HISTORY OF McLAREN McLAREN IN FORMULA 1 The McLaren Formula One team is rich in heritage, having been formed in 1963 by New Zealander Bruce McLaren. Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Limited as it was then known set to work on building a Formula One car, and three years later the team made its debut at the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix. The team scored their first race win in 1968, when Bruce McLaren piloted a McLaren-Ford to victory. Tragically though the New Zealander lost his life at a Can Am testing accident at the Goodwood Circuit in 1970, but the team continued his legacy, winning races in Formula One and expanding into Indy and Can-Am Racing. In 1974 the team celebrated its first Formula One Drivers' and Constructors' Championship win, with Emerson Fittipaldi in the McLaren-Ford M23. The next Drivers' Championship came courtesy of English driver James Hunt, behind the wheel of the McLaren-Ford M23 in 1976. To date the team has achieved the highest number of double race wins of any pair of Formula 1 drivers with team-mates Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost notching up 14 wins between them in the 1988 / 89 season. The Senna / Prost partnership also holds the accolade for the most grands prix wins in a season. In 1988 the pair won 15 out of the 16 races on the calendar. The team has won four consecutive Drivers' and Constructors' Championships (1988-1991) and secured eight Constructors' World Championship titles, the first of which was in 1974. Today the team now has a record 11 Drivers' World Championship titles and eight Constructor's World Championships. FORMULA 1 STATISTICS * Number of races - 648 * Grand Prix victories - 162 * Formula 1 Drivers' World Championships - 12 * Formula 1 Constructors' World Championships - 8 * Pole Positions - 141 * Podiums - 431 * Double Wins (1-2s) - 44 * Fastest Laps - 136 * (correct after 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix) ![]() 8 Formula One Constructor's World Championships ![]() This post has been edited by unknown: Jan 27 2009, 06:10 PM |

McLaren duo punished for impeding
QUOTE McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen have been penalised five grid places for impeding rivals during qualifying at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The pair had been on the second row but Hamilton will now start in ninth, one place behind his Finnish team-mate. After qualifying they were summoned by the stewards to answer complaints they held others up in the last session. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport...one/7309337.stm |

QUOTE(evoHahn @ Mar 23 2008, 04:41 PM) cause I realise that mclaren with microsoft are making the standard ecu for all carthen if there is problems..there bound to be this kind of accusations just stating it earlier Added on March 23, 2008, 4:46 pmeven that they could utter it out that mc pencuri is still benifiting from spygate info as i quote earlier.. QUOTE(alien2003 @ Mar 23 2008, 04:41 PM) He was delay for bout 10s, how many seconds was Heikki behind Kubica at the end?Hamilton could well be fighting for 2nd place if it was a clear pit stop. That's if only but still a great drive from both the drivers.Afterall, not so bad of a result, the best we could have got is a 3-4(behind the Ferraris) but Massa out is consider as a bonus in term of constructor championship for McLaren. |

I thought Hamilton would be overtaking Trulli. Sad to see it after hard fight spoiled by the pit stop. Couldnt blame anyone tho, his driving style was kinda aggressive but that's what exciting.

QUOTE(sheahann @ Mar 23 2008, 05:11 PM) heiki is better than hamilton this time .. hamilton no face edi . later will fight with teammate like that hamilton and alonso did No la I dont think so, how could you judge by only 2 races, furthermore the first one won by Hamilton, and now Hamilton still on top of drivers championship. Hamilton will fight on his way and same goes to Heiki too. I dont see the reason why Hamilton should be ashamed of this race, afterall he started from the 9th grid. Kudos to both drivers |

SO THE KIDDO IS A WINNING TEAM JOINER LAH..
WHO EVER WIN WILL GO THERE LAA...LIKE A LALLANG? what ever it is it is not ron who assemble the team to get the data it is supplied by ferrari own worker (talk about loyalty yet Ron admit that what they done following the revelation is not less wrong at least he admit to it that indeed they come across the data, but open to inspection and they(The FIA) say will sanction the team if the they found to have elements of ferrari influence in their design guess what.. 2008 comes, Aus GP gone.. now Mas GP also finish and the car/team are still here and that is what i decipher from evohahn "cryptic" message cause i know it is a bit over you head to understand |

The numbers doesn't determine anything....is the end result that determines everything....
So who cares if you get last number out of the whole list but your car has the potential to grab 1st position? |

It looked like Alonso brake tested him but Lewis should have been more careful there. We are really lacking in pace. Even the BMW's are beating us fair and square. I'm hoping it's just because of this track's characteristics.

good to see lewis on podium today, but we are not that close to challenge the Ferrari. This circuit is hard to overtake; nick had to wait a few laps before he pass fisico |

hm i was wondering wit 3 stops, the car is lighter and faster
y they still prefer 2 stop? 3 stops got mroe benefit rite, lighter, no need to take care so much on tyres, if got safety car it wont affect too much on the strategy. |

Was it Heidfeld that kena in Barcelona?y they still prefer 2 stop? 3 stops got mroe benefit rite, lighter, no need to take care so much on tyres, if got safety car it wont affect too much on the strategy. you stop 3 times means there's another 33% more of it will happen lo This post has been edited by bearbear: May 13 2008, 02:56 AM |

Like at Magny Cours (short pit lane) - it is possible to win on 3 pit stops, Schumi did it with 4 pit stops. Like At Barca (Long pit lane) - teams tend to do single or two stops.y they still prefer 2 stop? 3 stops got mroe benefit rite, lighter, no need to take care so much on tyres, if got safety car it wont affect too much on the strategy. Another factor is the nature of the track; if the track is difficult for cars to overtake like in Monaco - so single stopping is ideal. and lastly traffic on track - this one is not a big factor. Mostly teams has a preset fuel level so that they can switch from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 pit stop acording to the traffic on track This post has been edited by evoHahn: May 13 2008, 10:19 AM |

for the 1st time since Kimi left McLaren, i start to hate him after the accident. Although its juz an accident but he caused Sutil opportunity...
Eventhough Lewis won, i think the team made a wrong mistake for Heikki for not order him unlapped himself, otherwise he would be on P7 or P6. |

Well before the weekend i was thinking that we had to win this one to have a chance of beating Ferrari to the title. Wasn't looking so good after Saturday but what a drive from Hamilton. This track has always favoured us but i wish Heikki could have finished higher.

Monaco Grand Prix De-Brief - Martin Whitmarsh
QUOTE Lewis secured Vodafone McLaren Mercedes second consecutive victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, Formula 1s most prestigious race, but the rain made things a touch less straightforward for the team this time "Absolutely. Saturday was a slightly flat day for us, because we thought wed put enough fuel in the car to get pole position, but it wasnt to be. That was tough, but we knew we had two good drivers and a reasonably quick car. We were hopeful, but we knew it would be a difficult race. We just didnt realise quite how difficult." Lewis made an unscheduled pit stop on lap six, after glancing the barriers at Tabac. Did you really believe the race was still winnable from there? "Definitely. He had made a great start and the incident, unfortunate though it was, only dropped him from second to fifth. We could see how quickly he was lapping in the damp conditions and we knew how much fuel we had just put in the car. We felt wed be in a strong position at the end of the race - and there was always the possibility of a Safety Car period or two, to mix things up." How pleased were you with the teams response to that early setback? "I believe we dealt with the situation very well. We put in a reasonably heavy fuel load, but despite the weight penalty Lewis maintained a really quick pace - a vital factor at that stage of the race. He did a terrific job. Conditions were exceptionally difficult but he didnt commit any other errors and the team made the right calls at the right time. Were delighted with the outcome." Did the accident do you a favour, in a strange sort of way, in that the evolving conditions actually suited the strategy you adopted? "We were dealt a card and I think we played it well. We were put in a particular situation and managed to make it work to our advantage." Had the race run conventionally, in dry conditions with no interruptions, when would you have brought Lewis in for his first stop? "We dont want to show our hand, but we were confident wed have the pace to get him ahead of Ferrari at the first stop. It would have been difficult, but it became hypothetical because circumstances eventually dictated that this wouldnt be an ordinary race." Lewis still had plenty of fuel on board when he made his second stop on lap 54. Why did you bring him in early? "We were slightly anxious because we wanted to cover him against the potential risk of a Safety Car. People were starting to switch to dries and conditions were still very slippery, so the chances of an accident were quite high, but it was clear that dry tyres were the way to go. Thats why we called him in when we did and it was the right thing to do." The second Safety Car period lasted several laps, which must have caused tyre temperatures to drop significantly, yet Lewis set a personal best on his first flying lap after the restart. That was quite impressive. "It was. Both Lewis and Heikki have plenty of experience, from karting upwards, and are used to dealing with fluctuating conditions. I also think Lewis is particularly good at dealing with Safety Car restarts. He did a great job." Lewiss victory will doubtless dominate the headlines, but Heikki Kovalainen coped well once again with adversity. "He did, yes. Just before the start he lost control of his clutch - it was probably a software glitch with the monitor that was plugged into the car, but we need to investigate that. We changed the steering wheel, reset the system and got him going, but Heikki was very unlucky because he subsequently spent much of his race in traffic. On a clear road, though, he showed how quick he can be around here." What happened during the second Safety Car period? He seemed to lose out there, too. "He was one lap down, behind Adrian Sutil, and we asked the FIA whether he was allowed to pass Adrian and make up the lost lap, as the rules permit. He was eventually cleared to pass, but the race then restarted while he was still in no mans land. He carried on pushing, though, and scored a valuable point, so despite everything he did a fantastic job." He was particularly quick at the end and set the second fastest lap of the race. "Thats all the more commendable because its not always easy to maintain your focus and motivation if you are just scrapping for the odd point. His attitude was fantastic." We are one third of the way through the 2008 season and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has scored two wins to Ferraris four. How do you assess the state of play? "It looks as though the title will probably be a race between Ferrari and ourselves, although I still wouldnt discount BMW and others. Well just carry on trying to improve the car between now and the end of the year. If we can progress at a better rate than Ferrari well win the championship, and vice versa. Aside from the events every fortnight theres a race between races to develop the car." You recently did some preparatory testing for the next race, in Canada. How did that go? "We ran for one day at Le Castellet in France, and it was a productive exercise. Braking and straight-line speeds are critical factors in Canada and weve been focusing on those areas. This year our car has excelled in sweeping, high-speed corners: Montreal hasnt got any of those, but we have done very well there before and Im confident well be very strong again." |

this thread is quite quite compared to last season. anyway, hopefully lewis can capitalize on the next gp which is said to favour mclaren. If lewis can win most of the middle year gp's then theres a good chance he can win the driver's championship.

