Got my alternator replaced for nearly 3weeks and thought every thing would be find until i faced my worst nightmare, my v6 break down again mad.gif i have to sent my car to workshop for the mechanic to identify the problem of the car for me. It took him 2days to figure the problem, but i rather find it odd thats why i thing is necessary to post here for people who have experience can come in and share with me.

The mech told me that it was my V6's ECU chips that related to the electric current or alternator chips that caused my car current from draining out, which caused my alternator "armpture" to finished up the "carbon". All wiring has already been checked and are still in usable condition.

Now my mech told me i have to repair my ECU in-order to solve and fix my car problem.

I'll like to know is that such thing from ECU chips that can caused car current draining away and alternator to break down and spoilt

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

It's my favorite way of accelerating...usually drag 2nd gear reaching 5k rpm and shift it back to D...anyway...the 'sudden' pull is a nice feeling...hehe

the spirit will overcome your soul... with this v6 engine.
try do this:

drive as normal at D, when you reach 40km/h... downshift to 2ND gear... then floor your pedal all the way down. biggrin.gif

and tell me what do you think.. heh.

bro

is it true that we can use wira 1.6 auto gearbox in a perdana v6?

heard this was one of the cheap fix solutions used by used car dealers for v6's with gb problems...but dunno if it would bring harm to the perdana v6

comments?

silbii,

I'm not sure if it is possible.

But the question is, why and what for?
Auto tranny for Wira and PV6 are abundant. Problem is that PV6 auto is more prone to condemn, so you keep replacing them.

If it is possible to install Wira auto into a PV6, i think it would condemn even much faster than the ones meant for PV6.

And by the way, PV6 auto has the fuzzy logic system and autocruise linked to it. By replacing with Wira auto to a PV6, both the features will be disabled by default.

My perdana (auto) having this prob.. gear will be in "free' mode when about 2-3rd gear (at certain rpm? not sure). it means that when i start accelerate it, the gear shift is smooth, but at the 3rd shift, it goes free about a second and then ok back and proceed to the next shift.. usually, when i press the pedal, i have to endure or release it a bit at that time and then press it again once it ok.. this kind of problem can be fix instead of changing new gearbox? i'm a noob in this car thingy..

by the way, it's an old 95 model with 6A12 engine and latest facelift.. bought it on march 2008 and i had change to new gearbox once on may 2008 (just 2 month after bought it) after it blow on the way to LCCT..

another thing, to all taiko here, is manual gearbox is quite problem-free and how much overall it cost to install them (any estimate cost please)? .. can recommend me any good pv6 mechanic near KL (bandar baru sentul)?.. thanx

I have a cousin who fitted a 19-inch rims into his Pv6. I guess the tire size was 235/35 R19 if not mistaken.
Me myself using perdana V6. Bought it 2nd hand. Gearbox failed after 3 months. Changed it to manual gearbox to prevent future headache =).

if i'm not mistaken, v6 after mid 2005 has installed atf cooler.
but that does not necessarily mean 100% trouble free..
my gb is 6 years old, still going strong eventhough my right foot is very heavy.. icon_idea.gif
always change atf fluid @ 20K~25K km, and change the atf filter + atf fluid @ 40K~45K km..

try flushing ur gb and change the atf filter + atf fluid.
put no more than 3.75 litres in the gb.

manual box will last very very long, as long as u get a good manual gb with good internal parts + good mounting.
and don't forget to service it regularly..
estimated cost aroung RM2.5K~3K..

sorry can't recommend any mechanic in kl, i hv my favourite workshop near my place (putrajaya).
but my some of my fren might know. i'll ask around..
