Aaaah ... in the dilemma of getting E71 ... should I go for it? Or should I go for E66? (I have read through tons of reviews/comments and now headache, even tested the phone in one of the Nokia concept store. E71 is on the plus side as it has much much longer battery life for usage and the handy qwerty-board. They are both very identical except for accelerometer that is only on E66.)

Furthermore, should I go for APset or avaxx/zitron set? Any user that knows more between the two would be great. (As I can see the price difference is around 300, which is not too much, not too little.)

Thanks everyone and appreciated.

Thanks a lot to both SIFU - jameslee_84 & davidmak!!

Then it shall be E71. (Yeah, not edgy about style/appearance as it doesn't looks any uglier than my current old old antique, again long batt life phone.)

Been thinking about the extra mechanism for flip/slide phones, and thus bar form is almost untouchable when come to this, longevity rocks for me.

Now it is time for another dilemma, original sets or APset, ah .. the slight 300 ..

Once again, thanks for the rich info and salutation!!

in penang, I can get ori E71 at only 1500+......

maybe u can check it here..... too bad if you're from kl bro.

Aiks, it's really too bad for KL-ian. Anyway, been seeing posts/comments and seems that Penang really enjoys the goodness of lowest pricing. How come?!

Definitely original already unless you're prepared for the uncertainties of an AP set. First the E71 is in demand and in loose supplies so AP dealers source E71s from other countries other than Singapore. I don't know if this is right but I feel that AP originating from Singapore is good since we commonly share the same product region so language and firmware updates are not a problem. Also they are not branded.

There are currently 2 origins of AP phones in Lowyat - one from Taiwan (unknown product code) and the other is Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) branded. The latter has the TIM logo imprinted onto the E71 but it has a generic English qwerty keyboard. Although it doesn't support Chinese characters, you can request the AP dealer to reflash a local region firmware. So the download is the logo thingy.

The Taiwanese handset however is original cosmetic wise but the keyboard however  has Chinese character pronunciations on it (meant for the region). The alphabetical characters are not marked in white but blue so visibility is not good until you get used to it. Software is Taiwanese region based but the product code can always be reflashed to obtain the local Singapore APAC firmware.

So unless you can get hold of a Singapore-based AP phone, I would have to suggest a original set for less headache. Apart from these irregularities, I like my AP E71 (from Taiwan) very much.

Whao, so there are headaches for APset if they are not from SG area eh. Yea, 300 seems a good painkiller for that. (As I really don't have the time traveling thru and Flo for troubleshooting. So how long can the thumbboard last? I am planning to keep this phone for 5 years. (Yeah, I'm ... not ... edgy ... once again.) Anyhow, this phone, is so tempting for a nerd like me. nod.gif

Beats me, but u have to source real hard for it. I went to a kawan's kawan's kawan's place..... so, i think he doesn't want to profit so much since he knew my kawan's kawan's kawan, and therefore my friend bought it for that price. My own set i bought original from Singapore.

KL already have the best of most things, so Penang shud have some once in awhile rite? thumbup.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

rclxms.gif Ha ha ha ha ha, that last sentence beats me, ha ha ha ha, salutation. (Yeah, KL has most of the best, if not all.) notworthy.gif

How's the speakerphone performing for E71? Seeing review said it is under par. I am relying more on speakerphone with my current phones. Thanks. laugh.gif

I found out the problem liao. U need to disable any encryption and security lock on the phone BEFORE flashing.

I manage to flash my unit liao..Now bz backing up the file...
So far, I tested the camera, shot in room light at night..I would said got improvement..smile.gif

So for E71ian that didn't disable it BEFORE flashing, then ... ... can retry?!
Any photos comparison would be great! Thanks~~~ notworthy.gif

To all my mentors, I am one of the newly 'dried' (as opposed to wet) newcomer of E71 family. Just got mine and ... ... charging. (Sshh, still have to stick with my lappy, ha ha ha.)

Thanks and great thread to follow for years to come.

Any good games to recommend on E71? (Since it is 320x240, so 240x320 is not going to be compatible I assume?)

Thus guess andrekua meant he left the phone there for installation/flash and pick up later on. Furthermore people answering the 'question' is not always the technician who is actually flashing at the back. (Ha ha ha, flashing at the back.)

Hey to all SIFUs, if I were to charge with lower ma output (eg. 350ma) charger (which comes with smaller capacity Nokia phone, and yet having the same connector) what will happen to the battery life?

My APset is coming with a weird adapter that looks like \ / shape and I am currently charging with 350ma and not the 800ma charger. Thank you.

Ahh ... so that won't affect the quality of the battery in anyway ... well ... getting a universal adapter for it then. Thanks a lot!!!!!

QUOTE(davidmak @ Nov 18 2008, 09:28 PM)
If you charge with a lower mA output current, it'll only result to a longer time required to recharge the battery. You should exchange the charger with a local charger meant for the E71 or at least use an international adapter. The original 800mA charger will charge faster, around 1.5 hours. The 350mA took more than 2.5 hours to complete charge which is too long.

Just charged with 2.5 hours with the original charger. Was hoping to get a 1.5 hours result?! but failed (Drained it till the last bar before charge.)

Seems like I need to charge each and everyday. I think when I woke up tomorrow, it'll lose 1 bar already.

Hmm ... is our network so bad that it consumes more battery power to talk on the phone? Sigh ...

Still, this is one hella impressive phone, the display, the conveniences, the never ending goodness. Woo hoo ...

It's maxed at 8GB via many posts/comments. The rest of your question I'll leave it to the SIFUs~~