anyway, this obviously serious mistake in racing. i admit last race kimi got fault but the situation is different. that time is that he go brake it but just the tyre get lock and cant do anything for that. so it still can forgive. but the problem now is that this is in pit lane, and it should only at a spd linit but seen he dun has concentrate on the race that y he got his responsibility that this totally his fault. at last he also no mood at all after that, we should not blame him liao just let fia penalty for 1 race then enough punishment for him edi. |

In all fairness
it WAS KIMI's Fault!!!!!! jeng-jeng-jeng his pit let him out while kubica is powering down the pitlane if a bit slower then he will slot in behind kubica but because like in monaco the pit crew is n00b again they cant "be" anymore faster and they forces kimi to go out this invertly make kimi block the left side if you see hami didnt plow straight to he avoided the true pitlane line tha kubica is staying with kimi not there the accident could have been avoided so it is still KIMIS WRONG DOING that CAUSE the accident!!!! hahahahahaha |

I think Hamilton must turn to left side to avoid kubica and kimi. Otherwise he would had block the whole pitlane and most probably both kubica n kimi will be out of the race too.
Ya unfortunately Kimi was at the left side too... so i would its hamilton + FIA mistake. btw, i have a feeling heikki will leave mclaren nx yr. He is on 2 stop strategy but very slow compare to Hamilton, BMW and alonso. |

Defiant Hamilton vows to fight on
QUOTE Lewis Hamilton said his title challenge was still on track after a second consecutive run-in with race officials left him out of the points in France. The McLaren driver is 10 points behind leader Felipe Massa after finishing 10th on Sunday following a drive-through penalty for illegal overtaking. "There's nothing you can do that can distract me," Hamilton said. "You can keep on giving me penalties, whatever you want. I'll keep battling, and trying to come back with a result." Hamilton was penalised because he was deemed to have cut a chicane when he passed Toro Rosso's Sebastian Vettel on the first lap of the race. The rules dictate that a driver is not allowed to gain an advantage by going off the track. It was the second consecutive race in which the 23-year-old had fallen foul of the race stewards - he started the French race with a 10-place grid penalty for crashing into Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in Canada two weeks ago. Hamilton has been upset by some of the newspaper coverage of the incident in Montreal, and made his frustration clear following the race in France on Sunday. I have absolutely no doubts. I don't care how far I am behind, I'll come back Lewis Hamilton "I absolutely 100% aim on bouncing back [at Silverstone]," he said. "Regardless of what's written in the papers tomorrow, I'm going to go back to the workshop and push with the team and we're going to focus on the next race and we're going to hit 'em hard." Asked by BBC 5 Live's pit lane reporter Holly Samos if he felt angry, Hamilton said: "I feel cool. It's all good. Racing's racing. I'm still here. There's nothing you can do to get me out of here. "I'm going to keep battling. There's a long way to go. I have absolutely no doubts. I don't care how far I am behind. "Kimi was 17 points behind with two races to go last year and he still won. Twenty points behind. I don't care. I'll still come back." Hamilton made it clear he felt he should not have been penalised in Sunday's race. "I thought I overtook reasonably fairly into turn seven," he said. "Going in I was ahead but I lost the back end and corrected it and went over the kerb, which I don't particularly see as cheating or anything like that but those are the rules. "I don't think I did anything. I believe I was ahead on the outside. "I couldn't turn in on the guy, or we would have crashed, so I took the outside line, lost the back on the marbles and went over the kerb and continued. "I don't believe I overtook him by going over the kerb, I overtook him before that. "I did everything I needed to do. I stayed out of trouble and drove what I thought was a fair race. We just missed the points. "That's three races now without scoring points but there's 10 races to go." Hamilton was backed by McLaren boss Ron Dennis. "I don't think he gained a position by being off the road," said Dennis. "It is our opinion he was past before he got squeezed off the circuit. No position was gained. There's nothing to be gained from saying anything else." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport...one/7468133.stm |

QUOTE(cristiano7mu @ Jun 24 2008, 09:21 PM) out of 100000 lyn member only less than 15 members post here. i told you before, give heikki some time to show his potential Haha anyway i will take back my words on Kov at General F1 thread at least until after british GP. lol surprise to see him fight all the way from 11 to 4 bcoz of pit strategy. before his 2nd stop i tot he will be either behind or infront of alonso. wonder IF hamilton didnt get the penalty will he overtake or get close to kimi? During qualifying, he was carrying a lot of fuel. imagine what would happened if he didnt received the penalty? he might finished on the podium |

Good job Heikki, he has being unlucky most of the time and now he show us his potential
I guess Ham was disturbed by that overrun 1st attempt, lock up his wheels when he's in the corner |

Yes, Congrats Heikki for first pole, and Hamilton push the car to hard and he look so disappointed.

Too bad Ferrari made a bad call on Kimi... otherwise should be fun to watch between him and Hamilton. Great call by McLaren and even greater drive from Hamilton. He truly deserved a day like today when he's performing at this level.

Lewis’s Lowdown: Victory at the 2008 Santander British Grand Prix
QUOTE Monday, 07 July 2008 How confident were you ahead of the start of the race? ”I've got to admit, I was nervous! In front of my home crowd, I didn't want to mess this up for everyone. Even on my lap-to-grid, the track felt greasy and slippery in places and the car was starting to aquaplane. But at times like that, you've got to relax and once the race started I was quickly into a rhythm and everything seemed to come to me. I know you can never start feeling too confident because it can affect your concentration but I think I found the perfect balance out on the track on Sunday.” Were there some big celebrations back at the team’s brand centre in the paddock afterwards? ”We got a bit of a party vibe going on there after the race! When I finished with the TV crews I walked back into the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Brand Centre and just found it packed with partners, team members and members of my family. Everybody started cheering and I felt a bit overwhelmed. My physio was so happy he took over the music system and put some tunes on to turn the place into a club! Notorious B.I.G, Ini Kamoze, Kanye West, party hip hop basically - a real mixture of old and new stuff - and that got everybody going! Everybody started dancing and I could finally start to relax with my family. You need a bit of time on your own after a performance like that just to get yourself back on the ground but it was great to have my family, friends and colleagues all joining in the celebration.” I believe the entire team got together afterwards to do a team photo as well? ”Monza 2007 was our last team photo when Fernando and I finished one-two. Although this wasn’t a one-two it was very much another special result for the team after a couple of difficult races so it was a good sign of solidarity for everybody. The team has been working so hard recently and this result was as much for them as it was for me.” Silverstone had organised a Grand Prix party for the fans after the race and you made an appearance on the stage? ”It was crazy! I got a shuttle from the paddock, and before I could even get in it I was mobbed by fans. I always try and sign as many autographs and pose for as many pictures as I can - because I never like to leave people disappointed but sometimes it is just impossible, I’m sorry. I know you can always do more, but I really hope people understand that I give as much as I can to the fans and couldn't do what I do without their support. Once we got to the venue, I bumped into Sir Jackie Stewart and Jenson Button and then went on stage with my brother Nic. That was the biggest roar I've ever heard - it left me speechless for a while. That sort of thing just gives me such a buzz and makes days like this feel even more valuable and worthwhile. It was an awesome feeling to see the sea of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Rocket Red caps and flags being waved and to hear their cheering and chanting.” How important is the support of your family and in particular your relationship with your younger brother Nic? ”I was in my room preparing for the start and Nic came in to see me. I told him I was worrying about the race and whether I would be able to get through it without making a mistake. He told me not to worry; he told me I was a great wet-weather driver and reminded me of a Cadet kart race I did years ago where I lapped every single one of the karts twice! That made me feel a whole load better and gave me some much needed additional self confidence to go out there and drive as strongly as I did.” Your drive has been hailed as one of the all-time wet-weather greats - how does that make you feel? ”It's awesome, but I also feel humbled, to be honest. To be included up there with greats such as Stewart and Senna – not that I would claim that myself of course - is one of the reasons why I've pushed so hard throughout my motorsport career. But it hasn't really sunk in yet: sometimes you need a night and a day before you really start to feel the impact of all you've achieved. And you can't really rate one drive against others; people told me it reminded them of Ayrton at Donington in 1993 but I couldn't really say – what an unbelievable comparison though. All I know is that, like Ayrton, I've worked hard my entire racing career to be the best and a result like Sunday's is the reason for all of that.” What's next for Lewis Hamilton? ”Nothing ever slows down in my life! There's no time to reflect on Silverstone just yet as I'm flying to Germany on Monday and will be in the car testing at Hockenheim on Tuesday and Wednesday. Maybe there will be a bit of time to relax later in the summer and take a holiday - but not yet...” |

