My Heidi's ears perked up much later in her puppyhood... read that westie puppies have floppy ears... and will perk up when they grow..

Hello! Which groomer you send your little darling to? Heidi goes to Pet Safari (Adrian) and sometimes YeeLee (freelance). I know Seapark Pet Supplies used to have  group of groomer that does a very good job for westies... but they left.. anybody have their contact details?

I sent her to Pet Tales at Tmn Desa(Old Klang Road) now as they let the student cut for free grooming. Pet Tale's owner is my friend and ask me to help as she need westie to teach her student. She is still looking westie if anyone of you interested I can hook you guys up for free grooming. Before that I sent her to Doggie Shop at Hartamas. She is a owner of 2 Westies too and she did a pretty good job. smile.gif

it is quite difficult to get westie in malaysia.if you have the budget maybe you can consider to import from taiwan. it cost you about rm5k including shipping.

Dear all,

Please help!! My Scottie boy was biting his tail all of sudden last nite.. he cried and kept biting it until bleeding... he was like gone crazy, crying very loud and kept chasing his tail and bite it...i was so worried and dunno wat happened to him?? i faster wash it with clean water and apply some medicine on his tail and tie it with cloths.. he was trying to bite me cos very pain.. i tried to find/contact vets but i didnt manage to get one cos its already 10pm at nite.... after that he was okay and calm down... i suspect it may due to flea prob or his allergy to something which cause him to scratch and bite.. he does that quite often nowadays...

Anyone came across similar case?? please advice... Many thanks...

Check whether it has any infection on the tail or not (wounds, flea, ticks, maggots)? If it still persist like tis, its best to bring him to the vet for further check up. Its very unusual for dogs to do that.

the next day when i got home from work, he bites again... but through out the day he was ok according to my mom... we brought him to the vet immediately... the vet didnt say wat cause his biting... even i asked him to check whether its due to flea/ticks but he can't give me an answer to tht.. Some more he said tht it might be due to neurological prob... something like OCD, where the dogs will keep chasing their tails because of bored/ not be able to express himself... Do you guys think tht its because of tht???

One of my fren's fren said it shud be due to his diet when he looked at my dog... He recommended me to give him Vegetarian kibbles (Addiction's Zen Vege). Hope it improves his skin allergy.... Now i need to be very careful on food tht i give him and find out wat food is causing the allergy...

Can you guys provide details on food tht your westies are allergy to?? So that i will avoid next time... Many thanks...

My westie has a secondary skin infection if u hav followed this thread, u'll b able to c my westie skin prob.

Since u said ur westie is infected wit skin prob, hav u identify what is the skin prob?...if it is cause by food then it will b much more easier to be healed...if its not...then its a whole different story.

If he is chasing his tail juz for fun...then u muz train him not to do so, make sure you do it the rite way and not juz shouting at him saying NO or STOP...some dogs hav weird habits but its possible to correct it if u want to..try to correct him immediately once he start chasing his tail. Monitor him wit correction for 2weeks n c he has any changes or not ok.

food allergy will differ between westies. my male westie Sparky seems to be allergic to chicken based kibbles so he has lamb and rice flavor from Nutro. my female westie Buffy is allergic to all and has to eat the Z/D prescription diet.

Hi all, Im a new westie owner. after spending days reading most of the posts, i figure that Sasha at her 3 mths look different from actual westie. Anyway, I still love her much.

One question, her muzzle often gets stained after food, even i have been cleaning after food but those stained wont go off. anyone experienced that?

from picture can't hardly see the stain clearly.. just brownish.

i give her dog kibbles (nutri edge), but each time i will mix with water & soak about a minute b4 giving to her.

I might be cause of the wet base kibbles, tats y u c the stains now. Mayb later when she grows and u no longer need to soaked her kibbles wit water...the stains will be lesser.

So u r having a great time wit your westie now, where did u got her frm?

she's still too young to understand commands and very aggressive. but, i still love her n being so patience. haha..

i got her from pets more. they claimed she's "pure" breed, but without cert. i guess thats explain why she looks slightly different from pure breed.

haha...actually u hardly get to c a good looking westie over here tats truely a pure breed type with the standard of a westie.

Anyway...since u got it frm a petshop, better make sure she is in healthy condition alwaz such as her skin coat, diet, movement & etc. There are lots of westies diagnose with skin probs because of not knowing the parents background that is cause by irresponsible breeder.
