dell inspiron 1520(with 8600GT) vs toshiba Portégé M600 (x3100)

which one is better for gaming?

Added on June 3, 2008, 11:54 amin terms of quality. dell or toshiba is betteR?

You are comparing two totally different things. The protege is for business use, and inspiron with the GPU will run circles around the Portege

zzz lol....I think someone got misunderstood

He was asking whether turion and cd are equivalent, or competing products, since they don't have a x2 or a 2 on it.
I think he knows that turion, turion X2 and cd and c2d are completely different technology

Anyways, to the point, turions are single core and turion X2 are dual cores. Core Duo has 2 core, Core 2 Duo and 2 Cores. Turion is not equivalent to the Core Duo line from Intel, thus in this sense, the Core Duo would beat the Turion.

So

Turion < Core Duo
Turion X2 < Core 2 Duo

Turion X2 has about the same, if not the better performance as of the Core Duo
http://www.ferra.ru/online/mobilis/s26639/page-3/

Core 2 Duos runs circles around Turion X2 easily

Hello, I'm looking for laptop, for overseas use, and moderate gaming other than normal student uses..

Budget: Preferably not more than 4k
Brand: Not ACER, looking into ASUS and DELL now, any other recommendation?

Specs: Processor T7500 to T8300, RAM not less than 2G, Graphic cards preferably 256MB, Screen size 14.1"

Hopefully someone can give me some ideas...

Comparing ASUS and DELL, which one is better? In term of gaming experience and quality?

I prefer ASUS. Dell, it would be tough when it comes to servicing.

DELL is more on business. I would prefer you to take ASUS. You are rite, please no acer. I got regretted after all these years my father buy acer from his friend just bcoz his friend sells acer when we need a new comp.

Your desktop would suffice, what course are you taking? If it's in arts, an ultraportable/netbook etc, e.g. ASUS EEE, would serve you well, if you want to take notes in class that is. If you are taking science, consider a tablet, the tx2000, helps a lot in taking notes and combine it with Office OneNote, works wonders. Cost is Rm3000, or less, depending on where you are buying. And you can save the money to upgrade your desktop in the future.

In this age of increasing electric usage costs, a laptop is a much better alternative for some long-term & low-power needs (torrent downloading, etc). As I already have a desktop, a smaller laptop is my target. Smooth performance of web browsing (that means RAM), ample storage space and warranty service is the main criteria.

1. Brand. : Any brand that offers warranty

2. Budget. : Cheapest ( I use Dell's Vostro 1200 at a customised RM3150 as a benchmark, I'd like alternatives cheaper than Dell)

3. Specs. : Must have option for Windows XP Pro, largest possible storage space, 2 GB RAM

4. Size. : Must be size of 12.1" screen

Any ideas?

Added on June 7, 2008, 1:59 amWoops, forgot, DVD+-RW also a must.

Added on June 7, 2008, 3:05 amHmm, if anyone can convince me that Windows Vista Basic is suitable in terms of program compatibility, I would consider using the lower-priced OS.