An important home race for Mercedes
QUOTE After Silverstone, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team begins preparations for its second ‘home’ race; next week’s German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. Another historic event, the German Grand Prix has previously been held on four circuits – two iterations of the Nurburgring. (22 races for the Nordschleife, one for the new circuit, in 1985), Hockenheim (30 races) and a singular event, in 1959, at Berlin’s Avus circuit. This year will mark the 55th running of the German Grand Prix. While the Hockenheim circuit was not introduced onto the Formula One calendar until 1970, it first existed in recognisable form way back in 1938 and gained its familiar concrete stadium section in 1966. It existed largely unchanged until 2002, when it was dramatically shortened from its mighty 6.8km incarnation to 4.6km by Formula One architect Hermann Tilke. McLaren has won six times, including a victory for McLaren-Mercedes with Mika Hakkinen in 1998. As a manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz first triumphed in Germany back in 1954, when Juan Manuel Fangio won at the old Nurburgring in a W196. Since last year, organisers elected to alternate the German round of the world championship between the Nurburgring (organised by ADAC in odd-numbered years) and Hockenheim (organised by AvD in even-numbered years). Due to a disagreement over naming rights, this is the first German Grand Prix to take place since 2006; last year’s Nurburgring race was called the European Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton - Does your win at Silverstone take some of the pressure off your shoulders? “Pressure always exists because you need to win consistently. In Formula One, you’re only as good as your last race and Silverstone already felt like an old memory by the time I was testing at Hockenheim on Tuesday. Generally, however, a race win briefly takes the load off everyone’s shoulders because it allows you to push forward without looking back at the problems you may have faced in the previous race. But you can never get complacent and we’ll be pushing hard again in Germany next week.” This is your first time at Hockenheim in a Formula One car, what are your initial impressions? “I was at Hockenheim in 2005 when I won a Formula 3 EuroSeries race and in 2006 with GP2 when I finished second and third. It’s actually quite a straightforward circuit to get into, and it helps that our car just feels so awesome at the moment. There’s a bit of everything around here and it’s quite fun to throw the car into some of the high-speed corners, like Turn One and Turn 12 – the high-speed right-hander into the stadium section.” You are going to the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Farnborough Air Show ahead of the Santander German Grand Prix – how do events like these affect your preparations? “I’m going to Goodwood on Sunday – it’s an event I love because, unlike a Grand Prix, it lets you get closer to the fans, and I always get a real boost from their enthusiasm and positivity. It’s also a place where you can meet other racing drivers in a really relaxed atmosphere – that’s not something you experience during a race weekend either. On the Monday I’m going to Farnborough, which should also be pretty cool. But I’m still doing less than I was before Silverstone and I’ll have several days to relax before Hockenheim.” Will there be any special promotion activities with Mercedes-Benz for the fans? “It will be great to be at Hockenheim where I will compete in my first German Grand Prix. I’m looking forward to the support of the Germans and especially the Mercedes fans. I know that many of them will be on the Mercedes grandstand from where they have a great view and there will also be a fantastic entertainment programme behind the grandstand. I will be on stage during the weekend and answer questions about my practice and qualifying. It is always nice to get close to the fans as it gives me additional motivation.” Heikki Kovalainen - At the start of the season, you talked about needing time to settle in – after your impressive qualifying performance at Silverstone, do you now feel more at ease with the car and team than before? “In some ways, yes. For sure, in the dry at Silverstone I couldn’t believe how good the car felt and just how much I could keep pushing it. It felt better than ever. But the race showed I can still do more to improve – both in terms of my driving style and the way the team works with me. I know I have the speed, I just need to work harder to apply it across the whole race weekend.” Does the track suit the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes technical package? “Our car’s real strengths are in high-speed corners and under braking. Hockenheim is more of a technical, medium-speed circuit so I wouldn’t expect us to have any particular advantage – but the car does feel very good here. It has a similar downforce level to Magny-Cours, where we weren’t really able to show our true potential, so it will be interesting to see where we sit in comparison to our rivals.” The team tried a new dorsal fin engine cover during the test – did it make a difference? “The new top body engine cover has been designed to improve aero performance, particularly through high-speed corners – and we feel it had an advantage during the Hockenheim test. But it’s still too early to say; maybe Hockenheim is not the best place to try this new wing and we need to see if it is affected by crosswinds – it was quite windy at the Hockenheim test, but we didn’t seem to be too affected by the wind. It’s definitely encouraging for the future.” |

Hamilton delighted with Hockenheim pole
QUOTE A pole every three races for Lewis Hamilton McLaren Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton will start Sunday's German Grand Prix, the team's second consecutive home Grand Prix, from pole position after Silverstone two weeks ago. It is also the team’s second pole position in a row and the fourth this year. In the closing seconds of the final session, Hamilton set a time of 1:15.666s and claimed his ninth pole position in his 27th F1 start. It is the 58th for the McLaren Mercedes partnership and McLaren’s 137th. Silverstone pole-sitter Heikki Kovalainen qualified third fastest with a 1:16.143s and will start from the second row, right behind his team-mate. Lewis Hamilton "What a lap! My first run during Q3 wasn’t bad, but my final lap was very smooth and I expected to set an even better time. The wind made today's conditions quite tricky and sometimes it was difficult to stay on the racing line, particularly in the stadium section – where the wind seemed to change a couple of times. The team did a really good job to adjust to these conditions and to prepare the car perfectly. We’ve been fast and consistent all weekend, we have good pace, and I’m confident for tomorrow." Heikki Kovalainen "In the final session my car felt the best it has all weekend. But on my first run I lost the rear-end entering the stadium section and ran wide. And on my final run I did a little bit of rally-crossing at the last corner. Taking that into account, it was a good lap. " Ron Dennis "Today we saw another excellent team performance by all at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Clearly, we're delighted for Lewis, who drove a great lap to take pole position in what I'm sure most people will agree was a gripping end to today's qualifying session. But we're equally pleased with Heikki, who recovered very impressively after his 'off' earlier in the session. He pushed hard, kept his head and carved a fast but disciplined lap that placed him third on tomorrow's grid. As regards tomorrow, we believe we have a competitive strategy and are therefore looking forward to putting in a strong performance in what is the second successive home Grand Prix for our team." Norbert Haug "That was a thrilling qualifying and Lewis made things clear at the last possible moment. A great lap which led him to the best position to start our second home Grand Prix after Silverstone. Heikki was on pole a fortnight ago, now it’s Lewis's turn. With Heikki in third place on the clean side of the track, we are in a good position for tomorrow’s race – but we certainly are not underestimating our competitors." |

It is funny you know when the team talk to Lewis after he crosses the line apologizing to him about the strategy and gave him a much tougher race.
But they did tried to cheer him up by saying that they hope that he was comfortable and happy driving a good car. Well it indeed is a terrific car accompanied by a good driver. |

QUOTE(cristiano7mu @ Jul 20 2008, 09:48 PM) he is consistently fast b4 the SC. yeah, they should have the same car setups its nice to see how he squeeze massa and piquet off the track. lol but still wondering why Kov cant meet Hamilton pace. QUOTE(bearbear @ Jul 20 2008, 09:49 PM) Yes, similar but Massa try to fight back which makes it so much love-able and Massa just forced Hamilton to use the finishing move to get rid of Massa, by forcing Massa off the track But ya, the most economic drive goes to Renault. What a suprise that they just made one stop |

McLaren hold hands up to strategy error
QUOTE McLaren boss Ron Dennis on Sunday admitted team strategists made a mistake that could have cost Lewis Hamilton victory at Hockenheim. While much of the field pitted under the safety car following Timo Glock's violent crash in the middle of the race, leader Hamilton was told to stay on the track. With a pitstop still to make when the safety car pulled off, Hamilton was told over the radio he had to build a 23-second gap to retain his lead - in just seven laps. "I just kept pushing - over the limit, pushing and pushing - but I couldn't find the gap," Hamilton, who established a four point advantage in the drivers' championship with his dominant performance in Germany, told reporters. After the pitstop, the Briton was let past by his team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, and then overtook Ferrari's Felipe Massa and surprise leader Nelson Piquet's Renault. But when he was behind the safety car, Hamilton admits he questioned McLaren's strategists over the radio. "I said are you sure about this, and they said fine. But we all have decisions and opinions and we'll learn from this one and move on," he said. Dennis, McLaren Principal, told British broadcaster ITV the team got the call wrong. "We expected the safety car to come in early. We thought the race could have started three laps earlier. You can't get it right all the time," he said. Source: GMM © CAPSIS International |

wow, lots of ferrari fan are questioning bout heikki letting lewis pass him, but for years Schumi did it with countless team mate. Yeah its not pretty, but i think there's a clause in heikki's contract when he signed for Mclaren.
massa did the same thing when he passed kimi at Magny Cours. |

