its safer to just get a photo id, differs from state to state. more convenient.

Is a "alcohol license" == 18+ card in your definition?
*
is an ID that prove u can drink alcohol.
Is just a plain Alcohol Proven ID.

got another way to prove.
Tattoo..
bring your passport and make a tattoo on your hand.
and next time you can go out with that hand without password.
Tattoo are only allow for 18 and above.

helloo.. i'll be going to aussie in july. i just need to clarify something, will students who come in during the july intake, be enrolled in the same classes as those who came in february?

if so, then wouldn't i be, like, left behind, since the lecturer won't teach what has been taught in the past 6 months?

=S confused.
*
Which state u going to ?
I not sure about others uni,
In ECU, the answer will be YES, it can be enrol in the same UNIT.

i think u not really clear how the course structure work.
6 months already finished the sems. So will be start again.

btw.. i might be not fully understand what u trying to ask.

QUOTE(chris_c28 @ Jun 30 2008, 05:46 PM)
I didn't know tattoos work. If they do, I am so getting one (in fact, perfect justification for getting one) biggrin.gif
Is that why all the kids here love to get tattoos once they hit 18?
*
It works in Perth... i work in a Deli which got to ask for ID when some young people want to buy some smoke.
so there is alot alot alot diff way to prove themself... hehe..

btw, i got my Driving License here, so ID i not really worry about.

Not sure about others, for mine, 1 years = 2 sems = 8 Units.
Yes.. if you got too much time.. you can take 2 unit per sems or 1 unit per sems if you like.
If you got 6 left, take 3 : 3 for a years tongue.gif

really? but how come so many indians doing that?

OH YEA, if you want to be a TAXI DRIVER too!! so many indians doing... and they actually making quite a bit...

but then again, dont plan to earn your tuition fees OR even daily expenses here... pretty hard though... unless you are really good and lucky and hard working and PRETTY!! HAHHAHAHAHA... my friend could work like a super girl, and she is pretty and hardworking... she used to work everyday... and in those restaurants where they pay 20bucks per hour + 100bucks tips a day... so... it depends AGAIN... normal people CANT do that!!

Wow... wonder what restraurants she work.. 100 bucks tips per days...

But then... earn tuition fees is abit hard.
but for daily expenses is possible, depend on how you Spence your $$$.
My parents doesn't support me any expenses here, coz i am enough for my own salary here.
Even i work 16 hours also enough.
BTW, depend on how you use your money.

P/S for Ladies/Girl/Women : If you got love having some job with old retired people, you can try to apply for working as a "Sister" than take care those old people(dun worry they got no problem, just they too boring, need some one to chit chat). About $30~$50 per hours. not much people can work long for this job.

*
i said you sound like very rich not meaning that having credit card very rich blush.gif
and I dun have a real credit card(haha real credit card).
Coz just a debit card.... so part of credit card part not.
I jsut need the debit card for online use ^.^

Indeed, rich people are using CASH.

hello again.. i know the main semester is february.. but are there equally many ppl who go for second semester intake?
*
for international student, i dun think thats a big deal tho.. Just study the same things.

QUOTE(december88 @ Jul 1 2008, 05:02 PM)
i doubt so. And depends on what degree you take. The main intake is on Feb. that is when all the 1st year(local students) start their degree.
So i doubt it would be equal.
If you do engineering you would be greatly disadvantage UNLESS a lot of students taking the subjects/electives course.
*
why engineering greatly disadvantages?

QUOTE(chris_c28 @ Jul 1 2008, 06:54 PM)
The contrary is true. Credit cards are not privileged items, unlike the way we see tend to see them in Malaysia. Over here, using a credit card means you are most likely in debt hence it is not a good sign.
*
btw is Malaysia got Debit Card or Epthos(dunno how to spell)?

Because resources wise, main intake is on Feb. Ask yourself this, would you prefer to be in the main intake or the latter intake?
Unless you have enough students(not always the case) to teach those subjects then you should be fine and yeah if the uni approved the course.
That is why they have disclaimer that some subjects will not be available for students enrolling in second sem, especially engineering students.
It's EFTPOS btw, which is seriously cool here and a very convenient way of paying bills.
i prefer debit card although mines is a tad ugly design but hey at least it served its purposes. probably i have to change it if Westpac merge with St. George's Bank.

Yup guys last paper today and i be partying late nite after exam!
yipee can't wait to be back home.
*
yeah true... EFTPOS and Debit card is really cool.
Currently using ANZ debit card.. not that bad design... but still reckon Westpac Red Debit Card is far more Great thumbup.gif

OO... Commonwealth user?
I think thats is EFTPOS...
i think the withdrawal fees still apply, jsut depend how many times u withdrawal from ATM or CashOut from somewhere.
After the limit, GG... $2.50++ charged.

Are Aussies study freaks or they just enjoy life as much as they can?

Like in Malaysia, some are really bookworms to the max, some just don't care about their lives and do whatever they want.

Is Australia's life style better than Msia and in what way?

I'm going to Australia at 2012 and I want to know more about Aus. smile.gif
*
For me, study here is far more better than Malaysia, why?
maybe because I am not those kinds of people that can sit in front of the book for more than 1 hours(gonnna cry.gif )
- Get yourself into the Lect and Tutorial class every times (dun be late).
- ASK ASK ASK (be a question maker -- but not stupid question).
- Assignment is your SCORING chance dun waste it. I mostly got 80~100% for all my assignment.
- Group Study.. thumbup.gif

hmm for me, i never buy any book for my study. coz those book can be get from the library and about 3 months loan. Save abit.

Guys, i have question to ask,

does anyone ever transfer money to M'sia?
*
Yeah, you can do that by Bank, but commbank going to charge you $28 AUD, and ANZ charge you $24AUD.
You can do that through online, or get yourself into thier branch.
The others ways to transfer money is using some Currency Converter Parties(not really safe and not all do). Its work like this : you pay them in Australia with eg $1000 and they charge you dunno how many %. Then they will contact CCP in Malaysia and you can get your money there. (***I NOT SURE IS THAT LEGAL OR NOT***)

QUOTE(zltan @ Jul 4 2008, 08:50 AM)

So where do I get the adapter which has a permanent pin that fits into the socket shown in page 1 ?

It shouldn't catch fire under normal circumstances. Don't plug high-wattage equipment into it, i.e. anything that generates lots of heat (heater, hair drier, kettle..).

If you want to rip out your existing plugs and replace them with the aussie one, you can get them from Big W or other hardware shops. Takes just a few minutes to change them.
*
hmm.. i dun think he will bring a heater from Malaysia right? biggrin.gif.
