Hello guys, can you help me? I just bought a new LCD TV 32" S400A. After connecting it to my ps3, it wont switch to 720p. Just 576p. I've done the reset display thing by holding the power button longer.

I suspect my HDMI cable la. Because it's a capalang RM30 one. Got this kind of problem or not for any of you s400a users?

Added on May 27, 2008, 9:55 pmAnyone from JB got extra HDMI cable for me to borrow for awhile?
*
did you head over to the display settings and tick the 720p? smile.gif

Don't think its the el-cheapo hdmi cables, 20bucks hdmi cable from play-asia works like charm too. You could always try other hdmi cable to confirm it

then go to SETTINGS.
then fiddle around there.
there's a SETUP option,which also includes a HDMI MENU.

I bought from Kedai TV dan Radio Wong at Century Garden. Ask for special price 'cause if you ask them first time, they will give you the price from the Sony Guide, which is RM2,499. I got mine much less than that ;-)

Guys,
I might be wrong, but for a LCD TV to accept a 720p resolution from its VGA connector, u need Powestrip, which is a basically a utility than runs on your PC so that u can create a custom resolution for your VGA output
http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm

There's a guide here
http://www.ramelectronics.net/powerstrip.ep

Edit : Oh wait, u're talking about HDMI, my bad..please ignore my post, I just woke up tongue.gif

actually, the S400A can accept a maximum of 1600*1200 when connected to a pc via vga cable.
the weird thing is, 720p cant be selected(the tv will say it is out of range) rclxub.gif

S400A has 3 HDMI inputs if I'm not mistaken. Have you try all the HDMI inputs? There's a possibility that the cable could be the culprit, which means that you're very unlucky. I'm using a cheap HDMI cable bought from Play-Asia with my Sony D series and got no problems.

After I did the greyscale calibation using the Spyder2 colorimeter and ColorHCFR, my Bravia PQ now is superb either with BD movies or HD mkv files. DVE calibration disc didn't give a very satisfying result. I went to the service menu to achieve D65K calibration standard.

It seems to be full HD, but what is the purpose to buy a Full HD on a 37" LCD TV? Get at least 42", or the very least 40".

Unless you are sitting very near then that other story already
*
Well, fulll HD is useful for 32" / 37" if you use it as a computer monitor. biggrin.gif

That's why I personally doubted you when you said earlier that DVE calibration alone is enough... Congrats.

hi guy is ATI 3870 card with HDMI input able to output full screen in sony W series 40" Full HD LCDTV as i planning to buy this both stuff ......

thanks
*
I'm using an old ATI X1300 on my laptop and I'm able to output 1080p on the 46" W400 using DVI to HDMI connection. You should not have any problems with your 3870 card.

At least my DVE disc is not a waste as I use it's test patterns to calibrate with the Spyder2 and ColorHCFR....I've also learned a lot on HD basics through the DVE disc, now I'm watching BD movies in a dark room with only a 5w energy saver bulb put at the back of my bravia.... now thinking wheteher to get an i1 LT or not..... :stars
