Hello guys, can you help me? I just bought a new LCD TV 32" S400A. After connecting it to my ps3, it wont switch to 720p. Just 576p. I've done the reset display thing by holding the power button longer.

I suspect my HDMI cable la. Because it's a capalang RM30 one. Got this kind of problem or not for any of you s400a users?

s400a user here..
i cant access 720p using my computer,either.

*

dude,you have me scared,right now sweat.gif

first thing; i cant get 720p with my laptop
now you cant get 720p with the ps3,WITH HDMI cables shocking.gif doh.gif

my enthusiasm for getting the ps3 is lowering now.. laugh.gif

try this:

on your remote,press MENU.
then go to SETTINGS.
then fiddle around there.
there's a SETUP option,which also includes a HDMI MENU.

try that

so, i hope u guys can tell the result of ur fidlling afterwards happy.gif

actually, the S400A can accept a maximum of 1600*1200 when connected to a pc via vga cable.
the weird thing is, 720p cant be selected(the tv will say it is out of range) rclxub.gif

My KLV-32S400A and PS3 finally working perfectly together! Now I have my LCDTV display at 720p/1080p. The problem was, as I might have guessed it, my capalang HDMI cable. laugh.gif

Sorry bad quality. Just a handphone shot. LOL

How much is the 32" Shapr 1080p? Anyone seen the Toshiba 32" 1080p Regza?
*
many people have reiterated again and again, that anything below 42" isnt worth buying for 1080p,since you wont see much of a difference(if any at all)

If not manufacturers won't be selling high resolution 24" Monitors right?
*
monitor,not tv.
how often do people sit within a meter of their tv? tongue.gif

What connection you using? I tried it on a 1380 32" before using VGA input, seems the text not as sharp as using my laptop, but quite near. Maybe try switching to digital HDMI or DVi to HDMI might help.
*
i use a vga connection,works good enough.
for videos, just change the settings to sharpen the images.
text is blurred abit,or else get eye strains with the sharpness

Ok then... maybe I'll get a 720p 32" TV and a 26" 1920x1200 monitor.

Save the fuss of switching between TV and monitor and won't have to worry about getting laughed because I bought a 32" Full HD TV when it seems obsolete to 99% people...

Also won't get eye shore because of using a bigger TV as a Monitor...

If so I would be happy because I won't have to worry about upgrades in the future since 720p is good enough, and technologies can't make human eyes improve that much to tell the difference.

Thanks for the response.

definitely laugh.gif
im using the tv for the ps3,as well as extend my monitor onto it.
so occasionally people send me messages through MSN,and i am completely oblivious to it,cos i cant see any messages pop up on my laptop's monitor laugh.gif

from reading the manual,i know this 32S400A accepts 1080p.
but if it downscales the resolution of 1080p to 720p,why then does pressing the screen mode to change the mode to Original make the video smaller?
Normal fits the screen, but Original shrinks the image.

playing 1080p media,on the other hand, fits the screen both on Original mode and Normal.

why's there shrinking with 720p media, when it should be full screen since this tv claims not to project 1080p?anyone know?

thanks for the reply biggrin.gif
QUOTE(tot31 @ Jun 4 2008, 12:03 AM)
to answer your question mgsrulz,

as you know most of the 720p sources resolution are 1280 (vertical) x yyy(horizontal), yyy normally doesn't exceed 720. The vertical is normally fixed but the horizontal is always varies. All Bravia non Full HD LCD tv has a native 1366 x 768 resolution, so when you set to the original it'll display the original size of the source for example 1280 x 688 and that's why the source will be smaller. When you set to Normal, it will upscale it to fit into 1368 x 768.

In the other hand for 1080p sources, the resolution of the source is always 1920 (vertical) x yyy (horizontal), where yyy doesn't exceed 1080. So for this source it will always fill up the LCD tv screen to 1366 x 768 no matter Normal or Original mode you set on your tv.

*
the difference is pretty big sweat.gif

QUOTE(tot31 @ Jun 4 2008, 12:03 AM)
So you will see a bit of difference of PQ between a 1080p and 720p if you look really close.
*
from where im sitting(about 2 meters from the screen, give or take) 720p at "normal" mode isnt very...pleasing to the eyes dry.gif
original mode kecik sangat plak doh.gif laugh.gif

any way i can set the resolution of the PS3 to 720p?
the minute im in the XMB,it automatically goes to 1080p doh.gif

nvm nvm..just found it biggrin.gif
before this i set it to automatic..now to custom.

Added on June 4, 2008, 12:13 ambetter now.
have to manually disable the 1080p,or else it resorts to that reso. laugh.gif
