Hi all Sifu,

I found Yamaha having a home theater set for RM1799, it is a match for Yamaha Rx-v365 and NP110 speaker set.

My usage on 70% music 30% movie , is it a good buy ?

my budget not more than RM2000

NP110 or NSP110? If it's the satellite speakers i would say no for music. I had one and it's somewhere in my store right now.
For movies i guess it's quite good for it's price.

good setup u have there...
just use the YPAO setting 1st, if you don't like it, change to to your preference later...

then your have to use your ear....tongue.gif
or get a SPL meter and a measurement tape for speakers distance...
but adjustment of the EQ for each channel might be tricky...

check your speaker res. frequency, those thing like 40Hz-20kHz thing
most of the time we set the cross over like 10-20Hz above the speakers' lower limit (40Hz - 20kHz, set at 60Hz or 80Hz)

THX recommendation is 80Hz, means all sound below *0Hz will sent to the sub woofer to handle.

errr... i'm quite confused,

so if my IQ9 specs like this:
Crossover frequencies: 250Hz, 2.8kHz. Frequency range: 38Hz–40kHz. Sensitivity: 91dB. Nominal impedance: 8 ohms. Recommended amplification: 15–200W.

The iQ7 has a 40 Hz - 40 kHz frequency response, 90 dB sensitivity, 15 - 150 watt power handling, and is 34" high, 8.7" wide, and 12.9" deep

what's your recommendation?

thx before thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

if u can set individual crossover for each channel then just set 10-20Hz above the lower limit....if only one crossover (which I thick RX-V1800 only able to do 1), depends on your center which you did not mention, I would suggest you set it at 60Hz (if the center can go below 50Hz) or 80Hz for safe size.

I won't suggest you use YPAO unless your room is sound proof. If open space like living room you won't able to get accurate measurement since u will have echo back from the wall...

Instead, i set distance for each speaker & volume output from each speaker...to get the best center staging.

Hi,

Am looking at the product bulletin for both the RX-V863 and the RX-V1065
Some of the differences i've noted are:

1065 has
USb port in front
1 extra HDMI port
GUI on-screen display wit album art

don't notice any other differences.

In this case, i think i'll just pick up the 863.
some have claimed that the 863 is running out of stock - is this true?
Also, price range should be around RM2.6-2.7k?

why don't you upgrade your choice to 1800?

that's what i did, first, i'm thinking to buy 863, then dealer recommend me 1800

the price gap is less than $200

since 1800 build in material is better than 863, so the sound produces well.

Yes, it is running out of stock as new models are coming in.

As tongkito pointed out, if you are able to find 1800 at a fraction more, go for it.

yess, my old 1600 sound quality almost the same as my 1800, since both using the same material i guess.

that's one of yamaha weakness, no additional power or feature between 1600-1900, except those HD audio and digital broadcast mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif
