another folder and rename the entire filename and extension. Please take note that when you upgrade to 5.00.20 the installer will replace the file so you should doublecheck that the file is properly removed.

hmm.. I'm doing the same thing.. let's see if it really improves the battery life..
Thanks for the info.. smile.gif thumbup.gif

I would in turn have to thank ipmart-forums and malsingmap forums. biggrin.gif Apparently that Garmin feature was widely documented and it has cautioned of the extra battery usage. Somehow we all overlooked it. nod.gif So all users of Garmin Mobile XT v5.0 onwards will be affected unless they remove the file mentioned previously.

So far, I think this tips is accurate and is working. Last time when I charge my phone to the full, just 5 hours the first bar will deplete. Now, its 8 hours and some wifi and its still full bar! Hahaha! Maybe my mind is playing games with me.

Not to spoil your decision lar... but I feel WM is not as responsive as Symbian S60 phones. Getting from one part of the OS to the other takes some time. Its not really really long or its really so slow, just its not responsive.

The X1 does have a lot of qualities over E71 like a better camera, better display, etc. But one thing I like about the E71 is the robustness. I can check my online stuff, emails and smses without any fuss. Doing that on my HTC Diamond takes a longer time and sometimes it'll crash.

I would keep the E71 for IM-thrashing hehehehe biggrin.gif and save some money for the Touch Pro.

I have both the X1i and E71.

Well it depends on what you want.

I enjoy the slim body of the E71, and also having onboard QWERTY keyboard without involving any moving parts, sometimes is a plus!

The X1i, on the other hand, gives me a very good surfing experience, and having touch screen makes surfing way easier than on the E71. Camera wise, X1i is better. But IMO the QWERTY keyboard is a bit recessed, and might be hard to use for people with big hands, like me.

But overall, I would say the X1i is a darn good device, all rounder in every aspect that a consumer looks for in a phone; multimedia, design of the phone, feature packed! Truly deserves to be the flagship model of Sony Ericsson at the moment. Of course, it's >RM1,000 more expensive than the E71. So if your budget permits, and you truly want to enjoy the what the X1i has to give, by all means jump into the bandwagon and pamper yourself with a Xperia X1i!

well, it depends really how u want to protect it and the feeling u are looking for. the invisible shield is made of high quality films that prevent scratches on the phone which is really excellent base on reviews i've had. But remember, it doesn't cover camera lens if I recall correctly. The negative point is that it doesn't prevent damage from a drop. I once drop my phone from about 5 feet high as I was carrying some bags and luckily I have the original leather pouch which result in Zero damage. So, a full leather case with full coverage of every cornerwill of course provide better protection.

last thing is that u can always put both together. invisible shield is only a thin layer so it still can fit into leather case.

ray, u will regret taking a SE phone. It is a flagship phone but SE, bah...... "Ada bentuk ada gaya", but no 'isi' and quality. I used w810i before, my sister a w580i user, my mother a w910i user, my brother a p990i user, and my gf a z550i user.....

but now, I use E71, my sister uses iphone, my mom use Nk6300, and my brother uses N95, and my gf is anticipating a Moto Pebl/Rokr u9..... need i say more?

well, maybe u can check around first before deciding to buy, I'm sure a lot of ppl will come up with a comparison table and review of the X1 compare to the E71 sooner rather than later.

Update on the battery fix (Garmin-related) I found yesterday. It is working. An entire work day from 7am till 5.30pm with regular calls and texting and very minimal WIFI usage, only 1 bar is used!!! I think thats an improvement. I'll track more and see.

May I know the things to-do for the new E71? like charge first, update firmware, install apps, use it until low battery, and etc etc etc??

I had never used an advance phone before and Im thinking of buying an E71, I hope its a good choice for long term usage.

Added on November 28, 2008, 7:18 pmMonitoring too, normally my 1 bar will disappear very soon. If it doesn't go off by midnight tonight, then ... it's a miracle! (Bleh ... it's just that me who didn't read the garmin manual as mentioned, ha ha ha.)
