I hv not tried E960/B932 but from my current E156 Huawei USB modem, it's btter than ZTE, bcos recently, MAXIS guy came to my house for checking using ZTE and after checking, told me very bad signal & can't even log-in whereas, once I plug-in using my E156, Signal is acceptable & even getting ~200-450kbps
So new huawei modem probably much better than the older one. QUOTE(skadead @ Feb 20 2009, 08:53 AM) hi, maxis has E960 Wifi Modem and B932 Modem, any chance this has better reception than ZTE... Thanks Added on February 20, 2009, 9:23 am@Romramka & others using Maxis 3G internet on the go packages, I think we should not compare further Maxis 3G & Maxis Broadband. I'm not sure of the real tech regarding these 2 which all the while I thought should be the same but after checking wth few Maxis guys, you & others, seems to me Maxis broadband & 3G are entirely diff game...Maxis broadband customers keeps on complaining of line congestion whereas those on 3G (Inc you & me) don't really feel it except going to those blind spots or areas without Maxis coverage. So those using Maxis 3G should actually discuss in this dedicated Maxis 3G thread? http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=390525&hl= This post has been edited by stimix: Feb 20 2009, 09:23 AM |

But looking for more info before I hit the button maxis = 3GB, can be found here: http://maxis.com.my/personal/broadband/termncon.aspQUOTE 5.3 Excessive Usage 5.3.1 Each customer’s total usage per month shall NOT exceed 3GB of data volume transmitted (total upload and download usage). This is to ensure that no individual hogs the bandwidth at all times. 5.3.2 Maxis reserves the right to reject the said application or charge for any additional data volume transmitted from what is already allocated. celcom = 5GB, can be found here: http://www.celcom.com.my/cep/xresources/Ce...fair_usage.html QUOTE 3.2 For customers found to be utilising the service excessively and exceeds their monthly volume allocation of 5 Gigabyte (GB), Celcom will reserve the right to reduce the customer’s speed or bandwidth with or without prior notice. This action by Celcom is to ensure that fair access to all other customers on the same network. This speed or bandwidth reduction will take effect from the day the breach is detected and will last until the customers next billing cycle date. On the bill cycle date, the customers volume allocation will be reset and the customer will then be promoted back to their original speed allocation. streamyx = unlimited (depends on package) |

Thanks cloudstrife07. If we didn't use P2P, I think it's a bit hard to hit over 3GB or 5GB usage per month. What do you guys think? Has anyone reach the limit that is not using any P2P?

Anyone facing error message which says something like
'no answer from remote computer/connection, so the port used are closed. blablabla for Help and More info lablabla' So some reason i was unable to connect to 3G from one of my office these few days. But previously, i had no problem connecting, the speed is superb. Called the CS, told me that my office is actually only PARTIALLY 3G COVERED (WTF) thus i was unable to connect. Asked me to used GPRS instead. After changing the setting for GPRS only, i did manage to connect, but not able to surf the net at all. .... Geeez... edit : Perfectly fine to connect from other places. Currently on Maxis 3G connecting from another location... This post has been edited by ed0gawa: Feb 22 2009, 06:28 PM |

QUOTE(ed0gawa @ Feb 22 2009, 06:28 PM) based on my stupid assumption, i'd say it's because many more people are migrating to Maxis 3G. this is what i tested. if i'm connecting after 9PM weekdays -- only GPRS, same error msg as you if i manage to come home from office earlier than 9PM -- walla! WCDMA .. but if i purposedly disconnect after 10pm and try to reconnect, same error msg i blame this to romram-whatever |
