QUOTE(Jo_da48 @ Jul 29 2011, 07:10 AM) The Indo contractor just start laying the structure and already hit problem, as the electric pipe is too low (1 feet plus from top), which cause the structure need to lower, and because of this, the aircorn can't fill into design area Now need to electric folk to jack his pipe line (3 of it) up 6inch to same level with the rest of pipe line which involved hacking again. So guess please make sure your electrian put the conceal pipe as high as possiable and dont assuming all will be same level Cannot visualize what you wrote. When you say laying structure? 1st floor slab? or ground floor slab? or is it wall?

QUOTE(phoenix69 @ Aug 11 2011, 07:33 PM) I am doing renovation for my house now, but these old USJ house ceiling are low and has many vertical beam. Any suggestions on how to tackle this? the ground floor not mistaken is 9' 6" to 10' ceiling height, drop down 13", and use L box for fan area. That is the best loh.

Can use LED, invest bigger and more expensive driver. Else you risk burning the driver or like some forumer here the cheapo driver change many times.
Unless they use high Watt LED, if not the brightness can't match with T5. T5 is so much brighter compare to most LED. Well unless you use 3W or 5W maybe is difference comparison.

QUOTE(eteractive @ Aug 15 2011, 11:28 PM) Is T5 more expensive and what are the benefits? Price: LED>T5>T8 Brightness, T5 is better than T8 but not much, marginal. T5 win in slim design. Led, I have not see any LED strip impress me on the brightness, but shock me on the wallet. Comparison you can read below. I find is very neutral. T5 vs LEDT5 vs LED Part IILED, driver is the show killer. This post has been edited by weikee: Aug 15 2011, 11:47 PM

QUOTE(papaya2 @ Aug 16 2011, 01:13 AM) yup, i search around best price is rm20 for 4ft philip T5 and below as well. rm15 = 1ft rm17 = 2ft rm18 = 3ft one thing i need to ask, have u overlap the T5 by using the joint cable some along when installation in L-box? RM 20 for 4ft is cheap. The joint cable should do the trick of connecting the t5. But make me wonder if we have 30ft L box, do we put 30ft Light, or maybe 20ft will do with some 6" gab between each light. Anyone care to share?

QUOTE(gunh @ Aug 16 2011, 11:04 AM) not 20ft. infact u may end up 32ft of light... as u need to overlap each lap by at least 1" in order to get a nice effect. By leaving 6" gap in between will leave a dark spot and will be very ugly. Oh, thank you. If 4ft = 28watt, 32ft give me about 224 watt of light. Cool I light it bright Added on August 16, 2011, 11:14 amHmm, maybe i can use T5-HO. Can double the brightness This post has been edited by weikee: Aug 16 2011, 11:14 AM

QUOTE(wrb7878 @ Aug 16 2011, 11:40 AM) I just use the normal T8...put inside the l box no ppl can see...so no bother it is slim o not. I buy GE 4' T8 + ballast = RM10/set...can sure it can last long than T5. It just like your normal house T8 u using now, how many times u change in year? i think my house did not change it for past 3 year...every day on at night. In thise case i have 20 T8 then need 20 ballast as well, so the wiring guy need more job compare to T5 come with cable connector. for kitchen cabinet then i will use T8. T5 lifespan is greater or equal to T8.

Someone ask me before about the fiber glass / "Chou Kan", this is what my plaster ceiling contract do, mix the string "think is fiber glass" with the white cement and just place on each metal stick. This will give extra strength because screwing on to the metal may not be good enough due to the current board quality. It won't cost much, my contractor did not charge me anything for this. but look bit messy on the ceiling.

Finally my Plaster ceiling contractor come collect the payment. It was introduce by my BIL, he quote me very good price, using contractor pricing. In his Invoice, he wrote
- 102ft for Light box - 17 unit of L box.
Any idea what is the difference between Light box and L box? I did not ask him, cause overall the price was 25% cheaper than what i got from difference contractor.

QUOTE(saigetsu @ Sep 20 2011, 10:53 AM) has anyone tried wood as ceiling decoration... will the cost much higher? plaster ceiling is too common... i want something different Yes, it use similar material like wood flooring, but can use thin wood. Like 11mm. Installation is cheaper. Think can be done maybe RM 10 or lower per sqft. The wood flooring worker tell me can use same wood but thinner for ceiling and he can do it (part time) because don't need heavy duty sanding machine.
