Personally I don't think TC matters that much. All the drivers (maybe with the exception of one tongue.gif) seem capable enough to drive without TC. I would be shocked if they weren't. So i don't see the status quo changing at Bahrain. Ferrari will have the upperhand there.

Massa undoubted can be fastest men in the track, grab pole without surprise...but the main issue was he always make mistake during race or Ferrari make strategy that allow kimi overtake him during pit... sweat.gif

Hekki's quite a skillful driver. We didn't see this much speed or defensive skills in last season and that's with TC. Now without TC also he can match Hamilton's speed in qualifying pretty well. Haven't seen much in race...mainly due to different fuel strategies. Just give a driver a competitive car and anything can happen tongue.gif

OMG doh.gif

This week RTM back to normal, not showing qualifiying and the RACE delay until 12.30am and there showing time only 1 hour 12.30 to 1.30am..

sure u can guess, there will be missing 10 to 20 lap in the middle...

hopeless RTM....

their road infrastructure is not that good, particularly in the remote areas. So they learn from little to drive in harsh terrain.

And thats why also great rally drivers comes from Finland.

i'm sure kimi is not from bmw junior program. iirc he's from Mercedes junior program, same as heidfeld. And massa is not too.

I think you mixed up with Sauber and BMW.

if i could recall, Kimi is from formula renault (scholarship).... then, he wont most of the races in that champioship and got spoted by peter sauber...

well my initial plan here is 2 upload each classic race per 2008 race starting from spanish GP onwards because i dont want 2 kill all the excitement 2 you all so fast unless this thread can hit 2500 very fast laugh.gif since 1999 season is short of 2 races from 2008, i must sacrifice one more GP b4 uploading the next classic race in the following GP tongue.gif so thats my plan 4 the year tongue.gif

80kph is close to 50mph. if am not mistaken.
and most supercars goes by mph instead of kph.

he must hurt his hand there. why the hell to put the hands at the side of cockpit when impact.BTW, i don't know why most F1 driver like to locked their wheels when they are spun....i think if he dun looked the wheel, his car still in good shape...coz the tyre will be gripped the road....

oh if u mean lock, then i think it's the only option the driver has 2 slow the car down, minimizing the risk of crashing into the tire wall

no point countering the steering like drifting cos the car is changing direction(spinning) 2 fast 2 b countered
unless the car has just starting to spin, like when michael had a left-rear puncture in brazil 2k6, he managed to counter the steering, preventing the car from spinning

He might have a lighter car then massa and hamilton

1st corner will be crucial as they dun have traction control and launch control and the track in Bahrain is very sand .....

but i think kubica can go ahead steadily as he had a lighter car

In my opinion it is possible but if everything is fine for both the Ferrari and McLaren then I can say we will be seeing podium for Ferrari and McLaren only. It could be different too if Kubica can outperform the two giants. smile.gif

Commentator did say that Ferrari reduced Kimi's horsepower to save the engine.
Massa...I think he's still using the old engine but he saved it a bit from Australia and Malaysia where he finished a 'little' earlier.

Hope Kimi can get his 1st pole for this year in Barcelona, 26 April.

Remember the last race at the Brazilian GP last year?!
Hamilton splitted the 2 Ferraris again.
Massa was on pole and Raikkonen was behind Hamilton.
The exact same thing that occur last year happen again yesterday laugh.gif

McLaren was so into finding fault at the fuel of the Williams and BMW(Petronas ftw!) in order to get Hamilton on top. Sad or glad to say, the appeal was rejected sweat.gif

Someone has been looking around for Max's kryptonite to a what seems to be for decades a bulletproof record. (although Max is famous with his ways around women back then when he was in the uni) Those couldnt do as much damage then as in now, when its has been quite long, the call for Mosley to step down.

Plus I think Mosley stepped on a wrong tail last season - Mercedez Benz - The Germans. And the McLarens - Brits......plus a certified halfwit - Jackie Steward. laugh.gif

cause in normal condition, it's impossible to catch a car like that.
Everyone here has watched F1 for quite a long time, we all know that overtaking is already very difficult, then how could lewis catch alonso so fast ???
considering all the facts without knowing the upper part of hamilton's wing had been missing, they (ITV commentators) do have their points, they're not entirely wrong neither.

don forget that F1 cars are so powerful they launch from 0 - 160kph in just 3 seconds. and the effects of downforce with or without it. think !

but i do agree with u guys that ITV commentators have been a little annoying nowadays, yes especially james allen. sleep.gif oh well they are brittish anyway....

I'm not quite sure but the upper part of the front wing is supposed to let the car stay sticking to the ground, without it the car will get itself a sudden rush of speed when they are in somebody's (Alonso's) slipstream. Thus Hamilton is not fast enough to react to the sudden speed and crashed into Alonso and lost his front wing.

