Hi people.. I need some help again.. I still havent buy any laptop, and I missed the PC Fair last weekend. Anyways, can you help me to decide, which one I should go for - Fujitsu L1010 or Sony VAIO CGN-CS16G.

Both have about the same specs (Core 2 Duo P8400,NVIDIA GeForce 9300M, 2GB RAM, just that Fujitsu's RAM is DDR3 while VAIO's DDR2, and Fujitsu has the fingerprint recognition tech while VAIO doesnt have any) and both have very nice appearance and most important is the price is just about the same. They still have the PC Fair promo though, so I think I might need to get it by this week. I saw at the brochure that Sony is giving away a lot of freebies (including a bluetooth mouse and a walkman), while Fujitsu is giving only 2 freebies- backpack and mouse. I am having a hard time thinking which one should I go for. The thing I wanted most is not the freebies. I'm more to the specs offered. So, Fujitsu or Sony people? HELP me!

Anyways, I have another question, is ASUS really that good? I mean, there's another ASUS with a very pretty design - F6V and various colours - F8Vr.

Considering the fact that the other vital specs are about the same, I'd take the Fujitsu since it's on the newer, not yet common DDR3 memory.

Heyz there!

A week ago I asked for recommendations on laptops but no one replied. So I ventured in the recent PC fair to find out. Now I'm MORE confused with more choices. Lol.

I actually looking for a netbook. I have keeping in view with:

HP Mini 1000
Eee PC 1000h
Acer Aspire One

So far I think it is good in the sense that all of them suits my requirement well (lightweight, not so small text, good keyboard interface [except Eee PC's right shift button which is in odd position], included windows XP, sufficient USB port, etc). But any of these laptops have advantage over the other (other than price)? Or anyone has better recommandations in netbooks?

Thanks in advance ya!

Thanks for the suggestion, I guess this DDR3 is the reason why I choose Fujitsu. I went to Digital Mall again this evening and still cant made up my mind choosing between the very indulging freebies of VAIO and the a bit better spec of Fujitsu. Anyways, I've already paid the deposit and now waiting for my lappy to arrive. flex.gif

A gal fren of mine is interested in getting a laptop for max budget of RM3k.
She doesn't play games so GPU is not required.
So major requirements should be:
1) Specs
2) Looks (blue in color if possible blink.gif )

My personal recommendation for her is Compaq's CQ20.
Which is priced around <RM3k.

Hope u guys can give some more recommendations.
Thank you! icon_rolleyes.gif

Aspire One is 8.9" while the other 2 are 10"...

anyway, i prefer Aspire One... small monitor means smaller chasis, thus easier to carry around, while the font size are still decent, and it comes with 95% full keyboard, so easier to type...

i would go for Sony...

i dun know wat's the exact spec, but i presume they are using PM45 chipset, meaning either 8GB of DDR2 or 2/4GB of DDR3 (can't remember)

if i were u, i would take Sony, and slap 8GB of DDR2 into it and forget abt the rest...

seriously, u won't feel any difference in performance since the FSB is one hell of a bottleneck... so in this case, the more GB the merrier...

and DDR3 is so much more expensive... last i check in SG here it's 8 times more expensive than DDR2 (DDR2 800MHz 2GB vs DDR3 1066MHz 2GB) and prices of DDR2 is still expected to drop in the next few mths also...

Me also need recommendation for notebook RM2.5k ~ 3k, mainly office use, AutoCAD 3D and entertainment purpose. Prefer 15" if possible. I'm thinking of Dell Inspiron 1525, is Intel X3100 ok for 3D modeling in AutoCAD ?

1. Any brand that is good
2. RM 4500 ++++ but below 7000 of course
3. 17" Monitor , 2-4GB RAM (preferabably 4)

I needed this Laptop to do designs stuff... and 2gb is not enough for vista... 3gb-4gb maybe

Not for gaming since i already have gaming pc biggrin.gif

this laptop is just for works...like After effects, 3ds max, MAYA, and stuff
which requires lotsa RAM and really fast CPU

Not for rendering coz i'll use my pc for rendering

X3100 is rather dated and it's crap, and it's not meant for softwares like AutoCAD 3D. Avoid it like the plague. Intel GMA is more like 'Intel Graphics Media Decelerator'. laugh.gif
Since you prefer 15" and your budget is RM2500 - 3000, a better choice would be ASUS X59SL-20DPM.

Compaq Presario V3000 series is discontinued and good riddance to that since it's so problematic due to the NVIDIA chip issue.

CQ40-133AX fits most of your requirements except for RAM. It's only RM2099 but you can simply upgrade the RAM to 4GB DDR2 800 by topping up about RM120 (based on current market price) for 2 sticks of 2GB.

If you want Intel the closest you can get to match your requirements is CQ45-127TX. But it's about RM100 more than your maximum budget.
