Odd. Does that mean P1 no like Low Yat? ROFL!

Anyway, I'm curious to know what happens if you deplete your 20GB. I know the Terms state shall not exceed but what's the penalty? If there is one. wink.gif

Run a ping and tracert to the forum and compare the results.

Maybe the latency is too high causing packet loss hence dropping your connection.

Should call their careline to inform them on the issue.

I wonder why people don't like to use careline ... I always complain to StreamyX and I think it's the right way to do.

I think both are good ... if the careline received the complaint, they will escalate to solve it. If more and more people calling, they will need to solve the problem even more urgently as it could affect their KPI.

Hehe ... teamwork!

for now user are limited & less complain. problem resolve is fast.

wait until users grow big, could it be next Izzi hmm.gif "next thing you know careline engage/brick"

Well careline is actually seperated into at least 2 levels of support. normally the careline we called is go to level-1 suppport which might take sometime to solve or the person answer your phone doesn't even have the technical background. That's why sometime after you complain, the problem will still remain unsolve.
If we could have their direct number (at-least level-2 support)/technical department number, thing will be get done faster.

Yup, is truth that they will slow down your connection once you hit the 20GB bandwidth if you do P2P download (IPTV also kind of P2P). They will monitor your activity through their system. I got this information from their senior manager who help me continue subscribe w1max plan after trial account ended.

Haha... Definitely they have their staff reading this thread.
Question is how often they check this thread only.

It really great also when P1 W1Max have their official support forum.

High latency doesn't cause packet loss (unless it approaches what passes for infinity in this milieu).

There is a wait time for the packet to return, if the time is crossed, it's considered as a packet loss. When you ping, it will not wait forever for the packet to return, right?

I believe the wait time is 2 seconds.

I strongly believe the 20GB is on top of the P2P throttling. Meaning P2P will be throttled and 20GB maximum capacity is on top of that. So don't think they will let us P2P until 20GB before they start the throttling... it's like a fail safe mechanism to avoid people download using china p2p client (which is not able to be detected by their DPI) or http file download etc.

Haha ... you will never know some people will post silly question like I pay for 1.2 Mbps, why I'm only getting 800 kbps question? or Why I cannot get 1.2 Mbps while doing p2p download?

There is a wait time for the packet to return, if the time is crossed, it's considered as a packet loss. When you ping, it will not wait forever for the packet to return, right?

Different ping programs make their own decisions about when they consider a packet lost.

Standard ping (as found on Unix and Mac systems) will wait forever unless you explicitly give it a limit. This is correct behaviour.

Windows ping - a half-aborted fetus of a program - has an absurdly short timeout, but that doesn't mean you have packet loss, it only means that Windows ping is incorrectly reporting packet loss.

QUOTE
I believe the wait time is 2 seconds.

A UDP packet can never truly be written off, in terms of protocol. It may arrive 25 years later. But of course the application will have given up by then.

A TCP packet is considered lost after the retransmit timer has expired. This time varies based on network conditions but I think 3 seconds is a typical starting point.

Which brings us to what I meant by "unless it approaches what passes for infinity in this milieu". When we are talking about a 3-second wait, we're no longer talking about typical broadband latency. Is anyone getting 3000ms RTTs from P1?

I think P1 now slowly moving toward the step of 'Izzi'. As I hardly get to browse a web page every night (7PM ~ 12 AM) since after I subscriped their plan this monday.
Althought I did a speed test on speedtest.net, which the result is High Ping (220 ~ 350 ms) with download speed of 1400 ~ 1600 kbps BUT upload test totally can't even started or just 1 ~ 5 kbps.
I'm considering of cancel my subscription by next week if this doesn't change by end of this weekend.

20GB fair usage policy is good in order to control the service quality and fair for other users as well!

For downloaders I don't think that P1 W1MAX is suitable for download purpose because according to P2P design sharing within network example (Streamyx to Streamyx) will be much effective comepare to sharing in between different network!

I am looking forward P1 will expand their coverage to Cheras!

I do download quite of bit of stuff, but I think 20gb should be sufficient. That's about 20 albums a month/5 movies? I don't even download that much now...

I am facing the same problem.. I keep getting dc at night and the speed seems to deteriorate over time. I called up customer service and they assure me that this problem is temporary because they are doing some upgrade with their towers. They will send a technician over to my place in the next few days.

so far the support team have been responsive. I dunno if i wnana make a big fuss out of this cause when the speed gets really slow, i just need to restart the modem and its good to go. But then again i am a paying customer and i should expect the best service from them?? So far i am still satisfied with the service.
