if you seek better sql, then you waste your time waiting for 665 biggrin.gif

my first receiver is yammy 461, then >> 463, the only difference is HDMI Audio, the sound quality is the same.

same with my yammy 1600, then >> 1800, the DD & DTS quality is almost identical.

each time yammy launch new receiver, its only minor upgrade, upscale, digital radio, bla bla, not sql.

wait for yammy 663 dropped its price....then it's a good bargain.

Hi tongkito...

thanks for advice... smile.gif

If not mistaken, DVD output 480 (as what i see this appear in my LCD TV) and with upscaling, the output via HDMI will be 1080 right?

I never seen the actual quality of upscaling on LCD TV....

to all SiFus....

Is the upscaling quality of DVD to 1080 is close to BlueRay 1080?

IMO, if your source player only support 480 i/p, upscaled to 1080p....then what you see is more or less like stretching the pictures into bigger size.

i've tried playing my Playstation one, upscaled to 1080p.... it only tears my eyes.....lol

dvd upscaling can't match the natural BD 1080, my pioneer dv600 show less differences when i upscaled to 720p or 1080p.

i don't know if you are using dedicated upscaler, maybe it could be better

yeah, if you buy 665, then you dont need to buy dvd w/ upscaling feature.

i think both 665 & dvd w/ built in upscaler are in the same quality, not using processor biggrin.gif

previously there are also 363 & 463. Just my opinion on this 465, it seems like a waste of money and either you'll upgrade it in very near future, or just enjoy it like some htibs.
I would save up more if i were to choose an AVR, at least a 6xx for start.

wait wait, i just realize that yamaha is downgrading its series.

now Yamaha 465 support DTS-HD, last time was 663 series which support dts-hd

if the price gap between 463 & 465 is small, than go for 465, you can enjoy dts hd on low end models now thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Just leave it on, it never really takes up much energy.
Congrats on your purchase, hope you'll enjoy it.

Suddenly, a lot of us bitten by the 'HT bugs' tongue.gif

1800 still available? IMHO, the upgrade in 1900 is too minimal to justify its price tag
