QUOTE(TheUndead @ May 27 2008, 09:50 PM) Hello guys, can you help me? I just bought a new LCD TV 32" S400A. After connecting it to my ps3, it wont switch to 720p. Just 576p. I've done the reset display thing by holding the power button longer. s400a user here..I suspect my HDMI cable la. Because it's a capalang RM30 one. Got this kind of problem or not for any of you s400a users? i cant access 720p using my computer, either. wtf have you tried playing a game? |

QUOTE(TheUndead @ May 27 2008, 11:05 PM) That's what i'm going to do tomorrow. Try borrow the tv shop's hdmi cable and see. im getting mine tomorrow.hm.. donno lah.. havent finish reading the manual yet. hehe. you can get 720p on ps3? dude, you have me scared, right now first thing; i cant get 720p with my laptop now you cant get 720p with the ps3,WITH HDMI cables my enthusiasm for getting the ps3 is lowering now.. try this: on your remote, press MENU. then go to SETTINGS. then fiddle around there. there's a SETUP option, which also includes a HDMI MENU. try that |

QUOTE(PhoenixByte @ May 28 2008, 07:27 AM) the s400 can only go 1024 x 768 and other xxxx X 768 resolution on the pc connection. But for the hdmi connection the manual says u can get 720p...i haven't try it though since i dun have a ps3 nor an xbox360. actually, the S400A can accept a maximum of 1600*1200 when connected to a pc via vga cable.so, i hope u guys can tell the result of ur fidlling afterwards the weird thing is, 720p cant be selected(the tv will say it is out of range) |

QUOTE(advocado @ Jun 2 2008, 11:29 PM) monitor, not tv.how often do people sit within a meter of their tv? QUOTE(advocado @ Jun 3 2008, 07:26 AM) What connection you using? I tried it on a 1380 32" before using VGA input, seems the text not as sharp as using my laptop, but quite near. Maybe try switching to digital HDMI or DVi to HDMI might help. i use a vga connection, works good enough.for videos, just change the settings to sharpen the images. text is blurred abit,or else get eye strains with the sharpness |

QUOTE(advocado @ Jun 3 2008, 03:29 PM) Ok then... maybe I'll get a 720p 32" TV and a 26" 1920x1200 monitor. definitely Save the fuss of switching between TV and monitor and won't have to worry about getting laughed because I bought a 32" Full HD TV when it seems obsolete to 99% people... Also won't get eye shore because of using a bigger TV as a Monitor... If so I would be happy because I won't have to worry about upgrades in the future since 720p is good enough, and technologies can't make human eyes improve that much to tell the difference. Thanks for the response. im using the tv for the ps3,as well as extend my monitor onto it. so occasionally people send me messages through MSN,and i am completely oblivious to it,cos i cant see any messages pop up on my laptop's monitor |

from reading the manual,i know this 32S400A accepts 1080p.
but if it downscales the resolution of 1080p to 720p,why then does pressing the screen mode to change the mode to Original make the video smaller? Normal fits the screen, but Original shrinks the image. playing 1080p media,on the other hand, fits the screen both on Original mode and Normal. why's there shrinking with 720p media, when it should be full screen since this tv claims not to project 1080p?anyone know? pics: 1080p media:(original mode) ![]() » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 1080p media:(Normal mode) ![]() » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 720p media:(normal mode) ![]() » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 720p media:(original mode) ![]() » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

thanks for the reply
QUOTE(tot31 @ Jun 4 2008, 12:03 AM) to answer your question mgsrulz, the difference is pretty big as you know most of the 720p sources resolution are 1280 (vertical) x yyy(horizontal), yyy normally doesn't exceed 720. The vertical is normally fixed but the horizontal is always varies. All Bravia non Full HD LCD tv has a native 1366 x 768 resolution, so when you set to the original it'll display the original size of the source for example 1280 x 688 and that's why the source will be smaller. When you set to Normal, it will upscale it to fit into 1368 x 768. In the other hand for 1080p sources, the resolution of the source is always 1920 (vertical) x yyy (horizontal), where yyy doesn't exceed 1080. So for this source it will always fill up the LCD tv screen to 1366 x 768 no matter Normal or Original mode you set on your tv. QUOTE(tot31 @ Jun 4 2008, 12:03 AM) from where im sitting(about 2 meters from the screen, give or take) 720p at "normal" mode isnt very...pleasing to the eyes original mode kecik sangat plak the minute im in the XMB,it automatically goes to 1080p nvm nvm..just found it before this i set it to automatic..now to custom. Added on June 4, 2008, 12:13 ambetter now. have to manually disable the 1080p,or else it resorts to that reso. This post has been edited by Mgsrulz: Jun 4 2008, 12:13 AM |
