I also applied P1 Wimax Trial account and been approved 2 weeks ago. They called ask confirm my details information about sending me the modem to me. But till now, I still not yet see any P1 people coming over.
Althought I've been kept calling their Custom Service Hotline but i only get the answer of 'You case is been processing, will get back to you soon'.
Haiz, What a good service....

Overall P1 Wimax download speed still satisfied for surfing, HTTP download and smooth online video streaming (YouTube (US), TuDou (China) and etc ). Havne't tested on online gaming and P2P yet.

But not the upload speed which so unstable, sometime upload speed is only 10kbps, so i'm quite worry how it will be when doing VoIP or video conference.

I'm currently under Trial period for 2 weeks without any charges. Considering of signed P1 packages and throw my Izzi which going to expired (1 year contract), been using Izzi for almost 1 year and the speed is totally unacceptable can't even do download from Microsoft website. Yet slow surfing, the download speed is like 1 ~ 15 KB/sec not to mention about online gaming, Voip or Video streaming.

Attached few screenshot of Wimax Speed Test around Jalan Genting Kelang, Plaza Prima Setapak, 8th floor.

Download test from Microsoft website (Visual Studio 2008 SP1):

Super Speed for HTTP Download, Online Video Streaming (eg. Youtube) and surfing. But definitely not P2P as only get 1/3 of the plan speed for 1.2Mbps which is around 50-60KB/s.

I've asked their Customer Service Senior Manager regarding "Fair Usage" policy of 20GB monthly cap. He said that this policy will only applied to those who torrent/p2p whole day and night.
Others user would be fine with that.

So, Xunlei consider as P2P or HTTP/FTP, not download via torrent file/link? Hope someone can answer this.
Thank you.

ROFL! Well...that's where he should be asking if problems occur.

Then again, I guess he wants to know if there's anyone else in his area experiencing similar personal problems.
*
Well... As far i experienced their customer service really worst as they can't even help nor give me a firm answer. and yet they din even followed up the case we report.
Until...I send an email to their customer service and "spam" almost every email account of P1.
Finally their senior manager call up and get everything done within 1 afternoon. So far i complain any problems through his direct contact number that he gave me and get everything solved within 1 day with good followed up.

My trial account is expired and will continue subscriped their plan as so far quite sastified with their service and connection within setapak area.

There's many problems that i report to:
1) Been notified approval of trial account and will send the modem over but after 3 weeks still haven't received any modem althought have few call in between from P1 to confim my details.
2) After received the modem, I did complain about the upload speed cause sometime the upload speed is only about 40-50kbps.
3) Low connection speed for certain period of time, for example, 6 - 8.30PM within setapak area.
4) Always DC after 1 or 2 hours when playing online gaming on last week.
5) High ping when playing online game on last week.
6) Unable to online when they having scheduled maintanence suppose only minor interruption.
7) When BT, unable to get full speed of my trial package speed.
8) and etc.

Well, honestly, it's not very possible to use up to 20GB without doing torrent and p2p download.

Try email spam to Streamyx and see what happens.
*
I guess online video streaming or sniff and download HTTP of online streaming should also able to use up 20GB.
As normally I do download through the link from online video streaming.

I think both are good ... if the careline received the complaint, they will escalate to solve it. If more and more people calling, they will need to solve the problem even more urgently as it could affect their KPI.

Hehe ... teamwork!
*
Well careline is actually seperated into at least 2 levels of support. normally the careline we called is go to level-1 suppport which might take sometime to solve or the person answer your phone doesn't even have the technical background. That's why sometime after you complain, the problem will still remain unsolve.
If we could have their direct number (at-least level-2 support)/technical department number, thing will be get done faster.

Yup, is truth that they will slow down your connection once you hit the 20GB bandwidth if you do P2P download (IPTV also kind of P2P). They will monitor your activity through their system. I got this information from their senior manager who help me continue subscribe w1max plan after trial account ended.

if P1 W1MAX staff reading, a official support forum is very important

===off topic===
now i think most MY isp hardworking resolving problem. think of rm50 million sweat.gif

Haha... Definitely they have their staff reading this thread.
Question is how often they check this thread only.

It really great also when P1 W1Max have their official support forum.

I think P1 now slowly moving toward the step of 'Izzi'. As I hardly get to browse a web page every night (7PM ~ 12 AM) since after I subscriped their plan this monday.
Althought I did a speed test on speedtest.net, which the result is High Ping (220 ~ 350 ms) with download speed of 1400 ~ 1600 kbps BUT upload test totally can't even started or just 1 ~ 5 kbps.
I'm considering of cancel my subscription by next week if this doesn't change by end of this weekend.

Last 2 weeks the speed is so great, i can play online game and youtube'ing.
But now, i cant even browse any site smothly included google in setapak area.
I guess is the number of users is increasing and their base station bandwidth cant support with this 'potential' growing customers.

I am facing the same problem.. I keep getting dc at night and the speed seems to deteriorate over time. I called up customer service and they assure me that this problem is temporary because they are doing some upgrade with their towers. They will send a technician over to my place in the next few days.
*
Even I did restart the modem for N-times, but the speed still the same... slowwwww.....

do u know what was the problem?

I have send them the speedtest result and ping test to them to solve the problem.
Because I'm getting only 1kbps of upload speed although I'm having 1.3 mbps of download speed. But still I can't browse any web.
So, I do keep complain to them directly through Level-2 support (who have technical knowledge). Hope it could be solved soon.

Yesterday, the speed was great but i guess is because not many student here as now is semester holidays. We will see how was the speed after all college student is back.