QUOTE LEWIS HAMILTON “I nailed it this afternoon: when the team told me I had to build a 23-second gap in just seven laps, I knew I had to drive over the limit – and I did. But I knew we had the best car this weekend and felt comfortable pushing hard to make up the gap. In the final stint, I had to work for today’s win – when the Safety Car came out, I questioned whether I should pit but I trusted the team to make the best decision on strategy. It didn’t quite work out – but I knew we had the pace in the car to keep pushing and want to say a big thank-you to Heikki, who realised I was quicker. I was able to slipstream past Felipe and then thought my work was done; then I had to do it all again to get past Nelson. But I made a couple of textbook moves to get past them both. Everybody in this team has worked so hard to make this victory happen. We mustn’t grow complacent but must feel assured that our efforts are being rewarded. We couldn’t have asked for more today.” HEIKKI KOVALAINEN "A very difficult race for me. I had a good start and almost managed to pass Felipe but, unfortunately, my speed was not good enough, and I couldn’t make the tyres work to their best. The Safety Car period didn’t help me either, and I lost positions during my pitstop. Then I lost time behind Kubica. However, I managed to overtake him again two laps later and, from then on, it was a rather uneventful race. Fifth position was not what I had hoped to achieve here, but I am now looking forward to the Hungarian Grand Prix, where I will try my hardest to fight for a podium finish." RON DENNIS "Today's victory topped-off another magnificent weekend for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team. I stress the word 'team' because our win was very much a team effort. The deployment of the Safety Car presented us with a difficult decision: should we or should we not bring Lewis in for a pitstop? We decided that, since he still had quite a lot of fuel on board, we would leave him out until lap 50. We'd expected the track to be cleared of debris a little faster than it was, which would have allowed the Safety Car to come in a bit earlier. As a result, Lewis was unable to rejoin the race in the lead. He responded majestically, however, and scored another fabulous win. Heikki was troubled by oversteer in his first stint, which we attempted to correct at his first pit stop, but he still struggled a little in his next stint. That being the case, he wasn't able to match Lewis's pace today. But it's the mark of both his professionalism and his sportsmanship that, aware of his situation relative to Lewis's, he made it relatively straightforward for Lewis to pass him. As I've said before, Heikki's time will come. In difficult circumstances he raced tremendously well today – his overtaking manoeuvre on Robert Kubica was just sensational – and once again he showed a winner's grit and determination. It's a joy to have two drivers who are not only super-competitive but also super-cooperative." NORBERT HAUG "A sensational victory for Lewis with some great overtaking – he was in a class of his own in the team’s second consecutive home Grand Prix. His speed was better than I had ever dreamed of. After we let him continue during the Safety Car period we saw two of the most exciting overtaking manoeuvres of the championship. I am really happy about this convincing win – thank-you Lewis. I also want to thank everybody in the team for doing a great job; not only in the garage but also to everybody on the marketing, press and organisational side. Finally, I want to thank all our friends and guests who enjoyed a fantastic day at the Mercedes grandstand where they all saw a lot of action and enjoyed the great atmosphere." |

well...
the notion that massa was let pass by kimi just because imi have a big hole on the side is same as anything happened afterwards heck, heiki could have to concentrate when ron tell him to race lewis for the place that he might over cook the hairpin..as you see properly lewis was following heiki closely when he seems like heiki had overcook the corner if to be coordinated lewis would be ready to pounced instead of sort off following heiki to Holland right now... that's a story you cant refute as with the stories of team order the way i see it team orders is a norm in these kind of sports but due to certain team that blantantly "show off" their supperiority sort of like spitting in the face of the governing bodies that made the FIA to rule team order as illegal but to where the line stands team orders are legal just because of a hole on the side then the driver might as well retires if he could stop others from going through the theres no problem stopping your teammates to have an easy pass whatever makes you sleeps at night I guess Added on July 21, 2008, 2:00 ammy rant is for anyone that affixes to the team order issues and on that issue alone not considering other possibilities no one in particular was aimed for my replies This post has been edited by mcchin: Jul 21 2008, 02:00 AM |

what happen today is like what barrichello and schumi years ago, teamorders are always here but done in a different way the fuss today is how the teamorder is done, heikki didnt overcook at the hairpin but he just move wider halfway while hamilton following closeby and clearly heikki will still ahead even after the chicane but suddenly heikki just didnt turn his steering goes wide and let him through jasonist, dun say laa the FIA word..FIA is not to examine how the races are..what they did is always find way to fine teams for money and scripting the championship so it look exciting and exciting = moar moooney anyway im not here to kacau..may peace be upon those who dun agree with me |

I dont think there'll be a fuss when massa let kimi pass him, why question bout heikki and lewis ? Exactly. To those who thinks that team orders are not gonna happen in F1 is just plain naive. They may not do it straight forward as in communicating through radio communication to order a driver to let the other pass but there's definitely a way to do it which will not have breached the FIA rules. The team order rule itself has many loopholes.I know its dissapointing, but F1 is a team sport. The team provide you with the car and driver just race in it. You said team orders do happen in F1 and it's normal in racing and then question about Heikki purposely letting Lewis pass. How is it that this particular case is worst than the Rubens and Schumi back then. Back then, it was Rubens who let Schumi pass to take the chequered flag. Bear in mind after Heikki let Lewis pass him, he still has to work his a** off to overtake 2 drivers in front of him.what happen today is like what barrichello and schumi years ago, teamorders are always here but done in a different way the fuss today is how the teamorder is done, heikki didnt overcook at the hairpin but he just move wider halfway while hamilton following closeby and clearly heikki will still ahead even after the chicane but suddenly heikki just didnt turn his steering goes wide and let him through jasonist, dun say laa the FIA word..FIA is not to examine how the races are..what they did is always find way to fine teams for money and scripting the championship so it look exciting and exciting = moar moooney anyway im not here to kacau..may peace be upon those who dun agree with me This post has been edited by eksk86: Jul 21 2008, 11:53 AM |

team order is team order but u should think deeply
years ago when barrichello allowed schumacher to pass is b4 finish line but this time still a few laps 2 go there is no point for holding ur team mate while he is driving tremendously faster than u... winning is crucial |

McLaren denies team orders at Hockenheim
QUOTE McLaren boss Ron Dennis rejected any suggestion Heikki Kovalainen was the victim of team orders during Sunday's German Grand Prix. As Hockenheim winner and championship leader Lewis Hamilton made his way back to the front following the mid-race safety car, his Finnish team-mate Kovalainen - now a full 30 points behind in the drivers' standings - seemed to pull aside and let his British colleague past. Hamilton and Dennis thanked the 26-year-old for his cooperation, but some sections of the German crowd registered their displeasure by whistling - resurrecting memories of Austria in 2002, when Ferrari's Jean Todt famously required Rubens Barrichello to 'let Michael Schumacher pass for the championship.' Dennis denied Kovalainen was ordered to cede, which would be a breach of the post-2002 rules. "The only thing we do is advise our drivers of the respective pace of the other driver," he said. "They ultimately call it. "Lewis was nearly one second quicker and when he was told Lewis was quicker he just let him past. It was a tremendous sporting gesture," Dennis added. Referring to Kovalainen, he continued: "He knew that was the only way because the longer he would have held up Lewis the more difficult it would have been for him to have regained the lead. It's what being in a racing team is about. "True team-mates do these things because that's the way they are," said Ron Dennis. Source: GMM © CAPSIS International Champions praise Hamilton's German drive QUOTE Lewis Hamilton has turned a corner and is now on the right track to winning the world championship, according to former triple title winner Niki Lauda. The great Austrian, who watched 23-year-old McLaren driver Hamilton dominantly win Sunday's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, is sure the Briton is driving better even than his rookie season in 2007. "Last year he was my favourite, but he screwed up in the last two races," Lauda, the former Ferrari and McLaren driver, told Reuters. "I think he's got the message now, from Silverstone in a difficult race and here in a difficult race for him. He's on the right track and if he continues like this he's unbeatable," he added. Lauda, 59, said Hamilton's Hockenheim drive reminded him of Ayrton Senna. Ross Brawn, the Honda team boss and former Ferrari technical director, said Hockenheim reminded him of another great. "It was reminiscent of some of Michael (Schumacher)'s greatest drives," Brawn was quoted as saying by The Mirror at Hockenheim. Even the seven-time World Champion himself, Schumacher - rooting for the defeated Ferrari on the pitwall - had to applaud Hamilton's "fantastic performance" in Germany. © CAPSIS International Source: GMM This post has been edited by unknown: Jul 21 2008, 10:58 PM |

Throughout the whole race, only Hamilton did consistent lap times of 1"16 range. Phenomenal....his car is totally balanced and optimized added with the aggressiveness of Hamilton's driving, superb
He owns the last 2 races hands down. No holds barred man |

QUOTE(PowerSlide @ Jul 21 2008, 03:43 PM) eksk86, You are the one who should think back what you've just said. By saying team orders, it does mean orders given out by team to the drivers. That's the common definition.what the hell u toking man..there are teamorder all these long but y'day is truely very deliberately from many point of view the rules state "no teamorders" after the rubens schumi incident and letting ur mates pass "like that" is very clear teamorder..there are no racing involve at all gosh anyway let it be..no point discuss this further and move on next gp From your bolded statement it either shows you are not too smart or u r not good at building sentences/sending out wrong meaning. So from what you say, there are teamorders all these long but yday was deliberate....hmm...does that means the teamorders all these while is not deliberate? And your second point makes me ponder in what position are you at to firmly judge that was a team order to let Lewis pass? Couldn't it be Heikki who decided to let Lewis pass knowing he's much faster than him? I wouldn't be too sure that's for sure. That is why i don't make bold statements. |

