Seriously, that cannot be a reason why you don't apply to the better universities. I'm sure UCAS won't be a problem if you handle offer and acceptance.

Higher costs mate, d direct unis are mostly cheaper with the exception of Hull. Still... any advice any one?

Cardiff's living cost is manageable, it really depends on how you budget yourself. Aber, Hertfordshire have higher accommodation fees.

Btw, all the very best ! smile.gif

Hey, thanks for the wish. But what about quality? Say among the 4 direct applications unis? All I've heard so far are their marketing pitches. Any pros and cons about the quality? Anyone?

Since I did not study in any of the mentioned law schools, I speak only of their reputation.

Cardiff, Liverpool and Hull are traditional and solid law schools. Arguably Reading can now be added to this category.

Hertfordshire is a dump, and Aber not very much better. Northumbria is upcoming, but 'everyone' goes there.

Reputation is a gauge of research quality; famous institutions are mostly research intensive institutions. While a good researcher may not be a brilliant teacher (and I must say this is the minority situation), a good teacher who also conducts quality research can offer so much more than one who merely teaches. Surely you want to hear for yourself what Treitel has to say about Contract and what Penner has to say about Trust? I assure you that such experiences are invaluable.

Now I'm not saying that people who graduate from the second list are hopeless. There are many successful instances. It takes more than the law school to produce successful people. But at times, eg when applying to highly competitive positions, reputation of the institution may matter.

You don't just choose Freedonia University over Harvard just because the former is cheaper, unless of course if your financial position does not allow for a choice. The brand follows you for life. Think about it.

Quality wise, Cardiff is one of the universities in Russel Group. I personally think it is average and nothing special. However, in the eyes of employers, it still makes a difference as to which university is more reputable. Try considering Reading and Liverpool. I do heard about Hertforshire where they have some kind of Malaysian style whereby notes and suggested answers are given. Amongst the 4, i think Hull is the better one in reputation.

Whichever university that you're heading, strive harder to score a second upper/1st. Aside from studying for examinations, make sure you accommodate yourself with good research skills and not merely relying on your lectures source. Always try to go beyond that.

Ahh well it depends on results too. I will try but not easy to get to either Cardiff or Livpool. Yup, I've heard that about Hertfordshire, also heard that it's easy to score well there. Damn, what a dilemma

If you got your 60% average, do consider Reading, Cardiff, Liverpool, and Hull.

Indeed a dilemma, if you're outstanding, you'll score really well ultimately no matter where you go.
There's a guy who graduated from Oxford Brookes with a 1st and eventually got his master in Cambridge. Just quite recently, i also heard about a girl got a very outstanding 1st from Aberyswyth and is now fully financed to pursue her BPTC in the UK. My point is very simple, if you score well, ample opportunities will be opened for you.

I do know some of them who scored really well in their second year and transferred to Aberyswyth. Aberyswyth's system is such that it'll consider your second year's marks. Hence, it helps in your final year. Due to the credit hours of each subject carries in Aberyswyth, you're required to take more subjects to fulfill your 120 credit hours. Nonetheless, it will touch only about 10-20% of the normal fully covered syllabus. There are some subjects where you'll be given questions prior to the examinations.

Whilst Cardiff doesnt, your degree classification will solely depending on final year performance. I think, a fair choice would be Liverpool that it'll take 30% of your second year's result in considering your degree classification.

hello all, I've currently finished my first semester of A Levels in Segi College Sarawak. I plan to enter the UOL LLB program in SEGi as well. I heard that the my batch will take the exams in June 2013 and then the intake for the LLB will be in August 2013 if everything goes well. My question is does the first year of LLB starts in that August 2013 or Jan 2014 ?

Btw, can anyone recommend any good websites that has A quality llb essays ?? tq

Hi there, I recently got admitted to City University for my bar, but now after taking into account the financial resources needed, I'm contemplating whether should I go for it or should i just take my CLP and opt for my LLM at the same time?

Why Segi? I have heard a lot of bad reviews about it. Yes, if you were to enroll Sept 2012 intake, your exams would be held on May/June 2013.

Of all colleges, why Segi? There are tonnes of better colleges out there. I haven't hear any good review thus far regarding the law degree they offered.

Segi is ok but sometimes i suspect it's the students who are rather lazy resulting in a big drop in results. But anyways, thanks for answering my questions. I have one more question here. Is it better to do all my 3 years of llb in kuching and then take CLP in KL or use credit transfer in the last year of my LLB to get into UOL in UK and go for English Bar ? Or maybe there's a better option ? Btw, i'm not really rich so the idea of going to UK is quite a headache ... possible to get scholarship ?
