Watch blurays while pangsai??!! This is one damn 名句金言. Haha! If not mistaken, within one month time entry level 6-series Onkyo receiver has turned into an 8-series fever. Then follow by "cheap sub good bass" into "expensive sub good bass". Now I feel that entry level HD65 is going to change course soon or later. laugh.gif sweat.gif Hopefully I'm able to upgrade my pj after Raya... rolleyes.gif

the announcement of the panasonic ae3000 didnt come alone....there's a whole new series of JVC (4 new models) and Epson (3 new models) to fight with the lone ranger Panasonic...not to mention Sony and Sanyo did the same, and we're only talking abt full HD stuffs.

If u like DLP film like image and smooth fast action screen, 1080p and below 10k, then BENQ W5000 is your only choice. The black level is close to DC3 due to the Dynamic Iris. Latest news is the firmware 2.01 allow full ISF tuning in the menu and most of the feedback is this unit can achieve perfect D65 and hit all primary color at the correct position.

A big thanks to htkaki for letting me audition the hd65. Honestly i m impressed with the image quality and my gf who does not believe 'big picture can be clear' was equally impressed if not more hehe.

Problem is with the rainbow effect. Me and my gf were one of the unlucky ones who can see rainbow. But it was at the beginning that I've noticed very strong rainbow effect. During the later part of the audition I m not sure whether i've got used to it or i forgot to notice 'coz bz looking at good quality pictures hehe'

Is it possible to be cured from the rainbow thingy or can the eye adjust itself to get used to the effect?

Anyway i'll be joining this big family next month 'hopefully'. Now have to find screen , keep money for ps3 and htsf2300 + BDs hehehe. Headache, headache. biggrin.gif

Once again thanks everyone who has helped me and a big thanks to htkaki for letting me audition a few tvs and his precious hd65 hehe.

optoma 65 is prone to more rainbow effects compared to other more expensive dlp pj .. however many ppl in avs forum who suffered slight rainbow effects from optoma hd65 claimed the rainbow effect went away or almost none after few days.. but if u suffer from serious rainbow effects then dont even think twice .. just invest in an affordable lcd pj..

Normally if you sit too close and you have to move your eyes around to watch movie, you are more prone to rainbow effects. Normally occur in scene with high brightness object in dark background.

Or wait for the new LED DLP system from TI. It'll eliminate the color wheel which is the source of rainbow effects.

Panasonic AX-200 can eliminate this problem. However, it is a more expensive than HD65.

I think the new TI's LED DLP sys will be employed in higher end models before it makes it to entry level pj.

To all hd65 gurus. I have some question regarding output from PC to HD65. I have an old PC P4 2.8ghz and a dinosaur graphics card ATI Radeon 9100. Video card has VGA, DVI and S-Video.

I know I can hook up VGA straight to hd65. Will this give me 1280x720 native? What is the quality difference compared to DVI-VGA or DVI-HDMI Using converters? I m not sure if DVI-HDMI is workable? How about S-Video to Component using converter?

With all the options listed above, which would be the best quality? Or do i have to get a new PC/Graphics card with HDMI out?

I read online that it is possible to Upscale DVDs using FFDShow filter on the PC. Will it be possible to upscale normal avi, rmvb files also? The PC will serve as my main multimedia player b4 i get a PS3. biggrin.gif

if i am not mistaken, if you connect directly to the projector...then the picture resolution is governed by the limitation of your video card. as long as your card can handle 1280x720....dont see why not.

i am using DVI-HDMI cable and a HDMI-HDMI cable from 2 input source.....picture quality abt the same
