QUOTE(primuslim @ Mar 5 2008, 05:38 AM) Hi guys just wanted to ask a quick question, Hi, you can install "Boss Pref" and then switch off EDGE.is there anyway to disable my Maxis Edge from downloading or uploading any data? as it is right now, when i'm off my home wifi and i hit safari browser or "mail" function, the iphone uses my edge to get the information (understandably as there is no wifi). My bill already rising exceptionally fast due to this. I understand the simple solution would be to just NOT open those functions. However sometimes my collegues want to look at my phone and might open the browser or surf the web to test the phone. Another reason is i'm really paraniod one day i chekc my phone to see someone watching youtube videos using the edge for data tramission. I didn't even know i have edge and i was under the impresison i had to key in a username or password or some sort. As it is right now, under the "Edge settings" there is no username or password. Another question is in my "settings" for mail, i set the Auto-check e-mail to "Manual", but it is still checking for e-mail every one hour or so automatically. Does this setting work for any of you guys? In a nutshell, how do i disable Maxis edge from retreiving or sending data unless i want it to, and how do i set the iphone to not autocheck for mail even though i have set it to manual in settings. Thanks in advance guys. ------------------------ Edited: Actually i just wanted to add another short question, i've been reading the thread and i'm certainly interested in adding the MMS option to my iphone for the reason that its nice to know its there. Other than that may i know what uses you guys use MMS for? I know the tech is very impressive but i haven't really found much use for MMS. But i know its quite popular out there so i must be missing something. maybe you guys can share some of your daily MMS uses. thanks! MMS used to sent picture for your recipient, like couple wanna sent handsome face to his gf, Maybe got some girl wanna sent picture to me, so I could see it at my phone, got the idea's? Is there anyone here who gave up a N95 for the iPhone ? Was the change worthwhile ? I'm in a bit of a dilemma on deciding to swap the N95 for an iPhone...

Oh ya, i heard that there are certain Maxis 3G sim cards cannot be used...or was it only half-functioning (sending SMS is not possible). Any idea?
If there is really such a problem, can i replace my 3G sim with a normal one? |

Am using both N95 8gb and Iphone. The Nokia is used usually for photo and 3G while the iphone is my fun phone for wifi, especially, Youtube and music.
Naka7a, it is a big hassle to do so, go thru Kastam, Sirim, if you can get somebody to buy and bring back or better still just buy from LYN, safer and you get your iphone faster plus you meet seller and get them to help you with your iphone FAQs. Price wise is very competitive now in LYN, <RM2K for 8g and abt 2.5K for 16g. |

A lot of people still confuse between:
BB = BaseBand BL = BootLoader BL only have 2. BL4.6 and BL3.9. BL = System BIOS BaseBand refers to the firmware version i.e f/w 1.1.1 - 04.01.13_G f/w 1.1.2 - 04.02.13_G f/w 1.1.3 - 04.03.13_G f/w 1.1.4 - 04.04.05_G BB = Communication Driver that controls Bluetooth, WiFi and Phone function. |

Jobs: "You'll see a lot of iPhone apps this Summer";no Flash anytime soon
* Jobs said "You'll see a lot of apps out there this summer," referring to native applications born out of the iPhone software developers' kit (SDK) due to be discussed at a special event this Thursday. We don't know if these means Jobs thinks it will take a few months for developers to start cranking out applications with an SDK that's released soon, or if it indicates that the SDK won't be in developers' hands until Summer. We'll have to wait until Thursday to find out. * Adobe Flash won't be coming to the iPhone anytime soon. Jobs said the full-blown version of Flash would perform poorly on the iPhone, and Flash Lite isn't the spirit of the iPhone's full internet experience. In mid-February we noted: flash performance and usage is abysmal on current mobile devices that support playback. With regard to performance, mobile device processors - including the iPhone's - simply aren't fast enough to handle most Flash-laden sites. Flash Lite, the scaled down standard designed specifically for mobile devices, is even too much for most devices, and isn't widely used. *Source This post has been edited by trixx316: Mar 5 2008, 03:04 PM |
