You can check Nokia Battery Genuine by checking the battery code. You just key in your battery code at the nokia homepage. They will tell you whether your battery is genuine/new or not.

I just own a Nokia N82 black. I found that the casing is easy to get scratches. Any recommendation on how to protect the casing? Where can buy?

Hi, Thanks for your recommendation.
I am staying in jb.
Do u know where I can buy in JB?

For the transparent skin, could you share your skinned N82 photo?
Curious to know how it look like. rolleyes.gif

DO NOT overcharge Li-Ion battery...your battery lifespan will be shortened if you do so.

WOW sukhoi37 i think you should do your research more rather than jump into conclusion.

Maybe when u r free try to read something here ---> http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm before making such remarks.

A unique drawback of the Li-ion battery is that its life span is dependent upon aging from time of manufacturing (shelf life) regardless of whether it was charged, and not just on the number of charge/discharge cycles. So an older battery will not last as long as a new battery due solely to its age, unlike other batteries.

KTHXBAI!

WOW brother, I dun get your quote from the article. yawn.gif

What i said in my previous post is overcharging Li-Ion battery will shorten its lifespan.

ya it's true that I didn't do my research.
but I heard about the info from a very experience technical person.

And i'd spent my time to read that article.
This is what i got which is similar to what i'm trying to say.

QUOTE
What happens if a battery is inadvertently overcharged? lithium-ion is designed to operate safely within their normal operating voltage but become unstable if charged to higher voltages. When charging above 4.30V, the cell causes plating of metallic lithium on the anode; the cathode material becomes an oxidizing agent, loses stability and releases oxygen. Overcharging causes the cell to heat up. If left unattended, the cell could vent with flame.

Tell me if my interpretation from this quote is correct.

If I charge my phone battery using a charger with higher voltage for long hours will damage the battery.
If I charge my phone battery using a charger with lower voltage for long hours will not damage the battery.

Hi Handsome,

Your hometown in JB?
I will try to search in City Square. Currently, I am using pouch now. It is quite inconvenient to take out from pouch especially while i am driving.

My budget is below RM50

Lithium-ion batteries can rupture, ignite, or explode when exposed to high temperature environments, for example in an area that is prone to prolonged direct sunlight. Short-circuiting a Li-ion battery can cause it to ignite or explode, and as such, any attempt to open or modify a Li-ion battery's casing or circuitry is dangerous. Li-ion batteries contain safety devices that protect the cells inside from abuse, and, if damaged, can cause the battery to ignite or explode.

Guidelines for prolonging Li-ion battery life

* Unlike Ni-Cd batteries, lithium-ion batteries should be charged early and often. However, if they are not used for a long time, they should be brought to a charge level of around 40% - 60%. Lithium-ion batteries should not be frequently fully discharged and recharged ("deep-cycled") like Ni-Cd batteries, but this is necessary after about every 30th recharge to recalibrate any external electronic "fuel gauge" (e.g. State Of Charge meter). This prevents the fuel gauge from showing an incorrect battery charge.
* Li-ion batteries should never be depleted to below their minimum voltage, 2.4v to 3.0v per cell.
* Li-ion batteries should be kept cool. Ideally they are stored in a refrigerator. Aging will take its toll much faster at high temperatures. The high temperatures found in cars cause lithium-ion batteries to degrade rapidly.
* Li-ion batteries should not be frozen (most lithium-ion battery electrolytes freeze at approximately −40 C; however, this is much colder than the lowest temperature reached by household freezers).
* Li-ion batteries should be bought only when needed, because the aging process begins as soon as the battery is manufactured.

It's the best protection for your n82.
it covers almost full body of the phone.
it also has lifetime scratchless warranty.
no more pouch needed with this shield.

don't try those crystal case, it will scratch your phone.

(1) This is a known problem. N82 camera is activated using magnetic sensor (same like door alarm) when you slide the camera cover open/close. Even though your pouch magnet location is far, it is still possible to be the source of the problem. Try not to use the pouch for 1-2 days and check the difference.

(2) Most likely due to one/some apps that you installed, which is running and taking up the processor/memory resources all the time. This app(s) might also be the source of battery draining fast.

e.g. I have one game called Diamond Twister. If I leave this app open in the background even without playing it, my full charge battery will go down to zero in 6-8 hrs. If I close it, my battery can last 24-48 hrs.

(3) No idea yet. Try install to overwrite it and uninstall to clear everything.

(4) Depends on what game. My NFS Pro Street drains full charge within 2-3 hrs if I'm playing it continuously.

(5) Plug in the micro-SD as USB/Card Reader into PC and delete it.
Do not simply kill any process, as it might have consequences, such as what you encounter.

(6) I don't have problem transfering 2GB of data using USB Cable. Battery does not go down even 1 bar. But it takes somewhere 40-50min.

Looking to buy this phone but judging from responses, the battery life is pretty weak. 2 days at most for normal usage?

I'm using k750 now and I can go a week without charging so I'm quite hesitant to put my money down just yet.

it depends on your usage.
but i think maximum would be 3days. sweat.gif
maybe this is normal for such feature packed phone?

my w810i also can last for 1 week.

powerful camera, built-in GPS receiver, wifi, ngage, mp3 player...etc
this phone is just too powerful to resist. laugh.gif

W960 should be another nice choice.
i heard its battery is remarkably long lasting. (from GSMarena review)
but it's out of my list after seeing so many ppl complaining about the problems they got with this phone.

This is normal for most Nokia N Series phone. It can last 0.5-3 days... averaging 1-1.5 days only. Of course, it depends on your usage.

e.g. My friend N95 can only last 0.5-1 day on every weekday tongue.gif with the standard recommendation off. (WiFi off, on GSM only, no apps/screensaver/default, etc.) original avaxx.

Not forgetting Nokia 16M colour LCD eats up more battery juice than SE 256k LCD, as claimed...

Some measure, I have dual charger in office and home. Mobile charger in car (for GPS). Otherwise, if battery is your main concern, I suggest don't get N Series phones sweat.gif

Believe it or not, when I'm using the old 8210 previously (black and white LCD) it can last me 4-7 days, depending on how many calls I made, which is similiar to my current usage now. Just for calls and sms only. Somemore ringing tone is loud thumbup.gif

Bottom line is, the more complicated the device, the more battery juice it will drain. But perhaps, there might be some exceptions.

Thank you snakevenom. This is very good information on Li-ion batteries.
