nice setup there pcwork, are you planning to place ur sonus faber in that way ? i think it should be min 6 feet apart,

and then, side track, the other day i got the chance to listen to the new toy speaker, damm it is good, the price is also not bad, at about 3.7k , a bit small, too small, but dont under estimate this cili padi, it is so damm hot, you will melt the moment you listen to it. just only lack in the punchy bass. overall if you like opera music and andrea bocelli. you will love this toy.

I can sense that you are scratching your itchy hands now... tongue.gif
As of now, I have seen a few here waiting for the right time to grab the Toy.
Well, the Toy is very suitable for small rooms and the slanted face of the speakers make them easier to find the matching stands.
And they do not actually requires a giant amplifier to drive them. rclxms.gif

This video demonstrates Squeezebox V3 features, Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD), analog VU meter, etc and Krell KAV-400xi with SFCD. The song played was Jheena Lodwick - Perhaps Love from her album All My Loving.

Cheers,

Auronthas

p/s: sorry for the low video resolution from my poor digital camera

respect respect pc work, you must be a very young entrepeneur, before graduate you already own sonus faber. really, you will be a very rich man one day. owning all the nice and high end stuff, and when you wanna sell them contact me yah. i cant buy brand new, only used.

but for sure, when you graduate, get a nice semi D and reserve a nice room for your beloved speaker.

hi pc work, i think now it is the time to aim for a very nice amp. maybe like sonus faber's amp, or maybe a nice audio research, or conrad johnson.. the nad, hmm, can lah, but wont bring the hell out of the baby you have there, pump in some juice and let the baby sing... sing till your butt get stuck on the listening chair and never want to move anymore.

heheh, thats what i will describe sonus faber,

first thing, it is quite hard to find old sonus speakers. most of them becomes a collection of someone who owns them. i was told , an auntie in melaka, retired from teaching, owns 10 pair of different generations of sonus faber speakers. dont know what model, but i was told. she just buy and keep them.

i would say the prices are fixed at a minimum of 3k and above, very very hard to find speakers, and also a good price, so usually most ppl who bought them at 3.5 k , they probably sell at 3.5 k used. used dont know how many times.

anyway since the emerge of toy speakers. i wonder will every sonus faber make a nice bass extender for it, or maybe if you place in a correct room size and proper placement, you dont need the bass extender.

but i would say it is a different kind of bass, a romantic one, very different from other speakers. real italian feeling

The first generation of Concertos/Concertinos are part of the "Concert Series" launched sometime in the early to mid 90s.

Most unique features of these cocert series speakers are then they have frontal tweeters that are offset, and the speakers are sold as symmetrical pairs. Also the leather wraparound and brass studs at the side cabinets.

Those familiar with older SFs would recall that the even older Electa/Elec-Amator speakers have the tweeters placed upper left of the woofer for both left n right units. With the grilles removed, it was visually disturbing (although SF claims there was no audible difference in doing so). But as market forces would dictate, SF eventually create symmetrical offset bookshelf speakers and these were the Concert series. Tweeters positioned inwards as recommended by the manual.

The Concerto is the bigger brother, with a 6" cone whole the Concertino has a 4 or 5" cone. Both have front firing ports (also offset from the centre axis), and the cabinet sides have visible brass studs, as part of the cabinet internal bracing frame.

I have a pair of the 1st Gen Concerto. A very good friend of mine has the smaller Concertino. And he's thinking of selling them.
(Mkt price going for RM3K someone said ? ... pls PM me ! )

Then came the "Concerto Grand piano" which is a floorstander with glossy piano finish for the side cabinets.

I would like to suggest to list out the models according to the different generation in the first page of this Sonus faber thread. rclxms.gif
It will be even better to include some photos of the models.. drool.gif

Hopefully, some of us here can help to gather the info...
