I'm not very sure about that. Depends. Are we going under the college name, or as individuals?

If I'm not mistaken there's some sort of discount for students.

I'd agree on clayclws. =]
because you never know, who can get your creative juices flowing.

sometimes it doesn't even have to be in the architecture clique.
you'll be surprised the regular dude on the street can come up with something, but may not know how to express it.

Anyone USM USM?

I'm using BenQ s41. so far so good for me. I'm still thinking of upgrading to vista 64bit so i can get 4gb of ram. (yes i know XP is faster. unfortunately i forgot to ask the vendor to change to XP instead)

Specs for the s41.

C2D 2.0
3 GB Ram (Upgraded. Original had 2GB)
160 GB HDD.
nVIDIA 8600GS
14.1" Which i think is really clear.

Pretty good for me. though honestly I'm thinking of upgrading my desktop for the rendering parts. it's just too gay to do on a laptop.

I'm not sure about the UK standards, but there UTAS' head of architecture was around my college the other day to give a talk, and he mentioned something that PAM or was it LAM isn't to happy about the advanced standing. As such, the maximum advanced standing they, or any foreign uni for that matter, is 1 year.

I always use the newest ones. currently what I have are autoCAD and 3dsmax 2008 with archicad 11. havnt start grasping 2009 yet, need to wait the prated version to come out- lol

autoCAD LT can only do 2d commands, bad thing if you need to do 3d, but that cut out a big price, and I think lots of malaysian firms loved autoCAD LT for that.

newer/older versions do have their differences. newer ones have better commands, though you've to always check and learn from 'what's new feature'. but the disadvantage is that if you want to transfer from maybe autoCAD 2008 to your friend's 2004, you might need to save as older DWG version, to make sure its compatible.

I wonder when autodesk will learn from adobe having the 'maximise compatibility' function, so we won't have to worry of the version insimilarities. that'll really help a lot.

if you provide the student card, yes archicad 11 is free as in educational license (same functions as the commercial one). but of course, it's only 1 year though
*
So far I'm only confident in autocad and 3dsmax. I've seen a few of my senior's presentation board, some who have been using archicad.
Is it any better than autocad or 3Dsmax for that matter?

sketchup .. i'm using that too. but it's not very user friendly for me. perhaps it's just because i haven't had the time to delve into it.
college is teaching CAD and 3dsmax. unless i'm very much mistaken, lkw is teaching archicad.

QUOTE(croviax @ Jun 20 2008, 01:31 PM)
I'm currently taking diploma in architecture at Alfa college.

1. I heard that there's a course or subject called architectural engineering for degree. What's the difference between that course/subject with the normal ones? Is it more to engineering part instead of design?

2. And can i continue my studies at any local U for my degree? Is it hard to get?

3. Lastly, what happen if my CGPA are low.Let say 2.0 only. But my portfolio is very good.Which one will they see?
*
croviax. which batch are you in? =D

*anyone went for the TranXXit workshop?*
