Hi - i've just signed up for 1.2MB in Setapak, in case anyone's interested here's a review to share a comparison of my current 1MB TMNet line versus P1's 1.2 MB w1MAX.

lol is streamyx can beat P1, then P1 no need service already.
if streamyx better then izzi, izzi wouldn’t operate until now.
If streamyx very good, jarring wouldn’t operate till now.

Well, I really want them to support all of PJ now since Bandar Utama area is now a recognized MSC cybercentre. tongue.gif

As for the CPE, I think there's something confidential in there they don't want us to know. And since you mentioned port forwarding, I wonder if it'll increase download speeds further later. drool.gif

Not at all, if I have 3 house and 1 company?
Where will I registered?
Is it each house and Company registered for 4 Wimax?
Moreover, the Wimax can be move to wherever place that have coverage’s.
Furthermore, the modem where to put is our freedom privacy.
On top of that, we can escapes the limit  tongue.gif

According to the contract, you only use the CPE at the location you are registered to.
Hence, you can put the CPE wherever you want within your home (that's your freedom) but not bring to one place to another. That's what the nationwide access charges are for. I think it's not activated yet.

P1 is the name of the company, and P1 W1MAX is the name of the WiMAX service.
At the moment they only have one WiMAX service that's for the home user.

No most of my friends are obviously on streamyx. There is a forumer near my place who says he is happy with the speed as well and agrees on the need for good modem placement. He experiences slowdowns at night, which i don't so far.

This is my simple take :

1) UNHAPPY Streamyx subscriber - getting speeds below 1Mb/s
Try it out. You have 15 days to give it back. to taste the pie you might stand to loose RM50 in admin charges.
This is me. If TM had a 2MB line closer to ~100 i might be willing to pay. so my decision is simply on whether to pay RM10 more better speed on W1MAX 1.2M. There's why there's no verdict smile.gif

2) HAPPY Streamyx subscriber
What the heck are you doing in this forum ? smile.gif
But seriously if you're in a new area with new infra speeds can be pretty good. So you might be happy going for TMNet for a new line.

The rest of the considerations like 20GB cap are really on technicalities. Although i realize it's got an effect on me coz i've slowed down on my torrents but recently realizing there's a cap i'm downloading like crazy. human nature no?

No ISPs nowadays will not have in their T&Cs some form of fair use or bandwidth capping disclaimer. What they'll do to cap you or if there really is a cap i'll need to find out myself or maybe wait for some other forumers to confirm it. Although i have to agree that even for me without an active torrent lifestyle, youtube itself can be a real sucker and 20G/month if insufficient. But maybe they were thinking of the more casual surfers, which if you think rationally, is quite a bit.

BTW i took W1MAX 1 year contract at RM99 instead of RM89 because i am certain the landscape and price will change soon. 2 years if i'm still at these speeds at the same price i'll be terribly disappointed.

That's what they say but from what I heard, they're not limiting just yet. Coz as you know, most subscribers haven't switched just yet. tongue.gif

Hope it can stick with this speed cry.gif
I scared that after trial usage the speed will drop sweat.gif
Advice, don't too happy. The monthly bandwidth is conform 20 Ginga Bytes (include DL and UL)
They stated that their 20Gb is more then maxis and celcom sweat.gif
I feel that is not fair for the pakages,

Such as,

1200kbps pakages (RM89)
DL-1200 , UL-500
Monthly Bandwidth 20 GB

2400kbps pakages (RM199)
DL-2400 , UL-500
Monthly Bandwidth 20 GB
Not fair are the UPLOAD speed and the Monthly Bandwidth at 2.4Mbps
But the price incress double, is it resonable the Monthly Bandwidth & upload speed double up?
Seem the $ already double up

any opinion?

should we voice to their management?

if should we need many people complain, yesterday suggest them about the issus, they said that only myself needed only o.O sweat.gif
help help o.O by together many people complain they may improve their pakages, said by their higher technical yesterday he call me.

WHAT? we can only use 20GB per month.... shakehead.gif
