it's so sad to know that puffy's skin problem has not gotten better since we last chat. do you want to try bringing him to gasing veterinary hospital? we went to see dr lim chee kin before and he is very detailed and knowledgeable. call first and check if he is working, the hospital open everyday. 03 7782 3553.

hopefully puffy's condition will get better as he grows older. don't feed eukanuba because this brand is not good. their ingredients are filled with fillers and rubbishes. we feed scubby natural balance or avoderm. you can find more details here http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/

scubby is turning 1 next week! he has grown up into a very handsome boy. i have not taken any new pictures of him, but hopefully will get around to do it soon and post some up smile.gif

Casper skin was found with Demodax mites after doing a biopsy test on him, tats one of the main reason tat causes skin problem in him, currently he is not taking any antibiotics becoz he has been taking varieties of antibiotics in the previous years and causes resistant to many antibiotics now...another thing is due to his age aso. Now he's using Benzoyl Peroxide, its a medicated shampoo also which is similar to malaseb or sebolyse.

Anyway...his skin condition is still under control but i muz keep on monitoring time to time to check whether there is any new break out anot. Im like his personal doctor at home now...lolz.
*
yea Puffy was diagnose to have demodex mites by the 2nd vet i brought him to. after his first round of antibiotics, he had an outbreak and now he is on his second round of antibiotics. i am worried that one day these stupid bacteria or fungus will overcome the antibiotics (that doesnt do much harm to his body), i will need to start giving him antibiotics that will harm his body sad.gif

so now he is on his mange medication, i hope he will be much better if this medication works.

did you find benzoyl peroxide better than malaseb? cause i think malaseb is not really working for Puffy.

its good to hear Casper skin condition is under control. i hope one day Puffy will too.
I can so relate to what you mean by being the personal doctor hahaha cause everyday when i get home after work when i am playing with thim i will check and see if got anything unusual happening on his body or not.

my next biggest problem now is tht Puffy eats his own shit and lick his own pee sleep.gif"

Hi Jac

yea i think i am going to consider bringing him to the gasing vet hospital, my friend who has a min. shz. recommended to me too.

i hope puffy gets better too. my first vet recommended for me to change to the lamb and rice formula first, if it doesnt work i will need to change puffy's food to fish base food. so now still experimenting which type of food will suite him better. i read from your blog on the dog food analysis and i saw the review on eukanuba before. dont think the lamb and rice is good for him cause his outbreak was bad this time

time really flies smile.gif Scubby is 1 yr old already!
hurry up post more new pictures of him, i miss looking at Scubby's pictures u post smile.gif

puffy's condition sounds so serious. i hope it doesn't turned out to be like Casper's sad.gif

did you try asking irene kang about this? if any of her other puppies from puffy's batch suffers the same condition? actually after reading about puffy, i am also fearing that scubby might suddenly develop this if it is genetic.

i've been scubby's personal nurse since the day we brought him back. he had so much pimples on his entire body and ear infection that it took 4mths to clear. hopefully it would NOT be the same for puffy. blush.gif

oh no! why is puffy eating and licking his own business? sad.gif

Erm...the doctor recommended me to use Benzoyl Peroxide for Casper, but its working well for him...IMO. So i guess ur case is something similar to mine where both were diagnose to have demodex in them.

Make sure to monitor on his water consumption when giving him the antibiotics...it may cause kidney failure for consuming overdose antibiotics. Since he's still a pup, better make sure everything is alrite for him rather than suffering later.

I myself hope puffy wont get someting similar like Casper's case.

I didnt approach Irene at all, i kinda figure that she will most probably be no help at all
i might as well just concentrate on getting Puffy better
apart from this skin issue and eating his business, he is alright

i also dont know y he is eating and licking his business. first we figured that he might be him feeling hungry thats y but i think we feed him enough
now he eats 3 big soup spoon per meal and 3 meals a day and in between we feed in a few kibbles when he is a good boy. dont think we are under feeding him.
and when we catch him eating his business, we will scold with the tone that he will know that he shouldnt be doing that.

but he doesnt like to drink the water when i add in apple cider vinegar so i have to give him plain water alternate days

thanks for the advice larry ho

My Ping-Ping used to eat her own pee/poo as well when she was younger…. Then I realized:-

1. I got her for a petshop… as a puppy, she thinks eat, pee.poo, sleep on the same spot is alright

2. Ping was the only doggie at that time and when I go to work, she will be home alone

3. Ping have separation anxiety

4. I gave her more treats and food… that makes her poo more… and more poo to eat

5. I used to scold or smack her bumbum when she eats her pee/poo… then she stops doing it when I am around but will do it when I go to work…. Ie doing things behind my back…

6. Then, I spoke to Ping’s trainer…. Eating pee/poo is quite common amongst bored doggies… to avoid it, once they have pee/poo (at the right spot) immediately praise them and throw them toy (to distract them from eating the pee/poo) and clean the soiled area immediately. Beating them/scolding/shouting at your doggie after they soiled the area and going to eat the pee/poo sends them mixed messages:- In the doggie’s mind:- did I do wrong by peeing/pooing? Isn’t this is the area I am supposed to pee/poo? Remember, doggies like children are re-active creatures… ie. If I bring back the ball, I will get a treat… ie If I poo at the right spot I will get a pat/praise.

7. Train your dog with praise.

Pets are for life… they deserve the best.

Added on September 3, 2009, 5:04 pmThe crusty ear mange is quite common amongst puppies (puppies are carriers). Ping used to have them (Yes got Ping from a petshop many moons ago). Took her to the vet, Dr Hasnul and he gave her a jab and some ointment. She is alright.

This crusty ear mange is a mild form of the mange/skin problem… common amongst puppies, puppies are carriers and can spread to adult doggies. Get it treated and it will go away.

Hi May Yee

thanks for the advise smile.gif

we have been watching Puffy very closely for the pass few days.
When i am at work, he is at home with my parents and my maid so they will watch him.
So once he poop we will watch him for a while if he approaches his poo very close like to sniff we will use very stern voice to tell him no and then clean up the poo so he knows he is not suppose to eat it but sometimes when he wanders off to somewhere else for less 5 mins, i will catch him pooing and eating it T_T will continue to monitor him
I never beat Puffy ever if he does anything wrong, i only use a rolled up newspaper to scare him. heartache oh if whack him

we are treating Puffy's eaer mange now. the vet said that it is because Puffy's immune system is low which caused the demodax which leads to the bacterial infection on his body like armpits area. Did Ping ever get like bacterial infection from crusty ear mange? cause my vet said that once we treat Puffy's ear mange, the other skin diseases will go away. but honestly, i have my doubts...

Wow, nice place for a walk. How long is the distance? We have something like that in Klang too. It's called the Taman Rakyat, it has tarred road and jungle tracks like the ones in the photos too.

How is Snowy now? She looks like an adult dog now.
