Hi guys,

I just got myself an E71 today. Need more time to get used to Nokia's new interface. My last Nokia was 3310 and I abandoned it 4 years ago for a Motorola tongue.gif

All I can say is this phone is superb!

Alright then. I'm gonna familiarize myself with voice calls and messasing before going into GPS and those other cool stuff u guys have been discussing.

Motorola E398. Considered quite a big jump that time from 3310 to E398. Hehe. Now E398 is becoming extinct tongue.gif

Guys, any interesting games that you can recommend? I only have the GT Racing game which looks terrible. After updating my firmware, my phones very very stable and smooth now. This is like the fastest phone I have ever used. Apps I have installed so far :

1. GMail
2. Google Maps (find it better than Nokia Maps although uses lots of data and its been very accurate)
3. Skype for 3 Mobile
4. Fring
5. Messenger
6. Had Worldmate (lost it after updating firmware, where do I get it back?)
7. Psiloc Wireless Presenter (still cant get it to run - help please?)
8. Snakes
9. Device Status
10. JoikuSpot
11. Mobbler
12. Advance Call Manager
13. Multiscanner
14. Sports Tracker
15. Updated Nokia Maps and downloaded the maps of Australia and Malaysia into it.

Cheers

Worldmate: Use the Download Icon in the phone to get all the original software back. Be mindful of data charges if you're not using WiFi connection.

Psiloc Wireless Presenter:
1. You have to use Option--Connect--Extend Functionality to get a file installed on your notebook. Must have Bluetooth enabled PC/notebook, paired to the phone.
2. Install the copied file on your PC/notebook and run it.
3. You can then connect to your PC/notebook via WiFi or Bluetooth to control MS-Powerpoint and control presentation or act as a remote mouse/keyboard

Good Luck

If u disable a-gps and only use the garmin then its free. The a-gps shorten the time to locate your present coordinate so you will be charge by your telco based on their rates. I tried and I got charged like RM8 plus for few minutes of usage only.

And mapking should be able to install on E71, I haven't try it yet but shouldn't be a problem.

Guys, I think I found the solution to our battery problems. I found information from another forum:

Garmin Mobile XT version 5.00.20

Change History:
Changes made from version 5.00.10 to 5.00.20:
Update the subcategories listed for City Navigator Europe 2009 maps.
Correct various out of memory conditions that can occur.
Correct the processing of a received Location Message to not save the point on the Recent Finds list.
Correct the processing of received text messages to not close the GMXT application when a text message is received without a subject.
Correct an error that occurs when a headset is plugged into some devices.
Correct the use of the directional pad for movement between hyperlinks within Flight Status.
Correct saving and editing waypoints with non-English characters.

Tips On 5.00.xx

Delete CardRunner.dll from sys\bin will save ~20% standby battery power, if you don't want to use location message.

Happy enjoying your Nokia E71. Finally....

Edit : I managed to get it to connect...But I cant use it, or rather I am not sure how to...Will have to keep playing with it...Thanks a lot mamat.
Cheers

Edit Again : I managed to get it to run a Powerpoint slide...I just chose Start Presentation and I started my already open PPT file...Then I tried to go to the previous slide and tried to use the bluetooth mouse function and then it did not work anymore...Now when I chose Start presentation again..it does not work like last time...weird...

Testing and will see how it goes. But what's the theory behind that .dll thingy? A single file (even if we are not running G) will still autorun and consume our poor batt?! Thanks!!! notworthy.gif

If I interpret correctly, the CardRunner.dll is a service file that autoruns when you start your phone. What does it do? It is a location-based service introduced by Garmin Mobile XT. It attempts to integrate your phone contacts to the entire application. Where you can share your 'current position' with your contacts who uses the same application. This is where it sucks the battery because it will keep checking for 'Location based message' that could be sent by your contacts. Because of this, parts of the app will have to run and your GPS is active from time to time (I think).

Anyway lets see if this gives an improvement. I'm still testing this tip.

Oh my gosh ... ... ... well ... I had garmin since day 1 ... so ... I can't tell there's an impact on batt life then. But hope this really works, that 20% can do a hell lot justice for my 'leather-thickening-steel'. Thanks!!!

I'm having this problem too. Can you share the steps to rename the files without messing Garmin up ?

Its already posted above. At least I got it half accurate about programs running at the background. Just the explanation wasn't the reason I had in mind regarding the .dll file. But still, just as wat I suspected, if nothing is running, there is no way the battery consume itself so fast.

I have accessed my E71 with 'mass storage' mode via USB, then located the .dll file, and added some text behind the extension to deactivate it. (Remove it is the best to go I guess if you do not need the service no more.)

Not white here. But even white will turn yellow gradually, so I doubt you'll get it anew with just a wipe. (golden rule, keep your thumbs/fingers clean) As ... it is not 'nano treated' eh ... (unless they made it into something like PSP, that would assure you can wipe it without worries, or dirt it without worries)

Yes, I think renaming the extension would disable it. As a secondary precaution, I took the file to another folder and rename the entire filename and extension. Please take note that when you upgrade to 5.00.20 the installer will replace the file so you should doublecheck that the file is properly removed.
