Watch already. For me, nothing so special. The movie is predictable. You know how the story will ends. It is more like animated movie than real movie. Bcoz you don't really see good acting, 70% is more on CGI. Story line is simple, like some forumers said, just a sci fi of dances with wolf. For dances with wolf, feel more real. Maybe becoz is human being inside the movie and very nice sound track.
Anyway is just a simple movie with very nice of CGI effect.

I also agree that the movie was 90% depending on the CGI's. But the movie was very beautiful in 3D. I don't know whether i can enjoy it in 2D as much as i enjoy it in 3D. Because it was the first movie i watched in 3D, maybe i was a bit, over-excited.

For some unknown reason, i felt really crappy after i walked out of the cinema.
Don't get me wrong, i love the movie very much.

Its like waking up from sweet dream and come back to boring reality again.

that for me was harsh. no need for that really.
im sure there are parts from "our world" that you have not known or seen before.
if you did, pandora would mean nothing to you or maybe just a piece of dirt. trust me, you have seen nothing yet. even me.
nothing beats god's beautiful mother earth.

It's only an average standard movie, but judging from the quality of the other movies recently, this movie is considered as good (uplifting its standard due to very bad competitors)

Not bad competitors... This movie has no rival at the moment. The closest movie with this kind of special effects is Star Wars Episode 3, and Avatar's special effects are light years ahead of it.

That is some sick numbers generated from the international box office. I don't think this has the legs to beat TDK's domestic numbers but the international numbers look promising.

if you really havent & want to watch, spend the money to watch it in 3D not otherwise, story is vey sci-fi'ed pocahontas/dances with wolves, disney'tised; not breaking new ground in storytelling so you wont enjoy the story as much, you might as well be bowled over the spectacular 3D images.

i'm dissapointed (storywise) on james cameron's effort story telling. it makes titanic effort; even better, (story wise).

titanic is based on a real storyline and happening with added drama while avatar is totally fantasy.james cameron wrote the script for avatar way back in 1994,so u guys can take a thking bout the development

but still i dn think it can beat titanic, tht ship is too godly for years.the dark knight?maybe....

mapping human brain waves and utilizing it in avatars doesnt mean we can make advanced AI. it's like in the 1800s, when people say when we've mapped the entire world, we could utilize its resources 100%. now that we have, we realize that we still couldnt utilize its resources. there are still millions of places to hide. heck, alqaeda still around in afghanistan!

and u missed one, most important point in advancing technologies:

profit and capitalism.

we now have the most advanced portable technology known to man available: the smartphones (iphone, blackberry etc). do u own one? do everybody in this world own one? see where i'm going with this? economy doesnt change. the future world is still governed by economy. it's the whole motivation of humans on pandora.

and by the way, the avatars werent spies. if they were, they are the lousies spies around. why? because they have 5 fingers while navis have 4.

they are there to make contact.

James Cameron should have put in a super villain into the movie if he got trilogy in his mind... like Darth Vader

it is more fitting to have an antagonist that will last till the final episodes of the trilogy for the final showdown...

2nd movie will see the revenge of human mayb? trash the whole Pandora and force Jake and Na'vi to evacuate Pandora hmm.gif

3rd movie will see the return of Jake and konco konco to reclaim Pandora.... thumbup.gif

if my understanding is correct, avatars act like negotiators between human and the Na'vi so that they'd leave their hometree in peace, and then the humans would bring it down to mine the mineral

and the worldwide gross doesn't include China (Avatar opens in China on 2nd or 3rd Jan), so it will most probably break $1Billion worldwide
