Finally, a good use for my canned response!
QUOTE Yeah, other Premium Resellers like MacStudio are also planning to bring it in, but when i pressed for more details, no definite dates or ranges of dates are given. Unless they are planning to sell parallel imports and they themselves do the unlocking. If that happens, watch their Premium Reseller license revoked. Dont get me wrong, i will be the first to line up if Apple does official releases iPhone here. But being pessimistic is more prudent than being hopeful in this case. Please prove me wrong, i dont wanna deal with the constant jailbreaking and locking/unlocking.iTunes Malaysia? Cant see any. Use what? iTunes Singapore? Nowhere in sight. The closest? iTunes Australia or iTunes Japan to do the unlocking? A preposterous proposition if i ever hear one. A lot of folks here simply rely on hearsay and word of mouth from business folks who sells Apple stuff, without knowing how the official unlocking onto your chosen telco via iTunes work. Two choices, either Apple suddenly decides that Malaysia is worthy of iTunes of its own region (which is ridiculous, seeing how the majority of users here ,"downloads" their music and stuff it into their PMPs), or Apple releasing officially Apple-unlocked version here, which an option they provided in Germany and France. And guess what? That version wont be USD399/499 anymore, my dear salivating/drooling/wait-till-butt-grow-roots friend. Enjoy! P/S:Im gonna keep this reply as a text file, since i believe i had reposted the same response to such "hopes for those waiting for official iPhones in Malaysia" replies more than 5 times already. Next post asking the same thing again, will get this canned response. Number of times i had to respond to this type of "hopefully iPhone will launch here in Malaysia in year 200X *insert your favourite number*" = 6, and counting....UP! |

I WANT iPhone to come here, but the conditions for it to come here officially are not possible:- Local telco packaged plans + iTunes Malaysia. Got aaaa? Maybe on the first condition, but ....iTunes Malaysia? Does anyone here ACTUALLY TRIED the AT&T sim unlocking via iTunes(not jailbreakme/iclarified/ziphone/i-what-the-fcuk-ever) for their American iPhones? THAT is how it is done legally, not through all the jailbreaking and the unlocking we are doing right now. And that is only available via localised iTunes. Ada nampak itu iTunes Malaysia kah?
Another way of getting it officially is when Steve Jobs officially announce the availability of Apple-unlocked iPhones other than that squabble in France and Germany. And go Google what the price of those Apple-unlocked versions. Wanna pay that high? Be my guest. I know the only thing those who are waiting are holding onto is hope, but hang on to those hopes based on reality, not wishful thinking.
