Hi guys

Fully charge n82 on Friday 1607hrs (9/5/08)
Now Wed battery warning is running low
Only use it to call one number only (39seconds)
Bluetooth was disabled, didnt use camera or radio or sms
According to the manual standby should be 210hrs (8.75days)
Is this normal? battery last for 4days only? Less than 50%

Disable wlan scanning the manual says will save battery consumption.
How to do that?

Thanks

210 hrs are under laboratory testing, i.e. controlled environment. Different telco provider, on different frequency (GSM900/1800/WCDMA/etc), different location with different signal strength, etc. will drain more battery juice.

To get 210 hrs,
(1) fully charge the battery.
(2) take out your SIM card or set the phone to Offline.
(3) switch on and let it at your desk until it runs out of battery. Also ensure the environment is at 20-25°C with minimum humidity.

I tested with my previous N80, with SIM card and minimum usage as you stated above, last 3-4 days only. Without SIM card/Offline, it last me 7-9 days.

Recommendation:
(1) Disable wireless - Set wireless scanning = off
(2) Use GSM on default. If you need to browse/video call, then only set to 3G(UMTS) mode.
(3) Disable as much apps running in the background (press and hold Menu). Also uninstall those screensaver, etc.

BTW, for those who experience short battery life, do you mind to state whether your set is original/AP and also you think your battery is original/AP.

Hi

The battery and phone is original.
As at 1200hrs battery still got one bar left (life is 4days 20hrs ++ ).
Will try the phone without any sim card after battery really dead and recharge.
Maybe can then try different sim card (digi maxis celcom) and see which telco consume most power.

Any1 want to ta pau me going out to lunch.
Will report back later.

Hi

Sim card battery consumption with N82
Wth celcom postpaid, battery standby last 5days
With digi prepaid, battery standby lasy 4days
Therefore Digi consume more power than Celcom

Using windows explorer I copied all contents from micro sd card to PC
After copying, the PC show 25mb but the for the card the total memory used is 45mb
What is occupying the balance 20mb of space, how to reveal the hidden content/prog in win explorer if there is any?
I have already set win xp to show all files (in control panel)

When I use nokia backup the size would be 30mb only

Bye

You copy using Nokia Browse N82 connected as PC Suite ?

You should connect using "USB Transfer" or pull out  µSD card, read using card reader. A lot of system files in E:\sys, system, private, etc are not shown in windows explorer if you connect as PC Suite, even with all hidden/system files viewing enabled.

First I connected using "data transfer", and copy/paste from phone to PC
I have also tried using card reader to copy the files over to PC

Both gave me the same results, the amount of space used in memory card is 45mb
but the amount of space used in PC after copying over is 25mb only
there is 20mb un accounted for

I assume you use WinXP, select all, right click -> properties.
What are the:
1) Number of Files & Folders
2) Size: ?? MB ( ?? bytes)
3) Size on disk: ?? MB ( ?? bytes)

4) Your WinXP OS partition is FAT16/32/NTFS ?

Do the same step 3 on all the folders in memory card/USB.

The total files & folders count should be same. Otherwise, you did not copy everything.

I believe it is again the cluster size difference on file storage.

Thanks, the total number of files and folders are the same in PC and Card

Btw the plastic thingy at the keypad is begining to peel off (hp is less than 1mth old)
I've been keeping it in me pocket commando style and didnt use any pouch or protective casing
