hi guys.. just wanna ask.. can i just install L-box direct to my original ceiling without installing the normal flat plaster ceiling?

as below image is my rough idea on how i want the L-box positioned (if applicable) so that it the light is shined down to my living room, study area and dining area.

Yellow highlighted part is where the lights should be install (again if applicable). Red will be the L-box.

Why i want only the L-box is well i like the effect of L-box, but i don't want my ceiling to be too low with an additional flat plaster ceiling. And most importantly is because i want my fan to be installed in the middle of the box direct onto the ceiling. Well i do not have the exact height measurement of my ceiling yet because my house is not ready.. should be another 1-2 months before i can get the key..

roughly how much will this cost + wiring?

i got similar problem with u....i oso dowan my ceiling low but my plster ceiling contractor told me not recommend to do L-box if no flat plaster ceiling cos the light effect will make us easy to see the uneven wall. he recommend me to install 4inch flat plaster ceiling....

Currently what mine quote a little too high for my taste

a. plain board plaster & cornice --> rm2300
b. additional l-box & longkang for curtain --> rm1500
c. Aircond point 1.5HP (+hacking +copper tubing 5ft) --> rm300
d. wiring 13 lighting point & 2 fan point --> rm700

Master bedroom (18x18ft)
a. plain board plaster (bedroom + toilet) & longkang for curtain + 9 lighting + 1 fan point --> rm2000
b. Aircond point 1.5HP + water heater copper tubing --> rm900

Bedroom 1 & 2
a. plain board plaster (bedroom +toilet) + 12 light point + 2 fan point --> rm1800

p/s - No painting whatsoever

I have plaster ceiling in my master bedroom only and as I painted one of my wall dark color, I notice there will be white dust on that wall. After I clean it up, the white dust will appear again after a week. I think there are white dust everywhere in the room, just that it's visible on this wall cause it's dark color. Shouldn't be anything wrong with the paints, cause my other rooms don't have such problem, so I think it's because of the plaster ceiling - maybe the contractor didn't apply sealer?

Is there anyway I can remedy this? My plaster ceiling was already painted to match the other walls in the room.

guess is sealer....luckily i read ur problem earlier....
i went to purchase paint for my condo and the seller told me about this...without sealer for darker color i choose will got white spot with dust....i told him i skim my wall liao and he said still the same cos skim coat=powder.....sealer different....so i think u need sealer....i purchase sealer too....worry will happen like urs....

Can anyone tell me - how many inches does adding a plaster ceiling with simple L-box design take? 10? 12? Don't want the ceiling to be too low after done...

And if no L box, just a flat plaster ceiling with downlights? How many inches would that take away? 3? 4?

Hmmm.. I like the look of L-box though... Maybe I can consider like this design I found. Not a square all around the ceiling - just on 1 wall or on 2 opposite walls to have an attractive lighting effect.

[attachmentid=3292183][attachmentid=3292184]

In any case, hope you sifus can enlighten me as to how many inches I would lose if installed plaster ceiling with L-Box design and if just flat plaster ceiling. notworthy.gif Thank you~

u need to think what downlight u wanna use first.....the long 1 i think around 6-7inch so ur ceiling will be around 7-8inch....if u use the side i think around 6inch...if u use flat type LED downlight then u can go 4-5inch kua....call the plaster ceiling contractor la....i pm u my plaster ceiling contractor and u ask him....he like to chit chat...hahahha

Does anyone have idea how to solve this shit?, there is a gap between ceiling fan and the ceiling. Most probably is the mistake done by plaster ceiling guy that install the hook. Full payment is made because my ceiling fan just installed today and found this shit. Dont thing the plaster ceiling guy will come back to fix the thing because his attitude is real sux before payment made. His attitude should be more sux now.

the fan cover cannot adjust?
