QUOTE(yongkailoon @ Apr 5 2008, 10:12 PM) Don't worry you are not alone, many others are having lots of problem, even if they don't get frequent disconnections they are having speeds like a 56k dial up. lol yong, u use maxis wbb too? i thought only prasys well, im one of the earlier users of maxis wbb. i've seen their support going from best to good to bad to worse. i still remembered the days where i posted about my torrent speed 100kBps here using 384kbps package. and that makes prasys want to use maxis wbb too reminiscence of old days (back in march~september 2007): » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

i wonder, why people comparing maxis WBB with streamyx?
wired VS wireless?LOL. streamyx should be compared with maxis WIRED broadband, and not WIRELESS. maxis WBB vs Celcom WBB is a better comparison. |

maxis WBB got 18months contract right?
i'll be sure to terminate this service after 18months of usage. darn, i had enough of maxis already.even their postpaid line (which i am using) sucks that i always get dropped call, cannot be reached etc. |

i wonder, today i've been kicked back to UMTS almost everytime i reset the modem.connected got HSDPA, after awhile go back to UMTS.
does it have anything to do with heavy rain yesterday or because of the 3GB limit (i downloaded so many linux ISO) or maxis is just plain ignorant? |

QUOTE(blurr00 @ Dec 3 2008, 03:01 AM) umts: universal mobile telecommunication system aka 3Ghttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Mob...ications_System hsdpa: high speed downlink packet access aka 3.5G http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSDPA in short, 3G is 3rd generation handphone tech. UMTS is one of the 3G techs and there are other 3G techs like CDMA2000, FOMA (used in japan). the 3G we always talking about in malaysia is UMTS that uses W-CDMA air interface/protocol (whatever they said) HSDPA in other hand is a protocol designed to increase UMTS download/downlink speed. so, it'll be: UMTS (W-CDMA) aka 3G and UMTS (HSDPA) aka 3.5G correct me if i'm wrong. @stimix
seriously the speed is REALLY improving right now. day time i managed to get over 50~70kBps download, which is really improved from 20~30kBps last time. probably because of the pressure maxis gets from consumers? |

QUOTE(stimix @ Dec 23 2008, 11:06 PM) I was told that Maxis BB is not as stable & shared line compare to Maxis 3G tied to postpaid which is unlimited..Probably this the reason why so many conmplains on BB? Sorry mine is not BB it's 3G unlimited stimix, how much u paid every month for the internet2go?also, how much is the starting cost to own one? including deposit, modem etc. |

QUOTE(cracksys @ Dec 26 2008, 03:50 PM) Maxis postpaid + 3G phone. call them and ask for unlimited internet package (or internet2go, whichever) ah this reminds me why my fren got higher speed than my another fren although both paying around RM100+that's all. iianm he upgraded his maxis wbb package to internet2go. |

QUOTE(cracksys @ Dec 31 2008, 05:26 PM) no, i don't think you can upgrade WBB to 3G package as that unlimited Internet2Go is exclusive for Postpaid user only. i dunno bout that, but he said maxis upgraded his wbb package to internet2go.that's all.maybe there are some other charges, but i didn't ask him about it. |

QUOTE(sense75 @ Jan 9 2009, 08:15 PM) to me, yeah. 24/7 constant 110kBps. but it's capped at that speed only. my fren's 1mBps streamyx managed to get up to 160kBps, but during peak hours the connection deteriorates till 40~50kBps with higher latency than usual.QUOTE(cracksys @ Jan 9 2009, 10:18 PM) it IS two completely different thing. wired signal =================================== wireless signal --- tree - -- --- -- - dog --- -- -- - someone rooftop doesn't matter which ISP it is. QUOTE(heizad @ Jan 9 2009, 11:00 PM) of course diff world...one using visible connection n other one using invi connection well i was one of the early users during maxis propaganda of wbb (early 2007). the connection is awesome. i can play MMO that is hosted in the US (not WoW, cant remember what MMO). and bittorent download for my usual linux ISOs is always more than 100kBps, sometimes can reach up to 200kBps at night. |
