hi guys, first post here.
been reading for months for v1 and v2 thread
and decided to join lowyat and n82 community.
Color~Black, AP, 3 weeks old

clsia1001 >> add me~
clsia1001 >> can u please add proper guide on factory reset / hard reset including the locale code on main page (dict recovery and n-gage, and other which is related)

and i would like to thanx the community for the Garmin XT guide, wonderful!!!~

Got some serious problem ~ need some feedbad rclxub.gif
1) I bought a leather casing with small magnet on bottom-front of keypad "0",
The magnet location is very far away from camera and opposite of antenna. Problem:...
a) battery drain very fast, n need 2 charge in 1 day (trying to confirm again)
b) the n82 body sometime is hot, (like normal charging, the body will hot), suspect the antenna is disturb by the magnet. as it need more power to search for network.
Question: Anyone have similar problem??

2) Related to first question, after that whenever i try to access the menu. the whole phone become "very slow". need 30seconds - 5minutes to acccess the menu. (after 5minutes i do a power button reset ~ conclude system didnt hang, just slow)
More info:..
a) use 1.6GB on memory card ~ mostly mp3, flv and gps maps
b) install around 20 apps and 20 java games (before the first problem accessing menu need 1-5 seconds)
c) all software install in the memory card
d) i took out the memory_card and the phone become fast again. I dont believe magnet will cause MicroSD to become slow rite?
Question: Do i need to format the memory card?? hard-reset or is it software/hardware problem?

3) emTube cannot be remove, error message is "Removing Failed"
Tried Apps
Question: Need guide to manual uninstall/delete.

4) Playing java game for 2-3hours will consume 90% of fully charge battery (game install on memory card).
Question: Anyone have similar problem??

Other than above problem, i m truly in love with this phone.
conclusion: correct choice choosing N82 over Samsung i780.
the camera is simply wonderful,
and tons of software n games r available thumbup.gif
and nokmote is fun, i dont think i need DS/Wii anymore (casual entertainment) tongue.gif

thanx
-lucas-

Added on May 24, 2008, 5:31 pmfound an n82 bug
1) I kill my Gallery process, unable to start Gallery
2) the Image folder have gone crazy and unable to delete
eg: \\n82\memory_card\Images\200805\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0\200805A0
3) Path is too long and unable to access
4) Samething happen to Video folder, but manage to delete it
Any idea to delete it?

btw i temporary solved my 82 slow problem, i delete all my music, video and picture. Still slow but better... could be memory_card file system problem. I need chkdsk on my MicroSD card. anyone own MicroSD to SD converter?

Another thing i discover, whenever i transfer file to my memory_card using usb cable/wifi (i m talking about few hundred MB). the battery life will drain like hell. I believe this is not n82 prob as my fren confirm his O2 have same battery drainage issue.

I'm not be able to answer all your questions.
But this is my view on this phone...

My Black N82(original) is 1 week old.
Normal usage (30-40 min of voice call, 10-15 min of GPS, 20 min of Wifi connection) will drain off the battery in about two days time.
It's too short to me...sad.gif
Another thing i hate on this phone is the sticky sound when pressing the left side 'Menu' D-pad.(not all the time)
It's annoying. doh.gif

yes... good news for all N82 user
my phone become fast again....

answer: chkdsk the memory card, and delete all corrupt file
u may need a MicroSD card reader as Data Transfer may not able to chkdsk on your e: drive

im wondering if the file corrupt in phone_memory what is the best action without hard-reset...

ok next task is investigate why is the N82 body is hot and memory drain problem

i own a zitron n82 sliver. sent to service centre last week in pyramid to repair one of the button coz not in position.
too bad they don hav the spare part. n i took back my hp..
thn i realize they scratch my hp.. the key pad n back hosing.
i claim from the shop. n they ask me go the nokia centre in kl coz faster.
n i went to kl nokia centre. they told me i shud claim at the pyramid cente which they scratch n shud be responsible for that..
but they r kind enuff, they say this is my 1st time. so they replace for me..
they replace the keypad cover, multimedia key n housing for me..
n lcd also don know y....
good service..
great condition n no problem at all my hp..
so i suggest if any1 going for a n82
it is best to go for original set since ori set is cheap which can get from forumer (chwlim).
if u own an ap set. u don wish they will change all those thing for u..
n my battery is lasting...

I assume you use WinXP, select all, right click -> properties.
What are the:
1) Number of Files & Folders
2) Size: ?? MB ( ?? bytes)
3) Size on disk: ?? MB ( ?? bytes)

4) Your WinXP OS partition is FAT16/32/NTFS ?

Do the same step 3 on all the folders in memory card/USB.

The total files & folders count should be same. Otherwise, you did not copy everything.

I believe it is again the cluster size difference on file storage.
*
Thanks, the total number of files and folders are the same in PC and Card

Btw the plastic thingy at the keypad is begining to peel off (hp is less than 1mth old)
I've been keeping it in me pocket commando style and didnt use any pouch or protective casing

2 days is lasting already lo. smile.gif Problem with AP phones are that most retailers always swap or remove the original parts (battery, Memory card and handsfree) with less expensive alternatives. Not to mention the warranty is not as comprehensive when compared to original products whistling.gif . Thats why AP phones are much more cheaper. I see most people here in this thread complain about battery lifetime is because they own an AP set (correct me if im wrong blush.gif ). Thats why i suspect that those AP phones are not using original n82 batteries wink.gif

Much agreed with your comments. Many local phone vendors can be sleazy and slimeballs.. want cheap, they give you cheap and minus good parts and accessories. Sometimes depend on luck lah.. if you get a good one, no trouble no fuc'ups, sure is a pleasure using the phone.
At 1st my battery lasted one day plus only..maybe because I was initially playing much with GPS and wifi, and I assumed the battery not fully optimized. I was really scared the battery was faulty. Its NOT the money or value BUT a HASSLE with wasted time and effort to claim warranty.
I've seen many times at shops selling phones like hot cakes to foreign labor workers and I think they're not particular about the phone as long as cheap. Thats where the sellers make big profit and skimp on quality parts. To these workers, a cell phone is like gadget dream come true!

I always overnight charge at Day 1 and 2.

You can check Nokia Battery Genuine by checking the battery code. You just key in your battery code at the nokia homepage. They will tell you whether your battery is genuine/new or not.

I just own a Nokia N82 black. I found that the casing is easy to get scratches. Any recommendation on how to protect the casing? Where can buy?

DO NOT overcharge Li-Ion battery...your battery lifespan will be shortened if you do so.
