I have plaster ceiling in my master bedroom only and as I painted one of my wall dark color, I notice there will be white dust on that wall. After I clean it up, the white dust will appear again after a week. I think there are white dust everywhere in the room, just that it's visible on this wall cause it's dark color. Shouldn't be anything wrong with the paints, cause my other rooms don't have such problem, so I think it's because of the plaster ceiling - maybe the contractor didn't apply sealer?

Is there anyway I can remedy this? My plaster ceiling was already painted to match the other walls in the room.

It is the problem on the wall or the paint, not related to the ceiling. If the white dust from the ceiling, you can noticed it very obvious on the floor. For my case, the was due to the low quality of paint. I need to mop it few times, apply sealer and then apply the paint. Tedious work

But there's no problem with other rooms (that do not have plaster ceiling) and I used the same Nippon paint range for these rooms, just that the colors are different. The paint guy do not have to skimp on the paint cause I bought more than enough for him to use. Did you have the same problem too previously? After you apply the sealer, are there anymore white patches on your wall?

Yes happened to my old house. Still I believe is the paint or the wall. If plaster ceiling for your it wont happen to just the wall but the whole room. Yes white dust gone with the steps, use wet towel to mod 2 times. Wait for it clean, then apply sealer then apply 2 layer of paint.

Can anyone tell me - how many inches does adding a plaster ceiling with simple L-box design take? 10? 12? Don't want the ceiling to be too low after done...

And if no L box, just a flat plaster ceiling with downlights? How many inches would that take away? 3? 4?

Hmmm.. I like the look of L-box though... Maybe I can consider like this design I found. Not a square all around the ceiling - just on 1 wall or on 2 opposite walls to have an attractive lighting effect.

In any case, hope you sifus can enlighten me as to how many inches I would lose if installed plaster ceiling with L-Box design and if just flat plaster ceiling. notworthy.gif Thank you~

Friends i would prefer PVC Ceiling, because those look more attractive than others, easily installable, cleanable, durable, fire resistant, water resistant etc. Madaanindia deals with these kind of case.