Just my 2 cents ...

the car will struggle with understeer when cornering at high / mid speed corners. not aerodynamically balanced, unless the remove some wings at the rear of the car.

yes, less wings = faster at straights and slipstreams

guess he thought he'd twisted the wheel enuff to avoid it, turns out alonso's coming at him at a faster rate...BOOM!!!

i have to disagree with you. imho this happens to kimi when was about to lap (who was it... i forgot) at Hungary 06.

i think you have to look at alonso's car too. he was trying to block the advances of lewis by moving slightly to the right.The optimum racing line there take a bit of the right kerb on the right and be on the left side (to make a straight line as possible without losing speed). You can see the racing line taken by two taken car infront of alonso's car.

imo its a racing incident nothing more nothing less. i read in yesterday paper that lewis himself considered it as an accident, he didnt blame alonso for it.

I agree that just an race incident, I will use the word "mistake" for lewis. This is an RACING, you can't espect poeple open a big sspace to let u pass just because u are faster then others...

Sometime, I feel F1 will getting more and more boring becasue of those rule... should put "Signal" light on the F1 car. So, all the racer will know which way u going.. brows.gif

That is Racing.. Alonso did it for the right of Racing.... If Lewis cannot avoid that while Alonso in full torque, the one to blame is only Lewis himself...

finally back to civilization. laugh.gif missed the whole race at bahrain, was at terengganu in the middle of a kampung. when i saw BMW head the list in constructors, fuwaah, happy a bit. anyways, it was a pretty impressive end for bmw at bahrain.

My fave driver of all time is Senna. After him, I have a soft spot for Schumi and Ferrari but i dont have any reserve if they do anything that is not 'sporting'. Now I have no particular fave just enjoying the race.

Montoya is a good driver. but just like kimi, the mclaren's poor reliability back then stand in their way.

Williams are powered by BMW engine back then from 2000....

They were within seven minutes of going through to meet Chelsea when Liverpool were awarded a controversial penalty that gave them the game and sealed the tie. A week earlier in front of Arsenal's fans, an identical penalty shout had been turned down.

Thus Liverpool go through on a highly questionable decision - an instant reaction from a solitary official. No replays, no nothing.

Thank god F1 isn't like that.

We moan, splutter, shout and have an occasional rant about the stewards being asleep, not watching the race, all-wearing Ferrari shirts or all-wearing We Luv Lewis shirts, but in comparison to football judgement, they are Dr. Science. They are Stephen Hawking.

American Football is perhaps even more precise. With the television replays available to the referees it's extraordinarily rare that a really rank piece of judgement goes through. In the Superbowl, the New England coach threw out a challenge (they're allowed a certain amount of challenges in the game), they replayed the tape and found that the New York Giants had failed by about a second to get the twelfth man off the pitch before the ball was snapped. Incredible precision.

Later in the game they used video footage to check that a wide receiver had his feet in the field of play while his hands and the ball were somewhere over by the Gatorade bins. Compare that to football which won't even install goal-line cameras to check whether the ball has crossed the line...

Despite many protests, stretching back all the way to the 1966 World Cup Final, when England scored a dodgy goal against Germany (God bless the Polish linesman) FIFA pensioner Sepp Blatter has argued against them. Here is an example (in my opinion) of a sports administrator who really would do everyone a favour by being caught in a London dungeon with five hookers and the script from 'Allo 'Allo.

The NFL's judgement supremacy comes at a price, though, and the game is disrupted while all the calls are made. However in a sport where even the advertisers can call a time-out, nobody is that much fussed. In F1, all the judgements can be made while the race is going on, whether by the race director Charlie Whiting, or the stewards posting up things they're going to look at after the race.

Last season Charlie Whiting had a blinder, putting out Safety Cars when they were needed, and making some brilliant judgement calls to get through the Japanese Grand Prix. He even saved Kimi Raikkonen's World Championship. Without the quiet message from Whiting to Ferrari boss Jean Todt (after Ferrari failed to check their e.mail) to get both Raikkonen and Massa in to change tyres from inters to full wets at the start of the race, he would have had to black flag them.

This season it was surprising that he red-flagged Qualifying after the Takuma Sato accident in Bahrain, but the only other bone of contention has come from the stewards and the brief they have to investigate 'avoidable accidents'. When is avoidable, avoidable?

In Bahrain, they only had two big accidents to look at and they passed on both of those.

Drivers with the experience of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso should avoid hitting each other accelerating away from a corner. When you're diving into a braking zone you have so little control of a car - not so going out the other side. What we would have liked them to do is investigate the Lewis vs Fernando impact and give us the verdict, just so we know.

Does the McLaren have after-burners fitted (that somehow Lewis couldn't deploy when he was behind the Force-India). Has the Renault got a flat-spot in its acceleration curve? What part did Alonso's little sideways jink play? It was reminiscent of his sideway shimmy at the start of the Belgian GP in Spa. If his acceleration was flat, did he dab the brakes with his left foot?

These could be so easily cleared up by the stewards doing something, even if the results showed nothing at all.

Compared to football, though, we're not complaining. ITV are surrendering the F1 coverage because they need more money to pay for their continued coverage of the European Champion's League. Judging by some of the games we've had to endure this season and the quality of the refereeing they might as well have spent it on the National Lottery.
