Sorry if its repeated question since i want to get the answer as close and tailor to my current scenario.

I'm 29 this year, Working for 7 years as a banker with an UK Marketing professional cert and an Australia MBA.

My dealings with lawyer due to my profession makes me interested in getting a legal qualification.

Although i went through a paper in law when im completing my MBA, it doesn't gave me more knowledge than the basics.

To be frank, when i look at the price, its even more expensive than an Aussie MBA.

FAQ

1    Is there a graduate entry route to the course?
Yes, there is a graduate entry route and you may be eligible for 3 exemptions but it is advisable for candidates to do all 12 subjects if they intend to practice law in Malaysia as this is a requirement of the Legal Profession Qualifying Board of Malaysia for entry into the CLP examinations.

2    Can I enrol as a mature student, and if so, am I exempted from the A Levels requirement?
Yes, you may register as a mature student if you have relevant working experience and may get exemptions for the 'A' Levels.

3    Is there a fast track route to complete the course earlier than the normal 3 years?
Yes, there is a graduate entry route, which enables you to complete the course within 2 years, but you will not be able to enrol for the CLP examinations.

Question:

1) Checking through the BAC website, is LLB my only options? It cost roughly 44k for god sake!

2) 3 exemptions for graduate entry route, what subjects? How essential is this 3 subject to my study?

1st Ques... before u get a recognised degree... u must have gone through some sort of pre-university programme such as STPM, UEC, Malaysian Matriculation, A-level... so... what did u do for ur pre-u? Other than those mentioned above, so far I never hear a successful case to qualify for CLP examination. Although in BAC website there stated AUSMAT, NZ bursaries.. etc see
http://www.bac.edu.my/ choose Programmes @BAC-->Postgrad Program --> CLP --> Entry Requirement

But I doubt if there is any successful case.

p/s O ya... exception.. working adult with relevant working experience. This happen to one of my fren.

I did my 3+0 Comp Sc degree + 10yrs working exp. Anyhow I've clarify with college d. UOL law degree itself is recognise by CLP.

Hi Noname,

Actually I entered IIUM in 94 using my A'Levels results so it is possible but I am not sure about the current situation. The only drawback (or advantage in my opinion) is that you will have to study Arabic and minor in Islamic Law. You have to pass Level 6 of Arabic to graduate (basically be able to read the Arabic newspaper). Why don't you try there? During my time it was really cheap less than 10K for four years including board.

BTW, a lot of my classmates are doing really well and although in my year there was only two chinese law students, both of us did well. One very high profile female opposition DAP politician was also from IIUM, one year my senior.

Anyone can comment on the "foreign lawyer" phenomena in Singapore?

please read this:
10. Can a foreign lawyer intending to work in Singapore practise his/her own law without re-qualifying?

A foreign lawyer can practise foreign law in Singapore, including his/her home country law, a third-country law, or international law, without re-qualifying, so long as that person is duly authorised or registered to practise law in a state or territory other than Singapore by a foreign authority having the function conferred by law of authorising or registering persons to practise law in that state or territory and he/she obtains an employment pass to practise foreign law.

I have a question. I'm having my SPM this year. And i'm most probably gonna start my Pre U in January next year. But if I'm doing SAM ( South Australian Matriculation ) , will I still be able to do UK Law Degree Transfer program? Because some of the UK Law Degree Transfer program requires A Levels, and I do not have any intention of doing A Levels. Opinions anyone? (:
