My contractor quoted these for plaster ceiling

Living Hall with L-Box design 396 sqf
Dining Hall with normal plastering 208 sqf
Guest room with normal plastering 143 sqf

Of course the above include making the necessary hole for the downlights & T5 (for L Box). Which also means 1sqf=RM6.82!!!

Price is RM5100!!!

just curious....is this price include the wiring ?

You want have flat board + L Box? Or just L box at corner only.
mine condo is 9.5 feet height. I install the flat board + L box required 10".

3" for flat board, 4" for gap between L-box and flat board for light effect and 3" for L-box height size.
*
Hi wr7878,

Thanks for your kind advice.

Is 10" the minimum it can go?
Or we can adjust the different measurements?
I am thinking L box at the corner only to save cost and also to save the ceiling height.

Mind sharing how much u spent on your plaster ceiling with your condo build up size?

Something not right on your L-BOX, 396 sqf? How big is your LIVING Room ? It means you house Living Room Wall is 99F per side...Bongalow? And you only surround by L-Box on Living room without Plant Plaster board?

Assuming you have a Livng room of 20 x 10, and surrong by L-Box, than the L-Box should be (20 x 2) + (10 X 2) = 50F
Than plain Plaster with be 20 x 10 = 20
SO your Living room will be
L-Box = 50F x RM10.50 = RM 525
Plain Plaster 200 x RM 2.30 = RM 460
Total RM985 for Living Room

Hole normally is RM5 but some are included (FOC)

Dining Hall with normal plastering 208 sqf = 208 * RM 2.30 = 478
Guest room with normal plastering 143 sqf = 143 * RM2.30 = 329

So total up should not more than 2K.
You better check where the L-Box are from and how it could up with 396 sqf.
Also, what the price for L-Box@feet and plain board cost.
Or you provide wrong info?

The reason i have 3" plaster board is i wan to hide the air cond copper pipe, no need conceal into wall.
then i can relocate the wiring light point, and u can put the downlight as well. else u only can put downlight at L box only.

refer to jo_da post abv, he have list out how to calculate the cost.

U r right, my living room is 396 sqf in total, but the L box only prob run abt 70 feet long (20' (L) x 15' (W))

L Box is 70F x $10.50 = RM735
Plain plaster is 300 (20'x15') x $2.30 = RM690
Dining Hall with normal plastering 208 sqf = 208 * RM 2.30 = 478
Guest room with normal plastering 143 sqf = 143 * RM2.30 = 329

So the total shall be RM2232.00.......?

What is Plant Plaster Board?

The T5 light need to overlap so the light through will be even?

is it ok to just connect the T5 casing plug (with a bit gap)?

i notice many contractor charge like below if need put T5 light,

Light through = rm12 per ft (not understand this means actually)
L-box = rm8 per ft

end up rm20 per ft.

Dining hall is kitchen? Else no plaster ceiling at kitchen? Unless u have wall or beam to separate the dining and kitchen?

But based on living 20' long should cover until dining area as well.
U should do L box 12L*15W on living and other simple design at dining.

Normally either do L-box light through to hold the T5 or L-box only.
L-box don't have hole gap means don't have dust inside the l-box.

Sometimes we also call l-box as light through but we just tell plaster ceiling guy we wan to put T5, they will know.

You should included Kitchen as well, else the whole floor will look funny since not wall in between Kitchen and Hall (Imaging plaster ceiling from Hall and cut off once reach Kitchen area.
So your calculation will be 32F (21+11F) x 24F =768 sqf
L Box is 70F x $10.50 = RM735 (assuming the L-box will facing one side not two side)
Plain plaster board 768 x $2.30 (9mm) = RM 1766.4
* Plain = just a board without any pattern

The kitchen will extended (13' L x 24' W) and plaster ceiling is incl by the contractor. If you guy looked at the plan, the dining area will be slightly bigger.

Bro wrb7878,

Dining hall is not the kitchen, and yes u r right, i will have a simple design of 'S" shape type (sorry can't seem to find a pic to show it) for the dining area.

So the plaster ceiling cost for the living and dining area quoted by the cons can be consider very HIGH then??
