QUOTE(azarimy @ May 18 2008, 07:59 PM)
the host will usually issue a formal invitation to each school, normally direct to the head of school. is zatur still the head of school in LKW? ask her. the school will talk to the student body, and from there on the student body will organize a selection. normally each school could send about 20-30 students only, but everyone would wanna go. so pandai2 select between urself lah. biggrin.gif

well, one of my lecturers asked me about the PAM camp, but she doesn't have much details on it. anyway, I'll ask my seniors if there's anything special for me. oh.. abt ms zatur, she's one of our design lecturers, not sure if she's the head of school. our architecture student body is pretty much complicated and sort of 'exclusive', but I can go to ask them.

I'm not very sure about that. Depends. Are we going under the college name, or as individuals?

If I'm not mistaken there's some sort of discount for students.

Hello senior..
I'm currently taking foundation at UCSI.Till now,i'm not very sure wheather i went to the right college or not sad.gif
i really love architecture since i was small,do not know what's the reason..
i wish to go IPTA,but i missed the registration right after spm result..have to wait till next year..
then i decided to take up UCSI foundation course, but i just found up that there is no scholarship for architecture in that college cry.gif (they did tell me there IS scholarship for architecture when i enrol in)
can someone teach me what to do now?!currently having financial problem..
can i transfer to IPTA right after my foundation?!

Foundation took me alot of $$....
Is there any financial aid if i did very well in my course?
i heard IPTA have much qualities in aspect of material and etc.(how stupid i am for missed out the application)(spm 7A won't have much prop. i guess)
now,i have to spend all my money and even work as part time to earn my tuition fee..(and also all sort of material fee)
well,is there any way i can transfer to IPTS from IPTA?
i'm now having little bit difficulties to DIG UP my creativity.is there any ways to improve it?
how about online study?i probably can not catch up much as my class have more than 40 student,i'm kinda SMALL compares to other..
i have promised myself to study hard,i have to archeive my DREAM.
Hopefully there is people outside who can help me out...

well, i can tell u with 7A in SPM u should be able to gain entry to a diploma course. but what u really need in STPM or matrics.

at this point, there's no way for u to transfer to IPTA. what u could do is to drop foundations and go form 6. ofcourse, u'd have to catch up a little on the classes.

and unfortunately, architecture is a very hands-on education. there's no online education for archtiecture.

hi it's me again.

i would like to ask about HKU architecture. i went to the website and it says there the bachelor's degree takes 3 years, and the master's degree takes 2 years. and since HKU's degree is accredited by PAM, does it mean that i have to complete the master's degree in order to get PAM part 1 and part 2? (assuming i can find financial aid =.=)

and when i went for interview in NUS, the interviewer told me their course is 4+1. so all this 3+2(HKU), 4+1(NUS), 3+2 but not 'master'(UM, USM) and 5 but not master(UTM) are actually the same? i remember someone (i think it's aza lar) said that all these just differ in the 'title', but does it mean if i aim to get my master's, i have to take 7 years to achieve it in local unis but 5 years only in NUS/HKU?

this is weird. do people really acknowledge you as a 'master degree person' when you graduate from NUS/HKU?

another thing (i think i got it right but just want to confirm my 'tafsiran'): i only got scholarship for the first 3 years(bachelor's degree) in HKU. if (unfortunately) i can't get further scholarship to continue my 'master's' there and have to come back, does it mean i only have Part 1? and where else can i go from there? can i apply to local unis to continue my part 2? (UTM doesn't accept Part 1 undergrads like that, right? or is it possible for me to apply for UTM's fourth year?)

thanks smile.gif

yes. refer below:

there's a significant difference in the specialization in the masters. the part 2 masters (such from australian, NUS and HKU) are professional certificates, meaning it is a certificate that u must take in order to become an architect. it's not an academic or research degree like other masters. meaning, the "value" of the masters is exactly the same as a part 2 degree in malaysia or the UK.

the academic or research masters is a postgraduate certificate that carries specialization into specific fields. for example, u can specialize in history, conservation, theory, socio-cultural, construction, technology and so on. a professional architecture degree does not allow u to specialize. an architect must be trained wholistically and not specialize too soon.

so in the professional field, a part 2 masters is treated exactly as any other part 2 degree. u get paid exactly the same. i know it's a little confusing, but we're in a transition phase where a number of academicians want to call it a masters programme, but then a lot of architects in practice refuse to call it a masters (generally bcoz they dont have one LOL).

if u cant further for part 2, then u'd have to opt to come back in malaysia. yes, local unis will accept u to continue for ur part 2 (including UTM directly to 4th year). that's assuming u have an accredited RIBA part 1 degree, that is, and satisfies the minimum requirement.
