i'm attending a course for 4 days in penang in July. it will be held in evergreen.
my budget for hotel room is between rm150 to rm180. max is rm200 (have to top up with own money)
i called G hotel, northam, Gurney Hotel n evergreen n found that their rates are above my budget.

is there any nearby hotel within my budget?
walking distance is ok, i don't mind.
during nights and weekend, i would like to do some touristy stuff like shopping for local items and eat popular street food.

i have read all posts in this thread and unfortunately, i'm not sure which hotel to stay.
pls help. thanks  notworthy.gif

Other than GoodHope Inn 04-229 0111, there are no other Hotel nearby that I can think of that's nearby your course.
The organizer of your course should have a better deal with Evergreen for its participants to stay!

Better drive to Penang with friends who can drive also. Less stressful, take turns drive and help navigate.
Stay on the Island cos got more to see and do.
On the island got so many famous Catholic Church. On the mainland got St Anne that I know of.
If you are not into shopping, some place or historical places, you need to specify EXACTLY what you're into.
Food? Street food? halal or not...etc?

Hi,
Is the ferry still in service? If yes, can anyone advice where to turn off from the h'way? can't recall seeing any signboard leading to the jetty as what I saw during my last trip there many months back is only signboard of the bridge.

Thx.

i assume you comming from KL.

after you pass by autocity (or juru tol), keep on your right.

dont turn left when you see the penang bridge signboard. Keep on right, follow the bukit mertajam/butterworth signboard

then after your passby the junction to penang bridge, keep on your left, exit the highway when you saw butterworth.

You will see a big shopping mall named pacific on your left.

go straight all the way on that road and you will reach the ferry area

and yes, the ferry are still in service

The only way to drive up to Penang Hill is by the Jeep Track in Botanical Garden, there is also Jeep service for those without transport(but its pretty expensive).

I'm not really sure a private car is allowed to drive up the hill or not... sorry blush.gif

1) No idea, Its depend on individual...
2) On the mainland, there is St.Anne Church.. And on the island, the most famous church is St.George's, but that is Anglican churches..
3) More detail, what you prefer natural or whatever...
4) Halal or Non-Halal, or vegetarian.... and you type of dining, luxury, hawker etc?

Hi ya, ok la Hotel Royal, behind the hotel, there is a coffeeshop.
In the morning, got famous Hokkein Mee, Indian laksa, Wan Tan Mee...etc.
Do go early or else got to wait very long or worse finish!

In the evening behind, along Nagor Road have lots of eateries. For those on a tight budget, there is a cheap and good BBQ steamboat Buffet, where its guest are spilling out on to the pavement. laugh.gif

BUT Hotel Royal is far from Gurney Drive.

So depends on your preference lor..
If u want good food+shopping, definitely G hotel is nearer. In fact, if you plan to get a 3star hotel stay, you may try Berjaya Georgetown Hotell in Midlands. Walking distance to gurney.

Yes, it is near to Gurney drive but...
To far to walk to attend a course in Evergreen Hotel. By the time you reached, so sweaty and tried!
This is not like an evening walk where the sea breeze is cool and comfortable.
