if you really havent & want to watch, spend the money to watch it in 3D not otherwise, story is vey sci-fi'ed pocahontas/dances with wolves, disney'tised; not breaking new ground in storytelling so you wont enjoy the story as much, you might as well be bowled over the spectacular 3D images.

i'm dissapointed (storywise) on james cameron's effort story telling. it makes titanic effort; even better, (story wise).

titanic is based on a real storyline and happening with added drama while avatar is totally fantasy.

Avatar likely to win oscar for best effect, but best moviei dont think can get nominated.

which is why JC's "Avatar" failed (storywise).

Sure it was entertaining in grandeur, the moon, the sci fi, the effects....
but the movie didn't move emotions of the viewer, well very little impact, well maybe to some when

when watching did we rally in our hearts that we were on the indigenous people NA'vi side against the human invader's ? not really right?

i'm sorry, i know many of you are gutted that not all are in favour of the JC's Avatar, i wasn't even made to hate the character of the Miles Quaritch (supposedly film's main antagonist) as oppose to maybe district 9's, Colonel Koobus Venter (many of us cheered when that character got ravaged by aliens in the end)

sure, avatar may boss their position at no 1 at box, it's however not on my list of rememberable movies in years to come.

go ahead, watch it (avatar) in 3D, & be awed by the movie technical effect brilliance's. cool.gif

As the movie producer put it "Avatar is not a movie you can talk about. You have to experience it yourself."

very very true,

its made with 3D foremost in mind (read EMPIRE on JC's 'avatar' long before the movie came out)
unfortunately for me they (JC team) spend so much time in 3D development that it kinda thin out the fish from bone. (on that score even star wars had better & they edge it with 'outer world' gadgets, 'other world aliens' development)

yes to many; movie appears spectacular & yes it shd watched be in 3D. i missed it, i wasted watching it in non 3D mainly because it was bloody booked out day after day. btw this 3D was mention "mother-of-all 3D" , "groundbreaking" so it's not suppose to compare other 3D's

story to me appears ho-hum, character developement (sadly) is almost secondary, JC tried as much as he can i guess but as mentioned he spend alot of developing avatar's 3D/CGI. well, today's young moviesgoers place so much into CGI; that it places way way above evoking a spirit of proper moviedom (at least for me)

I have mentioned; go watch avatar-in-3D, there you fully understand the length that JC had bet on. (he mentioned at length in EMPIRE)

dwelling other possiblities of how they should remove the Na'vi's (gassing, digging underground), well then there is no movie then laugh.gif

One of the real & biggest reasons why industry backers are heaping greatly at James Cameron's Avatar is the new technology in shooting in 3D & the overall acceptance in 3D as the benchmark for movies.. so that in hope all movies goes into 3D (bye bye 2D).

read EMPIRE on "Why Hollywood is so quick to embrace 3D experience"

This is greatly (hope) to help reduce piracy. Hollywood is losing billions of dollars & they want a cut off from piracy. even now the tecnology players are playing to create 3D home experience via vis-a-vis new plasma/LCD/bluray & even 3D glasses.

they (hollywood & the main players) are betting piracy is unable to compete satisfactorily in 3D movie experience.

[edit for point clarity]

the hollywood exec ever learn, pirate will be able to pirate anything, every technology they have to prevent piracy have been broken in very short amount of time.

but now the problem is more on the movie theater ability to give a complete 3D experience.
*
it was mentioned in the long haul, they are press for cineplexes to upgrade to proper technology (currently more cinemas are being helmed to be upgraded (newer standards) in states for real 3D experience)

they hope the piracy cannot sneakily shoot from cinemas of 3D cinemas as quickily. (80% so called pirate "DVD's" are being shot off cinema's/cineplexes). those ripping from DVD later different story.

of course they cannot completly weed of piracy immediately but thats the intention of delaying piracy from making quicker buck$$$.

That's appears to be the real intention of hollywoods obsession of james camerons avatar. They will use "moviegoers expect 3D experience" to lobby more movies shot at that standard. (as mention in article)

so less likely piracy of your said newest titles will be much later than having it "yesterday"
