Hi guys.. I'm noob here with regards to Perdana V6.

Planning to buy a Perdana V6 year 2005 for 50k.

Any general advice from u guys before i buy the car?

Is there anything in particular that i need to check for Perdana V6?

Btw, is it possible to ask Proton service centre to change the radio set in Perdana V6 to the one like Waja CPS (CD)?

All your help are highly appreciated..

Thank you. smile.gif

perdana comes with a cd changer.
why do u wanna change to waja cps' radio cd set?

also, change to aftermarket ones la. better.
or better still, change to dvd+usb player la. lagi syok..

Added on December 6, 2009, 11:38 amgeneral advice from me:

1. use semi-synthetic engine oil, change every 5K km, change oil filter too.
2. change ATF every 10K km, and service it every 20K km.
3. at 100K km, do a major service, don't skimp on anything.

btw, i use Pennzoil Platinum 10w-40 Semi-Synthetic engine oil and Pennzoil Multi-Vehicle ATF

what kind of belting sound?
like screeching sound?
maybe the belting is a bit loose.
hv to ask mechanic to tighten the tensioner.

what's the mileage?
100,000km need to do major service.

horn got no sound?
check the horn's wiring.
sometimes, the wiring loosen and disconnect from the horn.
horn is located behind front bumper, under the headlights left and right.
left is for high pitch sound, right is for low pitch sound.
need both to work for the horn to sound good (big car-ish sound, example, if only left is connected, horn sound like kancil horn)

Thanx a lot NeuroOne!

Just signed the papers today, will get the car by 2moro. thumbup.gif

Another question bro, since i bought the car 2nd hand and i asked for a maintenance log but they don't seem to have it.

The mileage is at 97000km. So I'm short of just 3k km for a major servicing. sweat.gif

Is is possible to get a new maintenance log? And I'm planning to use all original parts for this car and by that it means i have to go to Proton service centre. But the labor charges there are freaking expensive la.

Is it possible for me to buy the parts from authorized EON supplier and fix it outside? Or is it better to just stick with Proton service centres? Any thoughts on this ppl?

no problem nazril.
just 3K km more? hmm.. kopak la.. haha..
it is possible to buy ori part from EON or Proton and do it outside.

i did my major service with an outside workshop.
heck, after my 100K km service, i did all my services and repairs with outside workshop. haha..
i buy all items from various places/people.
then ask the workshop to do the servicing for me.

u can get good deal on parts from airline (a forumer here)
i hv bought many things from him before.

btw, i'm in putrajaya.
u wanna join Vsixers' TT?
we have 3 TT nites every week.
tuesday (rafi bistro, shah alam), wednesday (NZ, wangsa maju) and friday (Mosin, TTDI).
come join us...

Been driving a 2002 PV6 for almost 2 years now...Bought new and handed over to me by dad at ~50k+ kms...car was stock standard when I took over. The car is 110k+ kms now and till date have installed the below (i know it's not high end stuffs so please don't laugh at me sweat.gif ):-

1. ATF cooler (immediately after taking over)
2. 7 point earthing (immediately after taking over)
3. Pivot Blue Raizin VS
4. Michelin MXV8 (still running on it after 60k kms with 40% tread left)
5. SACHS Advantage all round (making noise now after 60k kms...need to replace soon)
6. Autofoam Track Package
7. LED trunk, footwell and puddle lights (DIY)
8. Hella FF75 Driving Lights
9. Osram Nightbreakers (used 3 sets, burns out every 9 months as I drive early in the morning to work and late at night from work daily)

I'm sure all Perdana owners will agree with me that the headlights are "a bit" weak, even with the built-in fog lights on. This is what prompted me to install items #8 and #9 above. Although better, I'm fed up of changing the bulbs every 9 months @ RM 90 per pair which brings me to the latest and IMO the best upgrade I've done for my beloved car below:-

10. Retrofitted BiXenon Projector headlights (DIY)

My brother once got a V6, you know, the well known faulty gear and nothing proton did to rectify that. It got some power in it. But there is acceleration lag - timing of engine to pedal feel is bad. Sold.

the tranny problem was inherited from mitsubishi.
and mitsubishi wont let proton touch it.
that's why, when gb kong, u either overhaul it or or buy halfcut gb or buy recond or buy new or change to manual tranny.
which in my opinion, manual tranny is the best option.
*best option but me myself love auto tranny.. hehe..

with manual tranny, the acceleration drag gone, power is instant.
