So, for those who have experimented on 1.1.4, was it worth your trouble to update?

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Mar 4 2008, 08:39 PM) the conditions for it to come here officially are not possible:- Local telco packaged plans + iTunes Malaysia. Got aaaa? Maybe on the first condition, but ....iTunes Malaysia? Does anyone here ACTUALLY TRIED the AT&T sim unlocking via iTunes(not jailbreakme/iclarified/ziphone/i-what-the-fcuk-ever) for their American iPhones? THAT is how it is done legally, not through all the jailbreaking and the unlocking we are doing right now. don't be that skeptical dude. maybe it will be sold on country-locked basis, but without any contract with operator. or it will be optional. maybe the mechanism of legally unlocking the phone doesn't only come through iTunes, it will come with some methods (the official unlock). if it will can only unlocked through iTunes, how T-Mobile's and Orange's iPhones can be unlocked in the first place, while they are not intended for that to happen when it first hit the European market? the solution is channeled through the operator. that means there is another solution.not to say that it will surely arrives Malaysia on that favor, but i can see that's the case if it really does arrive on most of Asian countries. i can't see the reason why apple would not sell their iPhones here. yup the price will be that high, but hey other smartphones in the market aren't cheap what. so the price tag of RM3xxx (Orange France unlocked) is not that high. ok maybe kinda steep, but hey other apple products aren't cheap also. so if it arrives and the price is super high, what i can only say is "Apple doesn't sell cheap, affordable gadgets". but yeah, don't put high hopes for its arrival here yet. just wait and see. any q&a sessions on its arrival to malaysia will only reach dead end, as for now. but i also hope it will be here. QUOTE(BlaBlaBoy @ Mar 4 2008, 09:17 PM) That mean when iPhone come in, our current illegal iphone will have warranty as apple warranty worldwide? only if Apple changes its warranty policy issued (haha...99% won't). the answer is no. |

mmm...hope the apps will come out shortly after SDK release. or maybe Apple wanna introduce some of in-house apps based on the SDK, or maybe some early release apps. or maybe some working proof-of-concept apps.
mmm...so many 'maybe' for the nearing iPhone software roadmap event. only hope that Apple won't screw it by postponing the release until another date. hohoho...i want my iPhone to be more productive (but yeah the apps will come with price, oww...). QUOTE(futobuta @ Mar 4 2008, 09:53 PM) Two words, man. "NO SWEAT" Added on March 4, 2008, 10:25 pm QUOTE(BlaBlaBoy @ Mar 4 2008, 09:17 PM) That mean when iPhone come in, our current illegal iphone will have warranty as apple warranty worldwide? QUOTE(darkimp @ Mar 4 2008, 09:34 PM) 2 ways of looking at this. On one hand, Apple's warranty terms do dictate that so long as your iPod or iPhone has not been physically modified in any way involving opening up the device, nor has it been soft-hacked in any way (meaning its retains ONLY stock default functionality), your warranty is valid. In other words, you must be able to restore EVERYTHING from your modified bootloader, IMEI, baseband + firmware (can be updated, but not tampered with hacks of any form), and of course, as reports in the US now say, the phone must be activated on a valid carrier assigned by Apple. On the other hand, I bet ANY Apple Store employee worth his/her salts hasn't realized by now that the phones are being hacked all the way. So they WILL be VERY hesitant to entertain your warranty claim should you be of eg. Asian origin with US/UK iPhones or unable to show proof of AT&T/O2 contract. Not sure whether this applies, but I doubt Apple's THAT foolish. This post has been edited by Samanoske Akechi: Mar 4 2008, 10:25 PM |