Exclusive to Lewishamilton.com: Lewis's blow-by-blow account of the Santander German Grand Prix
QUOTE You looked particularly comfortable in the opening laps - were you pushing hard? "I was definitely pushing! But the car felt so good at the start of the race that it wasn't difficult to push to the limit. I've said it before, but we've really transformed this year's car over the past six weeks. It's now so well-balanced and responsive that it just feels fantastic to drive - you can always trust it and get something more out of it - and I was actually enjoying those early laps because I was able to get into a nice rhythm. I think my start was almost perfect, too." The team pitted you a little early for your first stop - were you concerned that might erode some of your advantage? "Not really. As I said yesterday, I always trust the team's decisions and I had no problem with them calling me in a little early - it was just a precaution to avoid a random Safety Car period causing us difficulties. Naturally, I wanted to make sure I got back into the lead and I did radio the team just after my first pitstop to ask if they knew if I was going to run longer than Felipe Massa to the second stops. We were pretty confident we were going longer. After that, I had a few problems trying to overtake lapped cars. Despite that, the car felt really well-balanced and I knew I was comfortable in front." Then the Safety Car was deployed to deal with the wreckage from Timo Glock's shunt. What did you feel when you heard about it over the radio, knowing that it would destroy the advantage you had built up? "Sometimes, you just have a feeling that something like that is going to happen. And when the team came on the radio to tell me there had been a crash on the pit-straight, I wasn't too surprised, actually. We've seen before that the Safety Car can help your race or hurt it - and it's just one of those things that happens in racing. I must admit, I did wonder whether we should have pitted under the Safety Car, but I was confident the team would make the right decision for my race. I was also pretty worried about the pace of the Safety Car - if it had gone any slower, I would definitely have had problems keeping heat in my tyres and I had to work the brakes quite hard to keep some heat in the tyres to keep the pressures up." How did you react when the team told you you needed to pull out a 23-second gap in fewer than 10 laps in order to maintain your lead over Felipe Massa? "I remember flicking on my radio switch and saying, ‘You want to make it hard, huh?' and then I just decided to put everything into focusing on those laps. I was quite lucky, because the track was clear ahead of me and I could just put my foot down. I knew it was a long shot - actually, I knew it was going to be near-impossible! - but I didn't spend too much time thinking about it and just got on with the job. Driving a racing car in those situations is actually one of the most enjoyable times you can have as a racing driver - you stop thinking about the race and just focus on yourself and the car; the optimum moment to hit the brakes, the best time to pick up the throttle. You just bury yourself in the rhythm of it all - I love it." After your final pitstop, you found yourself behind Massa. Were you geared up to take him on? "I knew the gap to Massa wasn't too big, and I knew our car had the pace to take him on, so I felt confident that I would be able to have a go. I got closer to him through the Stadium Section, got a good tow out of Turn One and was right behind him as we exited Turn Two. On the way up towards the hairpin, I got a great tow and was able to slipstream past - but he was pretty quick too, so it was a case of being late on the brakes. It was pretty copybook stuff - and I wouldn't want to be in F1 if I couldn't overtake - and Felipe put up a bit of a fight, but I felt I had him covered. I'm here to race; I came into Formula 1 because I want to be the fastest driver, I want to pull off great overtaking moves and I want to race as hard as I can for the rest of my career. That's why I'm here." But then you had to do it all again with Nelson Piquet - were you aware that he was leading? "No, not at all! To be honest, once I'd got past Felipe, I thought my work for the afternoon was done. But then the team told me I still had to get past Nelson. It was good to be racing against somebody who I'd got to know quite well on the track back in 2006, when we were in GP2 together. And because I'd raced against him before, I'd sort of learnt how he races and how he reacts - you do that with all drivers you race against regularly - and I was also fully aware that he was leading a grand prix for the first time. That brings a lot of pressure with it, and I knew he'd be looking more for a good result than a struggle, so I was able to pull off another clean move to get back into the lead. We could have made things easier on ourselves at Hockenheim on Sunday, but I enjoyed the afternoon - it's always good to get stuck into a battle - and we must feel confident that everybody in the team is pushing hard to improve the car. I won at the Hungaroring last year, so I can't wait to get in the car again." Lewis Hamilton http://www.lewishamilton.com/news |

Slick tyres evaluations for de la Rosa
QUOTE Gary Paffett fine-tuned a wide number of aero-components yesterday in the first day of testing for McLaren Mercedes at Jerez as well as evaluating different suspension set-ups. Pedro de la Rosa kicked off the slick evaluation programme for the team today in sunny and hot conditions at the Spanish test circuit. The Spaniard's best lap came in the cooler morning conditions as he posted a 1:19.061s best on lap seven of 122 completed today. The time was good for second fastest on the day, two-tenths behind pace-setter Sebastian Vettel's Toro Rosso Ferrar that also ran slick tyres. De la Rosa remains on track Thursday before handing over to Heikki Kovalainen. Championship leader Lewis Hamilton is not scheduled to test this week. |

Looks like Lewis and McLaren need to make it stick this time...ppl. are still not confident of him winning based on last years cocky performance.
If it was one of the legend driving...even in the beginning of the year ppl. will say..wah sure Schumi will win again this year, or sure Senna gonna whip Prost kaw - kaw....but of course, anything can happen in F1. |

McLaren keep Kovalainen for 2009
QUOTE McLaren have ended speculation about Heikki Kovalainen's future by confirming he will race for the team alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2009. The Finn, 26, has collected 28 points so far in his debut season for McLaren but the team believe he can progress. "He is a brilliant young racing driver," McLaren chief executive Martin Whitmarsh said. "But there's no magic in Formula One and we still need to work with Heikki to extract his full potential." Kovalainen joined McLaren from Renault for the beginning of the 2007 season with Fernando Alonso moving in the opposite direction. After a progressive season with Renault, the Finn was expected to provide a tough, but more amicable, team-mate for Hamilton at McLaren. However, after 10 races, Kovalainen trails Hamilton by 30 points in the drivers' standings to see his own title chances fade. A topsy-turvy season has seen the Finn perform well in qualifying, capturing a maiden pole at Silverstone, but struggle to make his grid positions count. Kovalainen's only podium of the season has come with third place in Malaysia and the Finn has been working with the team's engineers to improve his set-up ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. But McLaren, who were rumoured to be interested in Williams's Nico Rosberg, have chosen to stick with Kovalainen as they look to build a period of stability at the team after a 2007 season upset by strained team relationships and the McLaren-Ferrari spy row. Whitmarsh added: "We welcomed Heikki on board at the start of the year. "He is under contract to McLaren Mercedes and will race for us in the 2009 season." |

Anyway Congrats Heikki Looks like the gap has is now 5points to the lead..also, Heikki should at least get top 5. Its gonna be down to the wire this year I'm thinking of getting a Lewis Vodafone red cap. Anyone got lobang? |

Summer break essential for staff - Dennis
QUOTE McLaren will begin rotating staff members on its travelling race team next year due to the absence of the August break on the provisional 2009 calendar. The sport is currently in the three-week break between the Hungarian and European Grand Prix, which coincides with a summer test ban. But even though the pause was designed to give respite on the ever-expanding F1 calendars of today, it will not appear in 2009, despite the addition of one more race next year. McLaren boss Ron Dennis is a staunch supporter of a break he deems 'essential' for travelling team members including mechanics. "They don't get the right amount of time with their families and this gives them an opportunity to have at least one week where they are not at the office or workshops," he is quoted as saying by CNN. "It's a key ingredient of keeping people motivated and happy when you are addressing the calendar, which makes next year's difficult for them. "We will have to accommodate that by rotating people. They will not be expected to go right through the season," Dennis revealed. Source: GMM © CAPSIS International |

Hamilton ends Monza testing on top
QUOTE The Formula One teams gathered in Italy have now completed their three-day test session at the Monza circuit, thereby capping off several programmes aimed at preparing the upcoming Belgian and Italian races. Of the ten drivers on track, eight set times within the same second. This post has been edited by unknown: Sep 6 2008, 09:07 PMFollowing Felipe Massa and Nick Heidfeld, it was Lewis Hamilton's turn to top the timesheets at the end of a test day. His McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 accomplished today's fastest lap of the circuit with a time of 1:22.967, a run which did not improve that of Heidfeld's recorded yesterday. Second-fastest on this Friday was title rival Kimi Raikkonen, whose Ferrari F2008 displayed a 0.404 gap on Hamilton. There was a surprise today as Giancarlo Fisichella signed the third-quickest time, his Force India VJM01 coming in two thirds of a second off Raikkonen's time but merely two thousandths of a second ahead of Kazuki Nakajima aboard the Williams FW30. The Red Bull racer handled by David Coulthard led another Renault-powered car, Fernando Alonso's Renault R28. Sebastien Bourdais set the seventh-best lap at the controls of the Toro Rosso STR3, with Timo Glock's Toyota coming next. BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica did not get as much time on the track as he wished for after a slight off caused time-costly repairs, which were followed by electrical issues later on. The Pole completed the timesheet roster ahead of Jenson Button and his Honda, last on the list with a time 1.354 seconds off today's best. The session was disrupted often due to the appearance of five red flag periods, which did not prevent David Coulthard from having a busy day indeed with 120 laps to his name. Overall, the three best lap times recorded at Monza during the entire group test session belong to Nick Heidfeld (1:22.621), Nico Rosberg (1:22.879), and Lewis Hamilton (1:22.967). The teams will now pack up their equipment and move to Belgium for next week's much-anticipated Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. Monza - 29/08/2008 1. L. Hamilton - McLaren Mercedes MP4-23 - 1:22.967 (+ 0.000) - 97 laps 2. K. Raikkonen - Ferrari F2008 - 1:23.371 (+ 0.404) - 79 laps 3. G. Fisichella - Force India VJM01 - 1:23.632 (+ 0.665) - 114 laps 4. K. Nakajima - Williams FW30 - 1:23.634 (+ 0.667) - 99 laps 5. D. Coulthard - Red Bull Renault RB4 - 1:23.737 (+ 0.770) - 120 laps 6. F. Alonso - Renault R28 - 1:23.820 (+ 0.853) - 80 laps 7. S. Bourdais - Toro Rosso Ferrari STR3 - 1:23.865 (+ 0.898) - 77 laps 8. T. Glock - Toyota TF108 - 1:23.897 (+ 0.930) - 79 laps 9. R. Kubica - BMW Sauber F1.08 - 1:24.089 (+ 1.122) - 57 laps 10. J. Button - Honda RA108 - 1:24.321 (+ 1.354) - 96 laps |

That's very like to happen, given yesterday's proceedings; bar any direct mishaps of course.
Heikki, assuming that he is running heavy, has a real chance of overtaking Massa in the first round of pitstops if he can keep a reasonable distance to him during his first stint (which he should be able to do, given McLaren's clear speed advantage). A McLaren 1-2 later today is a very realistic prediction. |

Details have yet to be confirmed but Lewis Hamilton has been stripped of his Belgian Grand Prix win following an investigation in the final laps of the race this afternoon at Spa Francorchamps.
Felipe Massa, second on track, therefore inherits the win from Nick Heidfeld with Hamilton now classified as third. In addition, Timo Glock has received a penalty and now loses eighth position in his Toyota to Mark Webber... From F1-live |

QUOTE(cristiano7mu @ Sep 8 2008, 04:13 PM) Hotwheels has no problem with Ferrari but with other teams... previously the quality of F1 models such as the McLaren, Renault and Williams have poor quality especially the body paint is rough... but for Ferrari models, the body is glossy, more shiny and smooth...Hotwheels currently confirm their license in producing Ferrari F1 cars ONLY... meaning tat McLaren, Renault and Williams will no longer be in production as F1 models from Hotwheels... |

I dont know why you guys are so worked up over this. Isnt it well-known that FIA is ferrari's guardian angel? I stopped watching F1 since last year because of all the FIArari-favoring fiasco, but came to know about this incident when I heard it on the radio in monday morning.
I've viewed some replays on youtube, and I can say that the "Lewis-gained-more-momentum-by-cutting-chicane" is total BS. Yeah, he did gain on Kimi coming out the chicane, but he LIFTED. Even the speedtrap at the S/F line shows Hamilton is 6-7kmh slower. If there's any advantages gained earlier, its already been nullified the moment he lifted. Is FIA trying to tell me that by being 6kmh slower, Hamilton's car still has more momentum when both cars are of the same weight? |

McLaren lodge Belgian GP appeal
QUOTE McLaren have lodged an appeal against the punishment that stripped Lewis Hamilton of his Belgian Grand Prix win. Stewards hit the Englishman with a 25-second penalty, demoting him to third, for cutting a chicane as he battled with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. McLaren said they are appealing on the grounds that Hamilton had immediately ceded the position back to Raikkonen. "We hereby confirm we have lodged notice of appeal," said McLaren chief executive Martin Whitmarsh. The appeal has been lodged by the UK's national sporting authority, the Motor Sports Association, with Formula One's governing body the FIA. There is some debate about whether the rules allow for teams to appeal against a time penalty - but that will be decided by the FIA court of appeal. Triple world champion Niki Lauda has already described the stewards' decision as "the worst judgement in F1 history". "It is the most perverted judgement I have ever seen," said the Austrian, who won the title for both Ferrari and McLaren. "It's absolutely unacceptable when three functionaries (the stewards) influence the championship like this." After the race, a McLaren spokesman said: "Having passed the lead back to Kimi, Lewis repositioned, moving his car across and behind Kimi to the right-hand line. "He then outbraked him into the hairpin." The incident that led to the penalty arrived at the end of lap 42 as the rain Hamilton had been praying for duly arrived. It allowed F1's wet-weather king to reel in leader Raikkonen and on the approach to the Bus Stop chicane, he had the Finn in his sights. Hamilton darted around the outside, both drivers locked up their brakes on entry and Hamilton took evasive action by using a run-off area to his left. The rules say drivers are not allowed to gain an advantage by cutting a chicane. Returning to the track in the lead, the 23-year-old knew he had to yield his position, otherwise he would have been duly penalised. Hamilton appeared to do so, with Raikkonen crossing the start-finish line narrowly ahead, before Hamilton dived across the track to the inside and overtook the Ferrari into the La Source hairpin. But race stewards Nicholas Deschaux, Surinder Thatti and Yves Bacquelaine saw things differently. The McLaren spokesman had added: "We looked at all our data and also made it available to the FIA stewards. "It showed that, having lifted [off the accelerator], Lewis was 6kph slower than Kimi as they crossed the start-finish line. "Based on this data, we have no option other than to register our intention to appeal. "We are a racing team and we will now focus on Monza (the Italian Grand Prix next Sunday), with a view to extending our lead in the drivers' world championship." Despite his joy at the apparent win, describing his fight with Raikkonen as "one of the most exciting for a long time", Hamilton perhaps had an inkling as to what might transpire. "We were still able to race at the next corner and I gave him his spot back and I think it was fair and square." Hamilton has incurred the wrath of the stewards on other occasions already this season. Hamilton's first punishment was in the second race of the season in Malaysia, where he and team-mate Heikki Kovalainen were handed five-place grid penalties for impeding other drivers in qualifying. Hamilton was then demoted 10 places for the French Grand Prix after driving into the back of Raikkonen in the pit lane in the previous race in Canada. Add the drive-through penalty in Magny-Cours and a 5,000 euros fine for being late to a press conference in Valencia a fortnight ago, and it has been a controversial year for Hamilton. But win or lose the appeal, he still has a lead going into the final five races of the season. |

QUOTE(sleepy @ Sep 10 2008, 01:05 PM) I dont know why you guys are so worked up over this. Isnt it well-known that FIA is ferrari's guardian angel? I stopped watching F1 since last year because of all the FIArari-favoring fiasco, but came to know about this incident when I heard it on the radio in monday morning. If race stewards give the driver who cutting chicane chance then the rest of drivers will follow suit. It is a metter of rules & principles. Hammy thought he was smart but the stewards out smart him. Do you think if Hammy lifted and braked at the chicane, he could be that close behind Kimi at start-finish line? |

Had hamilton not cut the chicane and keep stepping on the brakes instead, his tyres would lock, he would not be able to steer in time and crashed into kimi. Now thats "close".Do you think if Hammy lifted and braked at the chicane, he could be that close behind Kimi at start-finish line? |

Not to mention at a speed that's faster than Kimi, instead of 6km/h slower.Do you think if Hammy lifted and braked at the chicane, he could be that close behind Kimi at start-finish line? Lewis' acceleration going out of corners were much much faster than Kimi's, coz his tyres generated way more grip than the Finn's. More heat in the tyres - more grip/traction - faster acceleration - better braking. It was obvious that Kimi struggled to accelerate coming out of the chicane. And he had comparatively cleaner tyres, as Lewis would have picked up lots of dust/rubble while cutting the chicane. McLarens' superiority in low temperature conditions is mega. |

Obviously nobody ACTUALLY know what will be the case if Hamilton brake instead of cutting the chicane. All your comments are only your prediction or some even biased towards whether you support Ferrari or Hamliton.
Remember it's easier to say than actually doing something. |

I wonder why Kimi struggle so much in wet, i mean both him and Lewis are on the same tires no?It's not like lewis went off to change his tyre when it rains or something.
Pls pardon me if i'm missing something regarding the tires ya |

Yeah they were both on the same tyres at that point.
But tyre performance vary significantly in changing temperatures. It's well known that the Ferraris are much easier on its tyres compared to the McLarens. When the track temperatures are low like it was in Spa (plus it rained a lil bit near the end, which lowered the temperature even more), the Ferraris would struggle to generate enough heat into their tyres. The McLarens on the other hand, are harder on their tyres, means it was easier for them to keep their tyres in the optimum temperature range, that would enable them to generate as much grip as possible. On the downside though, being hard on their tyres means the wear rate increases, so on tyre demanding tracks, their tyres would be totally worn out by the end of the stints. And this might have a detrimental effect on their race strategy. |

But the track is WET. WET=bad traction=tyres easily locking up. Is it that hard to "predict" what will happen next if that happens?Remember it's easier to say than actually doing something. Anyway, if he brakes hard and hit the red car, I think everyone knows that there's gonna be some fiasco again simply because in F1 (Ferrari 1), its always about the red car. The red car can do whatever stunts they want and get away with it |