PS: I need to know how many P1 user experience slow connection in setapak area so that when I complain I can said not only me facing the same problem but many other facing too. So that they will work out fast.

Well, that's only one user's feedback, can't judge a service by one user right...have to give some time and when they finish the whole Malaysia implementation, then we can judge where the service standard lies.
*
Count me in...
I'm also W1Max user in Jalan Genting Kelang Area.

When I'm a Trial User, the speed in this area WAS fabulous.
But since after official launch of W1Max in this area, the speed dropped significantly especially the Upload speed and the connection quite unstable.

I want to know how much has it drop? does it go below the speed they promised?
*
Well, it drop almost 60%.

For example,
1) normally the upload speed i got was 200-300kbps but recently i only got 5 - 40kbps. Promised upload speed was 360kbps (~70% of 512kbps).
2) Download speed could maintain around 170-180KB/s (~1400kbps) but now about 20 - 120KB/s and quite unstable (non-constant speed). And the connection will disconnected when it hit the maximum download speed.
3) DC quite (daytime and night) often even not in rainy day. When rainy day, totally not able to online.

Well...
Ping across country is about 500-630ms or even higher. Do you think this is normal?
Ping within KL already 120 - 230ms (mostly, especially at night time). Is this normal too?

Few weeks before, their ping only <110ms. But when more subscriber, the ping keep increasing.

Can't really answer that question, can I? As it's subject to where you ping to and whether your destination is congested.

Try to ping to their own website page www.p1.com.my, if the ping time is above 100ms well, then you can be sure that's a valid problem there.

Screenshot and blast their careline lah ... posting on Lowyatnet also won't help you much  tongue.gif

For those new subscribers, it's fine since refund is possible during the trial period. For those early birds, lol ... too bad ...
*
The main reason for slow and unstable connection is because too many subscriber within Setapak area even after I've directly complain to their management and send a technician over for checking. The problem still remain. The only time free of problem is when collage holiday or long public holiday, then the speed is supre.

PS: Posting is lowyat.net is jus to share the experience with wimax to others forumer.

Hi there,

You should be getting an email notification when you have reached 15GB as a warning letter smile.gif

Thank you!

Even I not getting warning letter, but recently the connection really unstable even the light is stable yellow/green especially at night time (after 6.30PM) daily. No matter what direction i position the mode still getting the same. Most of the time, google page also can even loaded.
It really frustrated after back to home from work and cannot get online at night. mad.gif

Others than that, in daytime/morning the speed would be super (Sometime). cool2.gif

Note:
1) single user with P1 Wimax, no sharing, no router, nothing. direct cat5 to laptop.
2) Been calling customer service many time but still get no answer or update.

Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback and our sincere apologies for your situation.
Waring letters are only sent to users who are reaching their 15GB limit (out of the 20GB limit).
Can you try facing your modem towards Jalan 4/23A and let us know if there is an improvement in the situation?

Thank you,
Packet One team

Sad to said that I did position my modem to face Jalan 4/23A at my condo balcony but the result still the same at night time (peak hours).

Another question is that what the max floor the wimax support upto because my tenant soon to expired and need to find others place.
So it pretty tough task to find a condo (low floor) within wimax coverage as i been contracted for 2 years (Convered from trial account).

I'm a disappointed customer after subscribed P1 for trial. Going to return the modem to them later this afternoon.

My story
My area was sec21/** and it's very near to paramount.
The reseller was telling me my area is coverage and so I just give a try since there's 15 days trial period.

I applied for 1.2mbps rm89 2years contract on 24 December 2008. and the reseller said I need to wait 12 hours to get activated.

On 25 December 2008. Finally I got to connect at night and it is really fast. I'm happily watch youtube and download some files which I never have that kind of downlaoding speed before at home.

On 26 December 2008 morning. The modem unable to connect and red/orange light kept blinking. I called up the call-centre and they said they will sent the technician to my place to check. In the same times, I do called up the resellers and he came over my place with his demo set. His demo set works fine and mine is NOT at all. So he assumed the modem has problem and requested me to call up the centre for technician help. Call-centre said the technician will give me a call within 24hrs.

On 27 December 2008. No one call, I call up again .. and said same thing... "The technician will follow up within 24 hours"

On 29 December 2008. No one call.... and i got the same phrase "The technician will follow up within 24 hours"

After 24 hrs,
On 31 December 2008. NO NEWS.. CALL UP and same thing, "The Technician will follow within 24 hours"

On 2 Jan 2009. Once I verify my Name. The Call-centre person also shocked when saw my record to called up, and he is friendly enough to help me and put an URGENT NOTE.. and said "He will make sure the Technician will follow up within 24 hours.

On 3 Jan 2009. Finally someone called and she said she saw my urgent message and she will sent one technician come over my place and the technician will call me before he come.. END UP !! NO CALL !!! KNN

On 5 Jan 2009. I called up and ask is why taking so long to response and it's just an easy things! and I got the same phrase again and again "The Technician will follow up within 24 hours.."

On 6 Jan 2009. I only used p1 less than 2 hours on 25 December 2009 .. and the rest of the continuous day I can't able to connect. I have fed up for this kind of service and my 15 days trial period going to finish. and I called up ..same thing, "THE TECHNICIAN WILL FOLLOW UP WITHIN 24 HOURS and WE CAN'T CONTACT THE TECHNICIAN DEPARTMENT.. EVERYTHING HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE CALL_CENTER.

AND YES!! I GOT BILLING STATEMENT INTO MY EMAIL TOO !!! (Only their billing statement so efficient)

LATER ON, I WILL THROW BACK THEM THE MODEM. vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif
