Hmmm, base on the website... HP Pavilion HDX18 is also good, but i cant find any pricelist in lowyat forum....
Is it not yet producing coz i only manage to see DV series.....

When you say 8gb RAM , means can upgrade till that much? But what is the main gb ram given and stuff?

HDX16 is also fine biggrin.gif since it wont be THAT heavy smile.gif)

MSI Wind U120H vs HP Mini Notebook vs Asus EEE PC 1000H

which is one is better and please include the price. I only know asus eee pc 1000H can get around RM1.7K.

If the 3 items not good, which netbook you prefer to me? Or should i buy a notebook?

Budget: RM2000 - RM2500

Netbook or notebook, that depends on your primary use. Are you always on the move? Do you intend to use it for gaming? etc.

FW23:
T5800 is slightly weaker when compared to the P8000s and T9000s
the monitor i believe is 1366x768...

S42:
go to the S41/S42 thread if u want more confidence, at least 10 satisfied S42 users
monitor is 1280x800, still can watch 720p videos...

S42 for me...

Yup it's a notebook.
Checkout the CQ40 family here:

Acer Aspire One is good, google for reviews if you're not convinced.

i like Aspire One becuz it's 8.9", but resolution is still same as those 4 u mentioned (1024x600)... smaller monitor means smaller chasis, and thus less weight...

moreover with the latest spec upgrade (160GB HDD), it's really attractive, and with the price tag, yummy...

Compaq CQ40 series... comes with Radeon HD 3450 and AMD Turion x2 CPU... good balance of price and performance...

or CQ45 if u dun like AMD... this comes with Core 2 Duo and 9300M GS instead... and costs slightly more expensive than CQ40...

Hey y'all,

I'm heading to the US in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking to get a laptop.

People have recommended I get an Asus or Compaq, though I seem to have a lot of friends who have Macs or Vaio's. I think my preference would be Asus though.

My budget is about RM3000 or so, but it's pretty flexible.

I'm not sure what kind of specifications, but I am gonna pursue a double degree in IT and Mass Comm. I use Adobe programs quite a bit, especially for designing. Also, I download programs and music quite a bit, and also some song recording now and then. I guess, one specification would be a web cam, as I'll want to communicate with my family and friends back here while I'm away. Also, I guess I'd have to pay attention to warranty details too =/

One more thing, a longer battery life is preferable, cause I'll be mobile/not near a socket most times on campus.

Size doesn't really matter, cept I'd prefer if 15" or so be the max. Lol.

So, if y'all help me out, that'd be great =) Even better if you could point me towards a place where I could find it (the laptop). Thanks. =D

Acer Aspire ONE = RM1,400? can get it cheaper?

Sorry i don't have any experience on netbook, is it possible to install any linux version(zenwalk or mint) and make it dual-boot with windows XP?

Compaq CQ40 looks tempting too for a price of RM1,800

Hey astria,
Is compaq good? I mean.. Does it have loads of problems? I'd rather a notbook with less problems, lousy warranty compared to one with superb warranty but always breaks down. =X

i own an old Compaq laptop, almost 3 yrs, and i never send it to service center... so imo the quality is pretty good... afterall, it's part of HP...

but for me, as long as u take care of ur laptop, i dun see the need to take it to service center... (except for the Nvidia problem, of course)