Hamilton puts Spa saga behind him
QUOTE Lewis Hamilton says he will not allow last Sunday's dramatic events in Spa to distract him at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza this weekend. The McLaren driver was stripped of his Belgian GP win for cutting a chicane and the team are taking their case to the International Court of Appeal. But Hamilton said: "I don't feel at all disheartened by what happened. "I don't feel that there's a need for revenge. We want to win on the track. Winning in court is not what we want." Hamilton had clinched a thrilling victory in Spa passing Ferrari rival Kimi Raikkonen, who later crashed out, as rain began to fall in the closing laps. But the Englishman was handed a 25-second penalty that saw him drop to third and Ferrari's Felipe Massa promoted to race winner. Officials judged Hamilton had gained an advantage by cutting the Bus Stop chicane in his battle with Raikkonen, but McLaren have lodged an appeal on the grounds that Hamilton immediately ceded the position back to the Finn. The hearing will be heard by the court of appeal of Formula One's governing body, the FIA, before the end of the month. With judicial proceedings under way, Hamilton had to watch his words but did say: "Everyone in the team thinks we've won the race on moral grounds. "We just have to try our best to stay squeaky clean, stay out of trouble for the rest of the season, and not let them have any opportunity to put us in that position." As well as examining whether Hamilton surrendered any advantage he gained by cutting the chicane when he let Raikkonen past him on the pit straight, the court may also examine the manoeuvre at the chicane. Hamilton himself discounted suggestions that a lack of grip forced Raikkonen to brake earlier going into the chicane, causing the McLaren driver to veer off the track. "We had the same amount of grip," said Hamilton. "That's the way he drives. "If you don't have the balls to brake late, that's your problem. "At the end of the day, in those situations, it's the driver who can feel the grip more, and put the car more on the edge. "I'm great in those conditions, and I felt the grip more than he did. I knew where to place my car, I placed it in a different position to him and I found the grip." For now, the 23-year-old is determined to put the appeal to the back of his mind and focus on the looming battle with Ferrari in Monza. Hamilton arrives at the Italian marque's home race two points ahead of Massa in the drivers standings but believes McLaren have the upper hand going into the weekend. "I hope what has happened does not have an effect, and I plan to make sure it has no effect on the championship," insisted Hamilton. "I still have a two-point lead and we will continue to attack and perform like we did in the last two races. If anything we can use this [the Spa incident] as our fuel to keep pushing. "Massa is on his back foot. He has to work damn hard to keep up with me. "We do have a close battle but I'm in a very strong position. I have a great car and we will continue to take points from them. "I feel like I'm coming away from a win and moving on to the next race. "We're having a great season battling the Ferraris and it's a real pleasure. But I think we're coming here for a great win to beat them on home turf like last year." |

Whats the strategy this time?
I think its Heiki gonna block everyone at certain points to make the pack tighter for Lewis to come in from the back. Whether Heiki will move over for Lewis thats another matter as I'm 100% sure Massa will pass Vettel easily. Kimi will play blocking Lewis tomorrow..... So we can expect terrible things to go wrong for Lewis... What ever it is, the gonna be a very tough day at the office for both Heiki, Lewis and the McLaren team. |

Luck always play it's part, the thing is Massa didn't make the most out of it as well. Hope Lewis can climb up fast and avoid any contacts as he'll be stuck in the middle coming to the 1st corner.
Lots of overtaking boy |

Ron Dennis, McLaren-Mercedes (Team Principal):
“Heikki performed tremendously well this afternoon, and his P2 grid slot for tomorrow is a fully deserved reward. As for Lewis, the weather conditions made things difficult for everyone, not only us, and in addition to that we were caught out by a less-than-fully accurate weather forecast. As things turned out, there was only a narrow window of opportunity in which to cut a quick lap, and things didn't fall kindly for Lewis. But the weather may be unsettled tomorrow, too, and if so he should still be in a position to score a good result even though he'll be starting from a lowlier grid position than he would ideally have preferred. Lastly, I want to congratulate Sebastian Vettel and my old friend Gerhard Berger, of the Scuderia Toro Rosso team, on the occasion of their first ever pole position. But Heikki has a very good strategy for tomorrow so let's see what happens.” Norbert Haug, McLaren-Mercedes (Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Vice President): “This is exactly what should not have happened to Lewis - but we have to accept it after so many great qualifying results we had. Heikki was great and will start from the front row. Lewis's competitors are not too far away; at least this is positive. Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel and Toro Rosso on their first pole - this was a top performance. Tomorrow is another day and we will fight and be focused to do a better job and this time with both cars than today.” Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren-Mercedes (1:37.631, 2nd): “A really close session; I missed pole by just .076 seconds. My first attempt in Q3 wasn't perfect and further rain later in the session made it almost impossible to improve. On my final run, I gave it everything but there wasn't enough grip to beat Sebastian Vettel. But congratulations to him on his first pole. Nevertheless, second on the grid is still a good basis for tomorrow; our car has shown good pace in both the wet and the dry so I'm feeling confident.” Lewis Hamilton, McLaren-Mercedes (1:39.265, 15th): “It was a joint decision to go out on wet-weather tyres at the start of Q2 - partly mine and partly my engineers'. We thought it was the right way to go at the time because it was getting dryer but the grip-level was poor so I came in and switched to extremes. By the time I got out, it had begun to rain and I just missed the window when the track was at its fastest; it was also very hard to pick out the braking points. It's the first time this has happened to me in Formula 1, so I can't really complain - tomorrow's another day and we still have a fighting chance to make our way up the grid. I'll be doing the best job I can.” |

If Lewis was lucky enough, he could very well be on the podium. Look at Kubica.
Too bad he didn't have enough to go late for pit stop like Kubica and have to stop 2nd time for tires. |

FIA confirms Hamilton sanction
QUOTE The FIA's International Court of Appeal has decided to reject the McLaren team's appeal of its Belgian Grand Prix penalty, declaring it inadmissable. This post has been edited by unknown: Sep 28 2008, 10:06 PMThe sanction given at Spa-Francorchamps was a drive-through penalty, which cannot be appealed. When such a decision is taken by the race stewards after the conclusion of a race, 25 seconds are added to the driver's total running time as a substitute. The ICA considers that the 25-second penalty replaces the drive-through option, and therefore cannot be appealed as well. "In view of the foregoing, it follows that there is no need to examine the substance of the appeal submitted by McLaren," reads today's decision. Hamilton cut through a chicane to avoid contact with Kimi Raikkonen during the closing stages of the Belgian race, passing ahead of the Ferrari driver. He immediately pulled back to give the lead position back to Raikkonen, just before overtaking him again at the following corner. The stewards considered the move improper. Now that the matter has been closed, Felipe Massa is confirmed as the winner of the Belgian Grand Prix, while Lewis Hamilton's victory is transformed into a third-place result. The move in the final positions cost Hamilton four championship points, while Massa gained two. Statement from the FIA: At the Grand Prix of Belgium, run on 7 September 2008, and counting towards the 2008 FIA Formula One World Championship, the Stewards of the meeting imposed a drive-through penalty upon the driver of car No.22, Lewis Hamilton, for a breach of Article 30.3 (a) of the 2008 FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations and Appendix L, Chapter 4, Article 2 (g) of the International Sporting Code. As the drive-through penalty was imposed at the end of the race, 25 seconds were added to the driver's elapsed race time in accordance with Article 16.3 of the FIA 2008 Formula One Sporting Regulations. Article 152 of the International Sporting Code states that drive-through penalties are "not susceptible to appeal." The competitor Vodafone McLaren Mercedes appealed the Steward's decision before the International Court of Appeal in a hearing in Paris on September 22nd. Having heard the explanations of the parties the Court has concluded that the appeal is inadmissible." |

Not sure if it was the car...or him...but I was dissapointed with him. Pppl. could say he held up Kimi and Massa at the back pack, but I dun think so. |

He tends to go missing especially if he drop down to the mid pack, need some wake up call i guess This post has been edited by bearbear: Sep 29 2008, 12:30 AM |

i guess the finnish fire just got extinguished this year and his 1st win is merely by pure luck only. same goes 2 kubica. the only new winners i respect is vettel and alonso. maybe mclaren should stop hiring finnish driver because their time is up FINISH.

But actually, McLaren team is gambling on young drivers...lucky Lewis is performing, if it was Kov as the first driver and some no name as the second...McLaren will hit all time low. Vettel is good..need more time to see him perform. As for the remaining races...looks like McLaren car isn't performing as well as the Ferrari. They are eating tires. Lewis got no answer for it. Hamilton rear tires looked bold yesterday. I wouldn't think he can management to overtake rosberg if it mattered. Can I say Lewis was lucky due to the Ferrari mistakes? If the race had no incidents, I bet Massa would have been looong gone and Kimi breathing down Lewis neck and overtaken him. McLaren need to improve more.... That's sport for you, taking advantage over your competitors. I can say Lewis is pretty unlucky as well in the early phase of the championship where on few occasions he had a comfortable lead only to be cut short by safety car. Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it goes against you, luck do play a part. |

it seems appropriate that the photo was taken just as they walked past the mclaren pit.=) was nice of the mclaren crew to let ferrari crew know that one of their drivers were stuck all alone at the end of the pits. i wouldn't have bothered! let massa rot there for all i care.lol

With ferrari powderful cars, Lewis can still lose the championship, Kovy need to play shotgun to Lewis...
This year i think only once he did help Hamilton, Kovy needs to be up there with hamilton to make any impact to this... |

Why do I always feel that Jenson Button is born to race in a McLaren car... I feel that when Jenson drives for the McLaren F1 team, he could win the world championship... !! I had this feeling in 2006.

