I can said nobody beats Dell warranty service. However, Asus notebook quality is slightly better than Dell. flex.gif

Hey all.

I'm a college student looking for a basic laptop to do assignments and stuff.

Other than that, I'm hoping the laptop will be able to support simple gaming (not heavy ones like Dota or CS) and also to watch movies on.

Also wanna ask - what's the average battery life for a laptop? I prefer one with longer battery life instead of good graphics card or other unneccessary specs.

Budget around RM2500.

Thanks.

noted with thanks.

p/s: somehow...to me when u guys expecting/prioritizing a good warranty service, it's like u're expecting ur notebook to go kaput in that warranty period and expect it to be fix ASAP and that is a feature u must have and used. i expect or prefer something not to go wrong at all as long as im using it, so that i wont be even needing to use their warranty service at all. Either way, Asus provides 2 years warranty by default, whereas Dell only 1.

Gaming in terms can play those games released nowadays lor , i bet most of laptops with external graphic card can play but with lower setting lor maybe . XPS is totally out of my budget , was considering Inspiron or Vostro or any laptops with 8600GT/8600GS within my budget.

This is very hard to say, I must say the laptop you getting is depends on luck. If you get a faulty laptop, then you have fully utilize the warranty. No matter what brands of notebook you getting, there are certainly 1-5% faulty laptop.

Looks like your requirement are almost the same with mine. Im looking for a laptop for gaming and 3d modeling. Maybe we can share share our research:

15"
core2duo 2.0ghz or more
2gb ram or more
8600 GT 256mb
250GB HD
dvd rw
others wifi webcam ++ etc etc

Budget RM 3.5k Below

So far this is the only one that meet my requirement.
INSPIRON 1520. Should be around rm 3.5k

But i on Hold first...cause looks like New Inspiron 1535 coming out this 26May!! And design are much much better than d current one.. So i bet to wait just a little longer. Resist temptation..