QUOTE(azbro @ Sep 29 2008, 07:09 AM) Lewis and Vettel... I disagree. At the time Kimi was gone and they needed a driver that represent what Ron idea of what a McLaren driver should be. And only Lewis fits the bill at the time. Oh he might be young, but remember that he was blooded since a young age at McLaren. he knows all about the team, how the team works and stuff. That and his immense talent means that it was a no brainer choice. he has shown he can adapt to any kind of car in any kind of condition in both F3 and GP2. And he shows that during his initial year in 2007 when he can take any setup done by Fernando, and adapt it to his driving style and end up FASTER than even 'Nando himself can go. If the race had no incidents, I bet Massa would have been looong gone and Kimi breathing down Lewis neck and overtaken him. McLaren need to improve more.... On heikki, the team was banking on him to deliver because of the lack on traction control. As you might remember, GP2 has no traction controls, thus in theory, newer drivers from GP2 would adapt more easily to this compared to older drivers that had driven F1 years with TC on. All in all, Lewis outdrove the car this season. I don't care what people say that he is leading because he is in a fast car. The car is just a medium. The driver is what makes it fast. Vettel found that out in Monza. On other events. I feel that Massa has it coming in Singapore. Lewis had won in fair and square in Spa, and thus, call it divine intervention or god's will or anything. But what goes around comes around. |

Well yes, Massa is to be blamed for the 2nd incident but so is Ham for the 1st corner.
I'm really surprised at what he did at 1st corner, he was talking about how he learn to drive for points after SG GP but what is he doing at the 1st corner?Even Kov looks kinda surprised when Lewis steer his car like that He has to learn to be rational, not all emo when thing goes wrong. Compare to the other ppl that have been in F1 for years, he's done good. remember how Kimi was during his time at McLaren? The same as Lewis. F1 difficult to predict whats gonna happen, even after the checkered flag goes down..
If Lewis didn't do the first corner stunt, something else bound to happen... 5 points in two races..... Positive note...he lost nothing....he still has the privilage of staying behind massa to win....so i think Lewis still be able to clinch the World Title. Added on October 17, 2008, 9:25 pmI really hope Heikki can help Hamilton win the title since the whole world is against Lewis....sure got big bonus for him if he protects Lewis backside from the Ferraris and others This post has been edited by azbro: Oct 17 2008, 09:25 PM |

Is Massa also running a used engine this weekend? Maybe McLaren will use Heikki as the 'rabbit' in front for Massa to chase & win the race thus putting extra stress on the engine/gearbox while Lewis will just maintain 1 place behind Massa.

Yeah very lucky for Hamilton...I thought he lost it already after Kubica overtook him, mana tahu suddenly Glock's car slowed down....
Either ran out of fuel or he must be hydroplaning like mad due to his car still using slick tyres at the last straight |

Really dramatic and nail-biting finish. What a race! Massa did all he could, thought he had already won, but mana tau Lewis have a bit more luck than him. You can see clearly Massa cried. This is definitely the best F1 finale race of all time!

As much as Im happy with the results, I do hope our fans do not go overboard by starting a flame wars between Ferrari fans. I had enough in football lounge and do not want that to happen here too. We just take it as pinch of salt aite.
Anyway, I wouldnt say a good drive from Hamilton, he was seriously on defensive mode today with the hope not to ruin everything and maintain his position before Vettel spoiled up the party. Wouldnt wanna comment on Glock tho AND YES !! HAMILTON IS THE 2008 WDC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This post has been edited by mizivincible: Nov 3 2008, 03:21 AM |

It was Kubica's overtaking move that causes Hamilton to run wide |

whoever says F1 is a boring sport deserves a good whacking in the head.
Almost got a heart attack last night during the last 2 laps. was watching together with 3 of my friends at my house. 2 Ferarri supporter, 2 McLaren supporter. I already gave up hope when they were near the end until i saw the official ranking. I'm like, WTF! Added on November 3, 2008, 11:22 amGo HAMSTER!!!! Thankfully he won. If he had lost, imagine the backlash as Massa got a free 1 point from Japan when they gave that stupid penalty to Bourdais

Dennis to quit as McLaren F1 boss
QUOTE Ron Dennis is to step down as team principal of McLaren and hand over to current number two Martin Whitmarsh ahead of the new Formula One season. Dennis, who has run McLaren since 1981, will stay on as chief executive of the McLaren Group of companies. Whitmarsh will take over the running of McLaren's F1 operation on 1 March. "It's time for Martin to take over. It is 100% my decision - this is a job he will embrace and from now most race-day decisions will be his," said Dennis. "This is the right time for this decision. But don't see this as some sort of retirement because it is the exact opposite. "The first thing I must do is raise my own game because everybody realises this is a tough period in which to work. "We are a very diverse organisation and we have a number of other projects ongoing, including the development of our road car, and that is going to be a real challenge. "I will still be full executive chairman. But it's time, and it's absolutely 100% my decision. It's what I want to do." added the 61-year-old. Whitmarsh, 51, has been at McLaren since 1989, when he took over as head of operations. And he said: "It doesn't feel like a bombshell to me - Ron has reached this point and I was keen for him to dictate a timeframe - but I certainly didn't push him. "I've worked with Ron for 20 years and he has had an incredible career, but Formula One is changing and evolving and so is this business." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport...one/7833402.stm |

We are not competitive - McLaren
QUOTE McLaren say they face a race against time to match the pace of their rivals ahead of the opening Grand Prix of the 2009 Formula One season on 29 March. World champion Lewis Hamilton's car has performed poorly in pre-season testing. Team boss Martin Whitmarsh said: "We are working hard to resolve a performance shortfall." Norbert Haug, engine partner Mercedes' motorsport boss, added: "We are definitely not fast enough and not competitive enough to aim for wins." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport...one/7941572.stm |

kinda funny cos Brawn is using the same engine, only major difference will be KERS and the ever famous front wing.
I wonder how will the car perform without KERS, teams with KERS didn't perform well anyway. Wonder why the 3 teams are so 'daring' to try something that might just had compromise their car |

QUOTE(bearbear @ Mar 28 2009, 06:14 PM) kinda funny cos Brawn is using the same engine, only major difference will be KERS and the ever famous front wing. It's abt gamble and finding loopholes in the regulations. Ferrari and McLaren have done that before.I wonder how will the car perform without KERS, teams with KERS didn't perform well anyway. Wonder why the 3 teams are so 'daring' to try something that might just had compromise their car Lewis will be starting at 18th place thanks to the relegation of Toyota cars to the back of the grid. Having said that, it is an uphill task for McLaren to get a podium finish tomorrow. |

hamster had his gearbox changed.. which comes with a race penalty.
sigh.. how the hell did they get it so wrong this season.. Not to mention that there's no more testing in between races... the only changes they can make and test is during practice round during race week.. If you start with a bad car this year.. it's gonna take a hell lot longer to get it right. Added on March 29, 2009, 12:44 ami'll be sitting in front of the tv at 2pm today screaming "RUN HAMSTER, RUN!"... lol.. who's with me? This post has been edited by raist86: Mar 29 2009, 12:44 AM |

well they did gv more coverage for ferrari and mclaren during their prime day, doesn't surprise to see less of these two tmr if they are stuck in the middle/back group. Moreover, Brawn GP has basically surprised everyone. It's like some football team in 2nd division suddenly toping the 1st division

I've got a suggestion...Vodafone sponsor the Brawn team fully and paint the cars same as McLaren...

Well I ain't blaming them that much. F1 Racing had pointed out that of all the cars on the current grid, McLaren was the most "legal", IE the car has no apparent rule bending design. Maybe we were being too honest this season?

well bro. u might be right.
McLaren might be too honest. but those F1 engineers (all team) are clever enough im sure they will somewhat find the 'loophole' that they can stick their heads out from the dark hole. it's just a matter of time and BGP was damn lucky enough coz their engineers found it first. that is my opinion only la. i might be wrong |

Maybe Lewis will be promote to 3rd.
QUOTE McLaren have confirmed that the FIA are examining whether Lewis Hamilton should have been classified as finishing third in the Australian GP after the team accused Jarno Trulli of illegally retaking the position behind the Safety Car. In an incident missed by the television cameras in the aftermath of Robert Kubica's collision with Seb Vettel, McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh has confirmed that the team believe Trulli should be stripped of his podium position. "At the end of the race, Trulli fell off the track and went on the grass. Lewis had no option but to carry on and take the position. Trulli then came back on and re-took the position. The FIA is looking at it." dunno wat happen there. This post has been edited by cristiano7mu: Mar 29 2009, 05:10 PM |

Damn happy with lewis' position. 3rd or 4th, thats a great result considering a bad start to the season with their not so competitive car compared to last year's

hekki got into a tangled mess during the beginning of the race...
The hamster did it again.. from the bottom to the top pile. seriously though, mclaren's enginners must be really honest this season... I think they're afraid of penalties already... no more thinking outside of the box. |

18th to 3rd...well, you can't get better than that..mark of a true champion....but McLaren seriously need to improve the car...they can't be starting from the back everytime!

it's not an earpiece. It's a wireless radio set like the one used by teams
